Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles began last night. It was good AND it had Nick Wechsler as a little mini-Jim Valenti. He done good.

And here's a good review:

I watched it and enjoyed it. I agree with you Berry that it was good to
see Nick as a New Mexico deputy Sheriff (and being directed by David
Nutter again made it interesting to see his performance.)

I liked Lena Headey in her role as Sara but I spent a decent part of
the show trying to figure out where I knew her from. I finally realized
I had seen her in a small film called "Imagine Me & You", which is
a romantic comedy so it was a completely different type of character.

I'm glad the show got good sampling...over 18 million viewers...but
sorry that I'm hearing that many of the critics hated the show. I'll be
interested in seeing how many of last nights viewers will return
tonight.

I watched the pilot. The latitude and longitude given on the airport sign when Nick picked up the guy looked to be pretty close to my house so I put them on Google Earth, and sure enough it is the Double Eagle airport over on the west mesa, 11.85 miles straight line from my house. I assume that they shot that scene actually at the airport, I couldn't see enough of the surroundings to be sure, I've been there 4-5 times and there is a sign like that there. I don't know if they filmed more of the episode around here, I never heard anything about it.

I watched tonight's ep on the Fox HD channel which I discovered a few days ago that I can get in addition to the standard Fox channel. They look good in HD. I took a few pics off the TV and will post them tomorrow.

This looks like a promising series. Sarah is a little slow on the uptake and John is totally irresponsible, I guess they'll use that as a plot device; he gets into trouble and has to be bailed out by Summer, who looks good in HD btw. :D

"I’d like to give her time - and some pasta - to help her grow into her
jeans. Headey looks remarkably like actress Lara Flynn Boyle. She’s a
twig of an action heroine.".........twig ?? She looks just about right to me...:)

It's nice to see that Sonja Walger is in it. She's Desmond's girl friend on Lost and was in the first season of Tell Me That You Love Me on HBO.

I think I've heard that they had completed 7 episodes before the strike forced them to shut down.

BTW...did anyone else notice the Roswell connection in the opening
credits of the show last night? Toni Graphia, who wrote 6 episodes in
season 2, is a staff writer/producer on the show.

Yep, 7 eps is what FutonCritic says. Here's some more info on the show...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Ah ha, so they did film the pilot here, but kept it a secret, apparently. It most have been around this time last winter judging by the snow remarks. It was pretty snowy in Jan., none this year though.

Reporter: Why did [you film the pilot] in Albuquerque?

Josh Friedman: Albuquerque suited a lot of our production
needs. It was a very kind of "Route 66" type of pilot, it was really
kind of a family on the road, on the lam. And we really liked the kind
of big sky, "Route 66" thing and Albuquerque's a very production
friendly...
David Nutter: ...and financially it was feasible to help
us, you know, with all the tax credits and so forth to help us put the
money on the screen.
JF: Coldest winter in 200 years. [Laughs.] Coldest
winter in recorded history. [The crew] just kept on looking at us
saying, "It never snows here. It never does this."

Tonight at 8 pm here. Hope you aren't too late. You can see repeats online at Fox but don't know how well that works with dial-up.

So what were the numbers for last Monday?

The viewership numbers for Sara Connor Chronicles have been
decent but nothing spectacular. Last night it had 8.65 million viewers (3rd
in the time period) which was an increase of 840,000 viewers out of the second
half hour of Prison Break. It also had a 3.6/ 8 rating among adults 18-49 which
was good enough to tie for 2nd place in its time period and be a 16
percent increase on Prison Break. The bad news for the show is that these
numbers are a drop from last Monday when it had 10.07 million viewers and a
4.3/10 rating among adults 18-49. If the show can hold last nights numbers (or
even increase its numbers slightly) I think it will be okay, but if it
continues to loose 10 to 15 percent of its audience each week, it won’t
survive. I hope it holds the audience because I enjoy the show.

The pilot was repeated last night, and having now seen it twice plus episode 2, several discrepancies come to mind:

First, in the pilot when Cameron (Summer's terminator name) first encounters John in school she introduces herself in a smiling, normal manner as a typical high school girl seemingly quite conversant with American high school culture and behaviors. John of course notices nothing odd or unusual about her.

But in the second episode when she encounters the girls in the restroom she is unsmiling ,robotic, seemingly "out of it", misunderstanding of what it means to be called a "bitch-whore", causing suspicion and revulsion among the girls, etc. Exactly the wrong way to go about not attracting attention.

Secondly, in the pilot when the terminator/substitute teacher identifies John in the classroom and starts shooting and Cameron throws herself in the line of fire, the other students see her fall , bleeding from at least 3 hits in lethal areas, and see John as the intended target even as they flee screaming.

Yet she disappears, and returns to school unscathed and no teachers or cops raise questions or express an interest in how she survived or why John was a target ? C'mon... Rolling Eyes Only the FBI agent notes that he has "41 eyewitnesses of a guy with a metal leg".

Of course you could wonder how a terminator was able to be a substitute teacher in the first place... scratch

The next new ep is next Monday.

Absolutely we're still watching :bounce: . Summer has that role down pat. 8)

I'm going to have to watch that ep again online because I didn't get what they did with the Terminator after Cameron disabled it. They must have carried it away with them, they couldn't let it be found. The FBI agent has already found the Terminator's arm that was ripped off. What will they make of that when they examine it ? affraid

So what did they do with the Terminator ? Dump it in the desert? Melt it down somehow? I think that's a plot hole...confused

There was something "funny" on this week's ep, at least to us gear heads. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
In the scene where Cameron rides the BMW RT1150 RTP police bike, she
revs the engine and the sound track superimposed was that of a 4 cyl.
Japanese sport bike. Totally different from a BMW twin. Admittedly, the
sound of the BMW would be nearly inaudible at the distance she was from
the camera if they had used a "real" sound track.

I think Summer was a ballerina at one time or has had extensive ballerina training. It showed in that ep. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Did you notice the background scene in last night's ep where the Reese brothers were playing catch in the park ? The building with the four identical entrances ? We were there ! The '06 convention attendees that is. See what the rest of you are missing ? Of course that park was where the Gilmore Girls bazaar set was still set up when we were there.
