I don't think the celebrity theme would work too well here. They did have a BB celebrity show in the UK, Tara Reid was one of the "celebrities" Rolling Eyes but the amount of time they would have to be isolated wouldn't work for any true celebrity.

The "two houses with a common back yard" a la Survivor sounds interesting. Most fans don't believe that next season will be an All Stars, but maybe later. The Survivor/ Amazing Race contestants as house guests might work too. But what fans really want to see on the next Amazing Race ( not this fall's, that's already in the can) is Dani and Rachel teaming up. Wouldn't that be a hoot ! two thumbs up

7 Twist Ideas for 'Big Brother 14'
Wednesday, September 14, 2011

CBS has officially renewed the ultimate summer reality show Big Brother for a 14th season to air in the summer of 2012, meaning we'll get to see more crazy houseguest antics for at least one more year. The show has already done couples, saboteurs, exes, all-stars, enemies and more, but what new twist will they come up with for Big Brother 14?

To help them out, I've come up with seven twist ideas that could help make Big Brother 14 the best season ever.

All-Stars: Sure, they just had six returning HGs this season, but it did bring in big ratings and since Big Brother 7 was an all-stars season, let's do it again. Just imagine Enzo and Adam in a Jersey War. Or Shelly and Renny hanging out. It could be fun.

Celebrity Edition: It may be hard to get real celebrities willing to devote more than two months to isolation, but I'm sure there are enough pseudo-celebs who would jump at the chance to be on a major network all summer. I think Real Housewife of New Jersey Danielle Staub, Corey Feldman and Tila Tequila could make for an interesting mix.

Who's a Survivor?: Big Brother and Survivor contestants have both appeared on The Amazing Race, so why not switch it up and fill the Big Brother house with former Survivor castaways? There would be a brand-new audience to bring to the show, and it might be fun seeing how the jungle compares to house confinement.

A Tale of Two Houses: I'm not quite sure how this would work, but imagine if the season begins with two separate houses that share a common backyard. It could work like Survivor's two tribes, where they compete against each other for control and the losing side has to vote someone out. Eventually the two houses would merge. This could really shake up the game.

It's All Relative: Survivor is experimenting with this idea by having Russell Hantz's nephew as a castaway, so maybe try having relatives of former Big Brother HGs come to play the game for themselves.

Original Recipe: Season 10 was dubbed "Back to Basics" because they got rid of silly twists and just let the HGs play a mostly normal game. I'd love to see that happen again.

Triple Threat: This is a new twist on the game that makes things very unusual at the beginning. The season would start with 18 HGs and, for the first four weeks, the HoH would have to nominate not two, but three HGs for eviction. The two people with the most votes would both be evicted, so after four weeks we'd be down to 10 people, at which point it would turn into a regular season. There might be a better way to do this, but if they're going to add a new twist, why not change up the entire game?

What would you like to see from Big Brother 14?

As someone who used to watch Big Brother regularly but haven't watched in years, I would say go back to the basics. However, for me, going back to the basics would start off with the removal of all of the staff (including Executive Producers - one specifically) whom, I believe, many seasons ago started deciding who would win before the houseguests arrived and then fixed the show to make sure that their choice became the winner. I haven't believed that this has been an honest competition in a number of seasons and was disappointed, when I contacted the FCC about my concerns, to learn that there are no regulations concerning the honesty of the outcome of competitions on Reality shows.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if they just went back to having a group of people put into the stress of the Big Brother House and let them interact and decide on their own who stays and who leaves and just let the best player of the game have a chance to win it all. That I would probably watch again.

There has been a "back to basics" season, I think it was season 6.....I'll look it up. But you do have a good point about producer influence CG, and some fans have suggested having Jeff Probst take over. Not likely since he already has his hands full with Survivor, but it's a good idea. Even Bertram Van Munster, exec. prod. for The Amazing Race would be good and there has been crossover contestants between BB and TAR on one occasion, as well as with Survivor/TAR so the various producers can hardly be strangers to each other. If the CBS honchos wanted a change they could bring it about. Although with BB's ratings at their highest this season they would have to have some good motives.

This season showed, indirectly, the producers "guidance" of the outcome. The fans think it was most evident in the diary room sessions (hard to prove directly, but there were post-DR "faces" on the HG's many times. More blatant were the comps that were scheduled and constructed to favor certain HG's at critical times. However in the end it comes down to who wins/loses in the comps. and not even the most blatant prod. influence can guarantee the outcomes.

Meanwhile here's a related subject.....he makes good points:

5 Reasons Rachel Won 'Big Brother 13' That Have Nothing to Do with Her Game
Thursday, September 15, 2011

After finishing in ninth place last season and becoming one of the biggest villains ever, Rachel Reilly won Big Brother 13 to claim the $500,000. It was a surprisingly close 4-3 with Brendon, Jeff, Jordan and newbie Shelly voting for Rachel to win over Porsche Briggs.

Recap: Rachel Wins Big Brother 13>>

It's hard for me to argue that Porsche truly deserved to win. Yes, she did pretty well in competitions and her "sit back and play the social game" strategy was OK. But Rachel did win more competitions and she did fight harder to stay. Plus, Porsche pathetically miserable performance in the last two question competitions made me really doubt her ability to even tie her own shoes. She was given 11 questions, each with only two possible answers, and only got three right.

However, that doesn't mean Rachel did it all by herself. She claimed at the end of Big Brother 13 that she had to fight harder than anyone else and she was a target from day one. I don't think that's true, and if you look back at how the season played out, you'll see that it wasn't Rachel who helped herself win, but the situation.

Here are five key moments in the game that helped Rachel win half a million dollars, none of which she had anything to do with.

Brendon Saves Rachel

In week 4 Daniele nominated Brendon and Rachel and Brendon won the Power of Veto. Instead of saving himself like anyone else would do, he saved Rachel. If not for that, she would've been evicted. Rachel might have complained about how being a returning player put a target on her back, but being in the house with someone who would use the PoV on you instead of themselves is the biggest advantage anyone could have.

The Twist Paranoia

After Brendon was evicted the first time, Rachel was nominated and seemed to be the target. But then, thanks to the arrival of a mysterious twist that would let the evicted HG have a chance to come back, Kalia screwed up big-time and nominated Lawon, sending him home. Kalia got frazzled by the twist, Lawon offered to go up and Shelly was going back-and-forth to manipulate Kalia and save Rachel, so basically, everyone EXCEPT Rachel was responsible for Rachel not being evicted in week 5. If it weren't for the twist or Kalia's mental weakness, Rachel would've been gone.

Brendon Returns

This twist gave Rachel a huge boost emotionally and in the game because it meant Daniele had to waste her second HoH getting rid of Brendon yet again. If the zombie had stayed dead and there was no returning twist, Daniele could've focused her attention on Rachel and/or Jeff and had solid control of the game.

Having Jeff and Jordan as Shields

Rachel was nominated with Jeff during the double eviction and with Jordan during the final 4, and both times she survived. If Rachel was really the "biggest target" she claimed to be, why were Jeff and Jordan evicted before her? Because of the returning duos twist at the start, it meant Rachel wasn't the ONLY target and that she could easily hide behind other players, all of whom did better the first time around than she did.

Porsche's Pandora's Box

If it weren't for Porsche opening Pandora's Box and bringing back the duo twist, things would've been different. Yes, Rachel still would've won the Power of Veto, but Jordan would've stayed on the block and Porsche most likely would've nominated Adam. Regardless of who went, it would've been one of Rachel's allies, and while she still would've won the next HoH, any scenario I have in my head leaves Rachel evicted fourth. Keeping Jordan safe kept an extra person for Rachel to count on in a vote and an extra shield for her to hide behind.

What it all boils down to is the fact that all of the twists, from the original duos to the way the returning player was announced to the Pandora's Box all benefitted Rachel's game. Heck, she even got to pick the order the HGs golfed in for the second HoH competition, and since then there hasn't been a single week where the outgoing HoH got to have any role in the next competition.

She may have fought hard and won more competitions than anyone else in Big Brother 13, but Rachel Reilly did not fight an uphill battle. In fact, with all of the help the twists provided, it was pretty smooth sailing to the finale. You just couldn't tell because she cried so much that it felt harder than it really was.

Season 14 confirmed, ratings up

Not sure what to do with yourself after “Big Brother” wraps up tonight? Us too. The good news is, we only have to wait until next summer because CBS announced “Big Brother” Season 14 is a go for 2012.

That probably has a lot to do with the fact that this season has had the best ratings since 2004, according to CBS. I guess the returning duo twist really did work.

CBS says this summer, “Big Brother” saw “its most successful summer in both viewers and adults 18-49 since 2004, with growth on all platforms from on-air to online and on cable.” The show also consistently won its time slot and even Big Brother After Dark on Showtime 2 saw an increase in viewers.

CBS reality executive Jen Bresnan said in a press release that the network is very happy.

“Growing a show in its 13th edition on all these platforms is testament to the amazing creativity and energy of our producers,” Bresnan said. “At every step of the way, they deliver innovative twists and turns that consistently evolve this proven franchise and engage one of the most loyal and interactive fan bases on television and online.”
