Heard on the radio this morning that Fox has pulled 24 and it will not be showing in 2008. Something about only having 6 episodes in the can and because of the writer's strike there's no way they could finish production in time. And then there's the problem of Keifer's jail time....Rolling Eyes

Craig doesn't think it will be back. I do, but feel that no matter how they change the format or how good it might be...it will be the last season.

Here's Matt Rousch explanation of what Fox is doing:

Chaos Theory: Fox Reshuffles the Poststrike Deck

071107bones.jpg
Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz by Kwaku Alston/FOX
As if the implications of the writers’ strike weren’t already giving us migraines, along comes Fox to make our heads explode with its latest incomprehensible schedule announcement, covering the strike-impacted midseason from January to April (consider most everything you read from here on subject to change). The first piece of bad news was expected: The seventh season of 24 is being postponed indefinitely, until Fox can ensure the entire season can run intact and uninterrupted. Who knows when that will be? Another blow: Fox is finally living up to its threat to move Bones to Fridays, effective Jan. 4, where it will be paired with repeats of House (the Fox equivalent of Law & Order, considering how often the hit medical drama will be peppered throughout the network’s new and unimproved lineup).

To try to help make sense of it all, let’s look at the schedule night by night:

Monday: With 24 out of the picture, the new big-ticket midseason item is now the action-packed Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 13, before moving into its regular 9 pm/ET slot on Mondays on Jan. 14. Prison Break, which has moved up its fall finale to next Monday, will return in its regular position on Jan. 14, where it is scheduled to air through February. On March 3, a ghastly sounding war-of-the-sexes reality show, When Women Rule the World, takes over Prison Break’s slot. On March 10, House encores take over for Terminator, which apparently will have already completed its midseason tryout.

Tuesday: The bottom line of Fox's midseason schedule boils down to two words: American Idol, which returns with a two-hour audition special Jan. 15. House joins it the following week, airing a mix of new and old episodes through March. A new season of summer staple Hell’s Kitchen is scheduled to begin in the House slot on April 1. (I know, the whole season is starting to sound like a bad April Fools' joke, isn’t it?)

Wednesday: Another night for American Idol to rule, starting with a two-hour blast on Jan. 16. The lie-detector-themed reality game show The Moment of Truth airs after Idol at 9 pm/ET starting Jan. 23. And when the Idol results show morphs back into its half-hour format on March 12, it will move to 9 pm/ET, sandwiched between the hour-long Moment of Truth at 8 pm/ET and the returning sitcom Back to You at 9:30 pm/ET.

Thursday: No changes. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and Don’t Forget the Lyrics! will carry on, unaffected by the strike. How happy are we?

Friday: Bones and House repeats will set up shop on Jan. 4. Bones will be joined by the supernatural drama New Amsterdam (at 9 pm/ET) starting Feb. 22. On March 7, Bones takes a breather and will be replaced by ’Til Death and the new Amy Sherman-Palladino comedy, The Return of Jezebel James, starring Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose, from 8 to 9 pm/ET. On April 11, New Amsterdam will be spelled by the new legal drama Canterbury’s Law, starring Julianna Margulies. Is Fox somehow hoping that the strike will magically change the network’s fortunes by ending the Friday (a graveyard night for Fox for years) kiss of death for all of these new series?

Saturday and Sunday remain largely unchanged. Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3, will end on a high note, with an original House episode guest-starring Mira Sorvino. And on March 2, American Dad will be temporarily relieved by a new midseason relationship comedy, Unhitched, starring Craig Bierko and Rashida Jones.

Got all that? Me neither.

Wouldn’t it be funny if the strike were resolved soon and this mad juggling act became moot? Wouldn’t it? Please, TV gods, give me a reason to laugh.

For those of you who are interested, I just saw that the 2 hour 24 movie has been scheduled to air on Sunday Nov 23 from 8 to 10 pm. This is being called a pre-quel to day 7 and at least part of it was filmed in Africa.

Well, that's better than what was originally said. No "24" until 2009. Yes, that's a very long time.

CG any news on the movie? I think it was supposed to come out this summer but last I head had been shelved...indefinitely...?

last I heard it has had script problems and has probably been put in "turnaround"...which means yeah it has been shelved for now at least. I also think that the writers' strike was partially to blame for this and since that is now settled they can work on the script and have it ready so they are ready to prceed when the other pieces of the puzzle are put back together

Valentine's Day just got a whole new meaning for Mary Lynn Rajskub. Jack
Bauer's right-hand woman welcomed her first child with her beau,
physical trailer Matthew Rolph, giving birth Thursday to son Valentine
Anthony—almost two full weeks past the little guy's due date. Guess keeping audiences in suspense runs in the family. "It was like an episode of 24 with the clock ticking," Rajskub told People of the less than punctual arrival. The Cupid-themed tyke tipped the scales at a hearty 9 pounds., 5 ounces. The
36-year-old first-time mom told People that she and Rolph, 28, didn't
want to know the sex until the birth and as a result went with a
green-themed gender-neutral nursery in their San Fernando Valley home. "I wanted it to be a surprise," she told the magazine, "and Matthew wanted to find out." It's unclear whether Rajskub is allowing any time for maternity leave, but the 24 clock seemingly stops for no one. Filming
on the show's eighth season has already kicked off, with Rajskub
reprising her role as know-it-all CTU techie Chloe O'Brian. The new
season kicks off in January after a special two-hour TV movie set to
air this fall.

'24' the Movie?

By Tracy Phillips
Thu, 14 Aug 2008 18:50:22 GMT

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
More on the rumor that won’t go away… Fans (and the media) have been
clamoring for a feature film version of the Fox thriller “24.”

While promoting his new horror movie “Mirrors,” star Kiefer Sutherland admitted he likes the idea too.

“It's certainly on the table," Sutherland tells [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. "We would certainly be thrilled to make it, but we're going to wait until the series is finished."

Sutherland also teased the new season of “24”: "We've just
finished it...arguably, I think it's the best thing we've done to
date."

You won’t see the new episodes until January 2009, but this
November Jack’s back with the two-hour mini-movie “24: Exile” to hold
us over.

As for turning a television show into a feature film, it’s a
dicey proposition. This summer alone saw two very successful TV
franchises experience radically different outcomes to their big-screen
adventures: “Sex and the City” earned an astounding $150 million, while
“The X-Files: I Want To Believe” made just $10 million.

24 Redemption

The nation continues to reel from the terrorist attacks and Agent Bauer battles unthinkable circumstances. Savvy politico Reed Pollock and Vice President Noah Daniels become increasingly involved while Gredenko and Fayed maneuver the threat.

Two hours long. Starts at 7 central time for me. Check your local listings..

It was okay, not great. I don't think the regular season plot lines will be a continuation of that one, which is good because African plot lines are usually "children in peril" which gets formulaic pretty quick.

A friend of mine told me today that the "African Plot Line" was supposed to start at the end of last season and then progress to the movie but the writer's strike changed all that so what we've seen is all that was filmed of that. And I think the movie idea has been KO'd now.

I just am so excited about watching something with some substance to it...even if it's miniscule.

So ok, I'm about to break my own rule here...I can't stand it, I gotta spill. THE QUESTION is...Is Tony feline or is he having a serious relationship with a cheerleader on another station? Cause brought back from the dead once is one thing....brought back from the dead twice...quite another...

There better be a good backstory... bonked on the head

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]RUSH:
Ladies and gentlemen, as a powerful, influential member of the media,
I, of course, have access to things that other people do not, and I
recently received the first four episodes of the new season, season
seven, of "24," which premieres on Sunday, two hours on Sunday, two
hours on Monday, a total of four hours. I watched these four
episodes. Everybody thought last season kinda slacked off a little
bit, and then we had the writer strike, so we went a whole year, a
whole TV season without "24." It's back, and I have to tell you, it is
stupendous, it is so good. I'll just tell you how it opens. It opens
with a bunch of pontificating, pompous buffoons of a Senate committee
interrogating Jack Bauer, trying to put him in jail for torture, and
then all hell breaks loose, and that's as far as I'm going to go. But
it is just tremendous. Some of you who thought that "24" kinda lost
its focus and direction in the last season, you will say "24" is back.
And, by the way, there is no CTU. There is a new Chloe, even though
Chloe is still in this one. There's two Chloes. But it opens in
Washington. Most of the first action takes place in Washington, not in
California. It's well, well worth your time. I also received, as a
special bonus, a Jack Bauer action figure doll in a jail breaking out
or some sort of a wire enclosure. I'm going to send it to one of my
nieces or nephews and let them tear it up in ten minutes, but, anyway,
it's well worth your time.
