Regardless of who's right in this wrangling, may I make a slight suggestion ? Since Danny will need a partner on the street and since Det. Baker is a trained and commissioned officer in the NYPD, how about Commish. Reagan lets her go out and partner with Danny ? This would give Abigail a much bigger and well deserved role beyond her "eye candy" 10 second, one line of dialog appearance some weeks and would make her fan boys very happy. woohoo

She is very secretive with her personal info.....not that I blame her. two thumbs up

Jennifer Esposito takes aim at 'Blue Bloods' producers over leave of absence
Oct. 22, 2012, 8:44 AM EST

Actress Jennifer Esposito has blasted producers of the hit show "Blue Bloods" after she was put on leave of absence due to medical problems.

Esposito, who plays series regular Jackie Curatola, suffers from Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder which affects her overall health. She recently asked producers at CBS to cut back her shooting schedule after collapsing on set, but they allegedly refused and responded by writing her character out of the show for the foreseeable future.

In series of posts on Twitter, she writes, "CBS PUT me on unpaid leave and has blocked me from working anywhere else after my doctor said you needed a reduced schedule due to Celiac. CBS didn't listen to my doc and I collapsed on set. Which everyone saw!

"After a week off my doc said I could return to work but CBS implied that I was NOT truly ill and this was a scheme to get a raise! It's been almost two months without bringing me back to work + keeping Me from working anywhere else!... Absolutely shameful behavior." A representative from CBS has confirmed Esposito is not currently working on the series. A statement released to Deadline.com reads, "Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule. As a result, she's unable to perform the demands of her role and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence."

I do feel for her. The not being free to work elsewhere is a kicker. Those medical bills don't pay themselves.

Unless its a paid leave of absence ...

Jilted ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Refutes Story About Her Status

by Adam Buckman | October 25, 2012 at 10:14 AM | TV News

Jennifer Esposito in action on "Blue Bloods." Inset: One of her replacements, Megan Ketch (Photos: CBS)

UPDATED: Jennifer Esposito says a story in Thursday’s New York Post has its facts wrong about her status on “Blue Bloods.” On Thursday morning, the actress Tweeted: “Page 6 needs to get there [sic] info straight” (she was referring to The Post’s “Page Six” gossip page which reported that her attorneys are working behind-the-scenes to get her reinstated on the CBS cop show). Then she Tweeted: “Just to be clear folks page 6 article is all lies! Was never fired have been held the last two months without pay and blocked from working.” At issue is this story in The Post, which we reported on earlier, below. From her Tweets, we’re not sure if Esposito is refuting the main thrust of the story — which is that she’s seeking reinstatement on the show. However, it IS clear that she takes issue with the story’s characterization of her current status on the show.

PREVIOUSLY: Despite her fury at CBS for reportedly ordering her character to be written out of “Blue Bloods,” jilted cast member Jennifer Esposito is actively campaigning to get back on the series, the New York Post reports.

The story — here — says Esposito’s reps are “negotiating with CBS to see if she can be reinstated on the show” (according to a source who isn’t named).

The main issue for Esposito and CBS: Her claim that she suffers from an ailment known as celiac disease, a wheat gluten allergy.
Previously: ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Claims CBS Benched Her Because She’s Sick

The disorder apparently renders Esposito unable to work the long hours that are usually required for working on a TV show (particularly a one-hour drama filmed mainly on the streets of New York City).

Last week, she issued a series of Tweets in which she implied that CBS was discriminating against her because the network would not OK a reduced work schedule for her that was mandated by her doctors.

Up until recently, Esposito, 39, played street-smart NYPD Det. Jackie Curatola for two seasons on the New York-based cop series. But after filming only a few episodes before being sidelined after a celiac attack that she says made her pass out on the set, she charges that CBS ordered her written out of the show. Since she’s been sidelined, CBS has reportedly been trying out a series of guest-star female detectives to serve as temporary partners for Det. Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). One of them, Megan Ketch, will be seen soon, on the Nov. 2 episode of “Blue Bloods.” I don't know who Megan Ketch is, never heard of her, but if Abigail Hawk isn't one of the "series of guest-star female detectives" then they have rocks in their heads. censored
Watch a recent episode of “Blue Bloods,” right here:

“It is believed [that Esposito] hopes to get back to work with a lighter schedule rather than take legal action against the network,” the Post story said.

Our take: Certainly, for a show such as this, CBS needs actors and actresses who are up to the physical requirements of all-weather, all-hours location shooting in New York. On the other hand, the network can’t be seen as discriminating against someone who’s sick. So that has to be part of CBS’ decision-making process where Jennifer Esposito is concerned. One big problem: If she’s already disappeared from the show, how do you explain her absence and then bring her back smoothly? In addition, how crucial was she to the show in the first place? If CBS is already trying out replacements, then the network must believe she wasn’t that important. Truth is, we don’t know which way this one will go.

The part that sticks in my craw is the "held without pay while contractually not being able to work for others."

It is probably true that she needs to be replaced. But she should have been handled in a more caring way considering she has been with the show from the beginning.

That was a very awkward scene at the end given that we know the reason behind it. Jennifer is put on a leave of absence , but they have her come in and do a scene explaining that Jackie is taking a leave of absence ?....that just doesn't seem right... scratch So will the blond Det. from Internal Affairs now be Danny's new partner ? After he says that he doesn't know where Jackie is....awkward. Rolling Eyes But I'm still hoping for Det. Baker getting the assignment. At least she had twice as much screen time and dialog as usual in that ep. two thumbs up

Well, at least they didn't have her killed in a car crash or anything like that. So it is open for her to come back from her "leave of absence" whenever. Still, I think CBS will play hardball with an actress who was so quick to take the situation public. Behind closed doors is probably much more to their liking.

Jennifer Esposito Slams CBS (Again) Over Blue Bloods Suspension

entertainment-eonline-20121118-b364214

Jennifer Esposito

Jennifer Esposito is "sick" over CBS' decision to put her on medical leave from Blue Bloods, after her doctor advised her to take on a lesser workload to help her cope with her Celiac disease.

After calling CBS "shameful" back in October in a Twitter tirade when the network announced Esposito would be taking a leave of absence from the cop drama, Esposito has popped up again, speaking out for the first time since the incident occurred.

Jennifer Esposito's Blue Bloods leave may be permanent after she slams "Shameful" CBS

In an interview set to air tonight on Fox News' FOX Files, the actress says CBS kept her on contract and suspended her without pay, rather than accommodating her request to work fewer days a week due to her illness, according to TV Line .

"So many things of injustice that happen in this business. It's what you sign up for….This, though, is something that is not about me, I feel," Esposito tells FOX Files. "This is about a disease that people don't understand. And what went on [here], it makes me sick."

Esposito also describes an incident in which she collapsed on set twice. "The [assistant director] came in and said, 'I'll get the medic,' and we were like, 'There is nothing [the medic can do], unless he can cure me of Celiac disease. This is what we've been trying to tell you.' They had to carry me into the car and bring me to the doctor, where I [was] for seven hours."

Partners canceled by CBS

"Look, they have a job that they need done. I get it," Esposito says during the interview. "You don't think I can do it in the two or three days that I am offering in that…work space of eight days? Then I get it, you have to replace me. But that's not what happened. What happened was ugliness."

The actress says CBS' suspension terms prevent her from seeking employment on another network TV show, but she is free to pursue film or stage work and appear on a cable series that doesn't air in the same time slot as Blue Bloods.

While CBS hasn't commented recently about Esposito's claims, in a statement in October the network told E! News, "Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule. As a result, she's unable to perform the demands of her role and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence. She is a wonderfully talented actress and we hope that she will be able to return at some point in the future."

So what are they going to do for a partner for Danny ? Last week was the blond Det. from Internal Affairs. I don't think she has had even a bit part previously. So will they "promote " her or look for another more permanent partner ? I still vote for Det. Baker. There should be a massive fan uprising and everyone send....something......to the producers to show our preference....hmmmm.....how about pictures of Hawks ? That should get the message across. two thumbs up

I watched the Fox Files interview. Jennifer said that it took 19 years, from childhood, for her to get an accurate diagnosis. The Dr. said it was the worst case of Celiac disease that she had ever seen. There are so many foods that she can't eat I can't imagine how she can live. She and the Fox interviewer were in her kitchen.....she baked something that looked like thick, chocolate chip biscuits (it couldn't have had chocolate, she can't eat it, or gluten) but whatever it was, she didn't say, but she can eat it. scratch

She said she can work on other film or cable projects that don't compete with Blue Bloods.

I agree about the blond partners. They don't have the necessary "edge" that a NYC det. would have who have seen it all, and while not necessarily cynical, neither are they pollyannas. Jackie had that vibe. These new ones are more like they have come out of a secretarial pool.... scratch

I still say they need to roll out Det. Baker. two thumbs up Of course she's been in the office for awhile and dresses too stylishly for the street, but she didn't get to be a det. or get picked to be Frank's asst. without field experience. Of course she would be rather distracting out on the street amongst both perps and cops.....but why not ?.... woohoo

That was a pretty good premier episode. Megan/ Kate is beginning to be better but still not as good as Jennifer in that role. I did learn one thing....Danny points out that the motorists are being shot with a .223 round, which I assumed that they would discover that they were being fired from an AR-15. But no, at the end they find the Remington 700 rifle in the apt . of the murdered guy and I wondered how it could be the sniper weapon if it wasn't chambered for the .223 round. But they are available in that round !

And of course we knew that Danny's son would wake up by the end of the ep. He is the older of the two Terraciano brothers that play Danny's sons.

Model 700P – Police version
Remington Model 700P.

There are two main models of the 700P – the standard 700P with a 26" heavy barrel and the 700P Light Tactical Rifle (LTR) which has a 20" fluted heavy barrel. Both rifles also come (optionally) in a Tactical Weapons System (TWS) package, complete with telescopic sights, a bipod, and carrying case.

Remington markets the 700 to military forces and civilian law-enforcement agencies under the Remington Law Enforcement and Remington Military banner, with the military/law enforcement 700s being called the Model 700P ("Police"). The 700P series appears to have been influenced by the designs, features, and success of the M24 Sniper Weapon System and the M40 series, with one feature of the Model 700P series being the heavier and thicker barrel for increased accuracy and reduced recoil. The rifle was chambered for .308 Winchester cartridge as well as the .223 Remington, .243 Winchester, 7 mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, and .338 Lapua Magnum. The 700P has a 26" barrel, an aluminium block bedded in its stock, which is made by HS Precision.

The police version (700P) is also marketed to private citizens and is very popular with shooters and hunters who like the "government issue" appearance as well as the handling and accuracy. Remington also sells the standard, U.S. Army-issue Leupold Mark IV M3 10x40 mm telescopic sight used by the Army's M24 as an optional feature. Remington offers similarly styled, less expensive versions under the Special Purpose Synthetic (or SPS) name. They are similar in most respects to the 700P but lack the H-S Precision stock. The SPS Varmint has the 26" heavy barrel and the SPS Tactical has the 20" heavy barrel.

It's like they are recasting that role yet again which would go 'smoother' if it didn't happen until next season. But if there are more episodes this season then it becomes awkward, again, and I haven't heard anything about Jennifer getting the role back.... scratch

Yeah, they will be on 'hiatus', don't like that word, sounds like a disease, until after the Super Bowl as will several others. Hopefully Jennifer can come back. The 'trying out' scheme is very iffy. How do we know if/when the 'lightning strikes' ? Will the Twitter/Facebook fan base rise up as one saying, "Yes ! She's the one, hire her ! " They could avoid all this by just giving Det. Baker a chance. I'm talking to a post, I guess. Rolling Eyes Frank can get another office asst.
