I'm beginning to wonder if BB Production and casting dept. is beginning to feel "snookered" with this season's cast ? They did the casting following their usual method...several pretty girls that look good in bikinis, some good looking guys that look good with their shirts off, the gay guy (there have been one or two gay women over the seasons, not for 2-3 years), the successful and sometimes rich entrepreneurs (Boogie), the teachers, (Matt), the sweet Southern Belles (Jordan the archetype) the surfer/skateboarder/unemployed "dudes", the beefcake body builders (the unforgettable Jesse) the "low achievers" (McCrae, the pizza  delivery man this season) who turn out to be canny, scheming play experts , and of course the dweeb/nerd/geeks, who won last season...roflmao

But this season all the pretty girls are potty mouths and racist to boot, almost everyone is bent on starting a showmance (this is normally left to one or two couples, Daniele with her in-house boyfriend , later married, and of course Jeff and Jordan, America's Sweethearts who I think are still engaged.)
This season the guys are either misogynists, non-entities (there are always one or two of these whose names no one can remember) or just plain "dense" to put it politely. David the surfer dude fulfills that role this season.

And this season almost everyone is jumping into bed with everyone else, with the exception of Andy the gay guy of course, who seems pretty 'straight' otherwise. And these two, Howard and Helen  who can speak without bad words and have backgrounds tending toward responsibilities. Helen is married with two kids, a political consultant. Howard is a youth counselor with a church or civic org. and brought his Bible which he reads often. Howard seems taken aback with some of the group convos. he hears, Helen takes it all in more calmly, she's heard it all before no doubt, being in politics. Howard may be too laid back to go all the way, but Helen has the ability to outsmart them all, as long as they don't realize her threat and gang up on her.

Should CBS Expel 'Big Brother 15' HG Aaryn Over Racist Comments?
Monday, July 01, 2013

John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV

Hot off the heels of the Paula Deen controversy, CBS is embroiled in its own race-related scandal thanks to Big Brother 15 houseguest Aaryn Gries.

On the first two episodes of the show that's aired on CBS, Aaryn has come across as a pretty blonde who seems nice enough, is overly confident and has already started a showmance with fellow houseguest David. But Big Brother 15 fans who watch the live feeds have seen a different side of her.

Aaryn has been engaged in a fight with Candice (an African-American houseguest), and some of her language has definitely crossed the line. She's made jokes about how Candice and Howard (the other African-American HG) will stick together "because of the black thing" and in a fight with Candice, Aaryn corrected her by saying "it's asked, not aksed." While grammatically correct, it is also a dig at the variation of the word made popular by Ebonics (or, as the official entry on Wikipedia puts it, "a metathesis in African American Vernacular English").

Aaryn has also made jokes about how Helen, an Asian-American contestant, should "shut up and go and make some rice" or how openly gay contestant Andy will probably win MVP because "everyone loves seeing the queers."

As a result of all this offensive language, fans have started a petition at Change.org urging CBS to eject Aaryn from the game for her hate speech.

It's certainly a divisive issue and one that is very topical (oddly enough, the Big Brother 15 HGs were sequestered from the outside world prior to the Paula Deen story, so they are unaware of just how relevant this kind of thing is).

Personally, I'm a bit torn on the issue, but I don't think Aaryn should be forcibly expelled by Big Brother 15 producers. Yes, the things she's saying are heinous, but I have no doubt she will be thoroughly punished by society when she leaves the game. It's certainly going to be hard for this 22-year-old Texas college student to find employment in the real world when a simple Google search of her will now forever link her to racist comments.

Also, it's not as if her actions or words are being condoned. Nearly everyone in the house hates her and wants to evict her next week, so expelling her is hardly necessary.

Finally, I don't like the precedent it sets if Aaryn is expelled from Big Brother 15 for what she says. I'm generally opposed to criminalizing thoughts because of a little thing called the First Amendment. What makes America great isn't the fact that our Constitution protects speech we like, it's that it protects speech we DON'T like. Obviously there's no Constitutional right to being a houseguest on Big Brother 15, and I haven't read all of their official rules the contestants must be forced to sign, but I am concerned about the idea of producers stepping in and eliminating reality show contestants just because they don't like what someone is saying.

Sure, it's different in the case of Big Brother because the 24/7 live feeds make everything they do and say public, but I'm not concerned about little kids watching the live feeds and being corrupted. After all, fellow contestant David has already stripped completely nude and shown his manhood to the cameras, so if that didn't traumatize anyone, I doubt a joke about Asians eating rice will do the trick.

There are also a few things that are just plain wrong with the petition itself. It says, in part, that "By CBS Television Network conceding this behavior, they are supporting the verbal violence." Um, no. Showing something and supporting it are two completely different things.

The petition adds that Aaryn must be expelled and CBS and Big Brother must publicly condemn her, things that "are necessary for both Aaryn and the station to prove they can be trusted to report objectively on issues that impact the human rights and LGBT community." I don't know what dictionary they're using, but where I come from, objectivity and condemnation are opposing ideas.

Any time you see "LGBT community" used as a 'foil' you can suspect radical leftists are behind it. That's too bad, they shouldn't be used that way, but it makes it suspect as to who is involved with this petition.

If anything, Big Brother is the ultimate lesson in objective reporting. It simply shows us what people do and say without commenting or judging or attaching any outside thought or opinion.

I guess I just miss the good, old days when it was conservative watchdog groups trying to censor the entertainment industry and not liberals....leftists.

The outraged fans who think Aaryn should be expelled from Big Brother 15 for racist comments need to calm down. In the words of Pam from HBO's True Blood, we just need to let Aaryn and others "practice their Constitutional right to be f***ing idiots."

What should CBS do about Aaryn on 'Big Brother 15'?
Let her stay, but show her racist comments on TV
Let her stay and edit her comments out of the show
Expel her from the game

Big Brother 15 Live Feeds: Week 1 Monday Night Highlights

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 06:48 AM PDT

Things in the Big Brother 15 house continued to be a little more tame over night aside from the usual stank eyes and a GinaMarie meltdown that had her threatening to self-evict. You can catch up on the events from earlier on Monday here.

Read about those moments and others on our Live Feeds highlights below. And remember that you can check out any of these moments by using the Live Feeds flashback/archive feature.

Big Brother 15 Live Feed Highlights – Monday, July 1/Tuesday July 2, 2013:

3:40 PM BBT – GinaMarie is really upset because Big Brother took most of her clothes. Still can’t get a handle on exactly why. This is just the start of her meltdown.

4:40 PM BBT – Andy is afraid the other side of the house will target him because they think he’s in an alliance with Elissa and Helen.

5:43 PM BBT – Spencer and Andy are in the hammock talking game. They’re sizing up Amanda and Helen.

7:27 PM BBT – Jessie is shadowing Nick and he’s getting irritated with her.

8:00 PM BBT – Helen and Andy say Nick make them nervous and they want him out of the game ASAP.

8:10 PM BBT – Andy and Nick are in the hammock and GinaMarie comes up and very upset again and says she’s going to quit the game. She says she’s going to wait until Wednesday so that the eviction can happen as planned.

8:30 PM BBT – Nick is consoling GinaMarie in the It’s A Small World Bedroom. She’s spazzing out about missing home, being bored and not being around happy people. She’s also upset that she doesn’t have any clothes. She slips in a comment about production calling her mom to send her stuff before they cut the feeds. Nick finally talks her down from the ledge and she puts away the clothes she had laid out on her bed for packing.

8:55 PM BBT – Houseguests are all getting along and outside playing charades.

11:15 PM BBT – Aaryn hinting that she may shift to Jeremy if David wasn’t around. Oh that’ll be fun to watch.

11:40 PM BBT – Aaryn and David are breaking up. Awww, blpppphhhhh. Aaryn complains it’s like pulling teeth trying to get him to talk. Funny, that’s how I described our interview with both David and Aaryn.

1:00 AM BBT – Andy tells McC & Amanda that he is going for HoH this week, but would give it to Helen if it came down to it.

1:45 AM BBT – HGs around the hot tub bashing Elissa. GM still thinks Elissa is going. Most everyone else seems to know she’s not.

It was a calm night in the house with most of the HGs now on-board to evict David and keep Elissa. It seems that only GM, Jessie, Aaryn, and Kaitlin will be surprised. Oh, and David, though I think he’s starting to suspect.
