Here's one way, or would that be two, to get publicity for your movie....two thumbs up

Niki Lauda is a unique and truly amazing story in the history of motorsports but I assume the movie will only cover 1976....

I just got back from seeing it, first showing on the first day. Not a bad crowd for 11 am on a Friday. It was better than I expected on one front, the stories of the personal lives during that time of Hunt and Lauda were well done. The racing scenes were okay, using archival footage was a good idea. It's not possible to make a movie about Formula 1 using real F-1 cars and driving them in a realistic manner. It would be  similar to making a movie about the Apollo missions using real Saturn rockets. But with the archival footage and using mockups of the cars both static and driveable, Howard was able to capture the essence of F-1 during the 1976 season. But as others have said, Leno among them, it isn't really a "racing movie" as much as the story of the lives of two celebrities in just that one event filled year.

Olivia Wilde has a small role and does a fair job with her English accent. Natalie Dormer has an even smaller role as a nurse. The woman (Italian I think, never heard of her) playing Lauda's wife does a good job. The one scene where her Ferrari breaks down (inexplicably played by a Peugeot) and she and Lauda are picked up by two Italians driving a genuine Lancia Berlina (Italian for 'sedan') is classic.

Hunt died of a heart attack at age 45, but Lauda went on to win another World Championship  overcoming his horrific burns, which they did a good job simulating after his August '76 crash at the Nurburgring.

The one thing that I thought was lacking is that they didn't have a credit at the end saying that Lauda is still active in F-1 as a team manager. They did have a brief shot showing how he looks today, as well as several newsreel and publicity shots of the real Hunt after he retired and became a broadcaster.

All in all I think it would appeal to the mass audience as a good story, transcending their ignorance of F- 1 (inexcusable , I know, but there you have it ).  two thumbs up

Good to hear. It seems Ron Howard makes pretty good movies for the most part. I wouldn't mind checking it out someday.
