Glee - Season 3 Empty Glee - Season 3

I was interested in where Murphy was going with season 3 of Glee ... some SPOILERS are in here ....

Glee Season 3 Spoilers: Tina And Mike, New York Spin Off And More!
Posted by Cristina Isabel on June 28th, 2011

After Ryan Murphy’s much-talked about interview with Ryan Seacrest where he revealed that the cast of Glee will join the group of high school graduates in 2012, fans were all shocked about the announcement.

Glee co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed in the said interview his plans for Season 3 of Fox’s smash hit — including an “endgame” for New Directions’ senior classmen, and a new talent from his new Oxygen reality series The Glee Project).

So what will fans expect to see from Season 3? Murphy revealed more juicy details so MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD:

“Season 3 we decided is going to be character, character, character. For starters, there’ll be only one musical tribute episode — though it’ll be a biggie. It’s one I’ve been working on for two years — it took forever to clear — with a really big artist. We’re not going to have any guest stars. And we’re going to do fewer songs.”

“There will always be huge stories with Lea. There will always be huge storylines with Chris Colfer. But like I wanna know more about Tina and Mike. I wanna know more about Mercedes. They’re fascinating. I love them as performers and it’s time they get their due. Also, Matt Morrison last year didn’t really have the big, huge arc he had in Season 1, but he will in the upcoming season.”

“We’ve decided it’s a little tired for Sue to be constantly trying to destroy the glee club. Now, she just wants to destroy the Glee Project winner and to start picking on the country. She should be going after the Obama administration. She should be going after Sarah Palin. Her enemy should be the U.S. government. [Matthew Morrison’s] character will be involved in the election, which will be really funny. One thing I’m looking for is someone for Sue Sylvester to love. Who is the man (or woman) to love Sue Sylvester? That’s an interesting idea. How would Sue date? I’m interested in that.”
“Do we really want to have an eight-year senior? To that I would say there are some people who are not seniors and there are some people that are REALLY intellectually challenged. Like, you know that Brittany is pulling straight Fs.” How about the idea of Puck scoring a gig as an assistant football coach at McKinley, Murphy offers a firm “No.”

Murphy says no decision has been made regarding the status for Darren Criss (Blaine), Chord Overstreet (Sam), or Ashley Fink (Lauren). “We’ve just started to write [the new season], so I don’t know who we’re bringing back or who we’re letting go. Chord is not a senior. I believe Darren is not a senior. There’s a group of them. But this year we will be adding new people. There’s going to be The Glee Project winner and we’re casting for two other female parts. ”

How about a spin-off series for the cast of New Directions? “People keep saying that! It was not the intention. I have always felt that Rachel and Kurt were too big for Ohio. I also just kind of like the idea of them like graduating and going off into the ether and you hope they become successes but you don’t know. I don’t know what we’re going to do — maybe those discussions will happen around December. I keep saying that with the new Funny Girl revival, they should just say it’s Rachel Berry in Funny Girl — get Lea to do that, but as Rachel Berry. It would be a crowd-pleaser.”

There you have it, Gleeksters! Murphy isn’t holding back in letting go of the major characters of the hit series? How about Artie, Santana, Finn and Quinn? Murphy didn’t mention anything about these characters in his interviews.

So we are losing some characters and gaining others. I hope they lose the new annoying girl who wants to join Glee but who can't sing a lick. Seems like she may have some pull as her dad donated the pianos but there go their chances at Nationals if they take her. Sad

I'm glad I don't have to cast that play! What makes one gay guy fit for the romantic lead and not the other? What makes someone like Barney on How I Met Your Mother able to be a chick magnet but not Kirk? John Barrowman of Torchwood is probably who "Kirk" will be when he grows up...and John started out playing the romantic lead in "Miss Saigon", and has often been cast opposite both men and women as their partner. Poor Kirk, I love him so much. Wonder what the boyfriend said to being asked to try out for Tony? Doesn't matter I guess. The damage (to Kirk's ego) has been done.

And just fyi Larry Kert who originated the role of Tony in West Side Story.....gay!

Mark Salling who plays Puck has apparently fractured his pelvis playing basketball this past weekend. He tweeted that there was nothing that could be done about it. He is able to walk and even run a bit but sitting and then getting up is very painful. Hope he heals fast.

So, how did you all like the Michael Jackson tribute? Seems like it was popular but I find those little "I challenge you to a duel by singing at you" contests to be so weird. Santana and the evil Warbler eyeballing each other and singing their little hearts out and at the end each one claims to have won. WTHeck???

Think Rachel has made a huge mistake...and for all the wrong reasons.
Glad to see so many of the kids getting accepted at great schools. sunny

Glee has been loosing audience this season but the MJ episode did much better. I was in choir all through Jr. High and High School and even into college because I can sing a little and was never picked on or taunted because of it. Maybe it's because I'm a tough guy. I grow weary of "stop picking on me because I'm different" thing. It is not how things are in real life. At least not form my experiences. Yes the sing off is lame. They skipped over some very iconic MJ songs it seems. But there are enough to do several episodes featuring MJ music.

The Valentine episode had a lot of good things about it. I liked Rachel Berry's Dads. Jeff Goldbloom I would watch reading the phone book. I'm not sure who the other guy was but it was clear he had a lot of musical theater roots.
I liked the new "religious" hippie kid and I thought it was a thoughtful representation of the problem the school club created for itself in offering to do "singing telegrams" for the students. But, correct me if I'm wrong, but is it actually allowed to have a "religion" club in a high school these days? I thought not.
I am not fond of the Mercedes/Shane/Blond guy triangle. The outcome of it all seemed ridiculous. But it did give us a stellar rendition of "I will Always Love You". I hear that it was there purely as a coincidence but it did give them a chance to stick a tribute to Whitney Houston message there on the end. As a show about music, it seemed fitting.

*Ah yes, Rachel Berry's other Dad is Brian Stokes Mitchell

Won Broadway's 2000 Tony Award as Best Actor (Musical) for a revival of Cole Porter's "Kiss Me, Kate." He has been Tony-nominated three other times: twice as Best Actor (Musical), in 1998 for portraying Colehouse Walker in "Ragtime" and in 2003 for playing the Cervantes/Don Quixote character in a revival of "Man of La Mancha;" and once as Best Actor (Play), in 2001 for August Wilson's "King Hedley II."

Was nominated for a 1998 Tony for "Best Actor in a Musical" for his portrayal of "Coalhouse Walker" opposite Audra McDonald.

In 2010, co-starred on Broadway with Patti Lupone in "Woman on the Verge of A Nervous Breakdown"

It seems like different states have had different outcomes with the religious clubs at school thing. I can not think of any recent examples but I know there are various clubs including religious.

There are certainly a lot of gay characters and pro-gay sentiment in Glee and other programming today. What was with the dumb gay fun fact "one in ten people are gay"? This did not exist on TV when I was a kid as far as I remember. At least not to the extent it is now where nearly every show has gay characters. However, it turns out I went to school with people that I now know are gay. So what? Do I treat them any differently as an adult because I was not bombarded with pro-gay messages as a child? The answer is no. I have worked with many gay people over the years. So what they are people just like straight people. I had a gay guy at my house for Thanksgiving dinner does that make me special. Not at all. He's a family friend and a nice guy, who cares if he's gay. It seems to me Glee and other shows are over doing the gay thing. So what some people are gay, get over it.

I was in college and a big male student was in a stairwell with me...just the two of us. He leaned in to me and in a very hate-filled voice said "You make me sick." I didn't know what was the matter with him but I felt intimidated and ran into the ladies room and hung out there for awhile hoping he wouldn't be around when I left. I later had a male friend come up and tell me that there was a table of students who had been watching me at lunch and discussing me being a lesbian (all I have to say to that is hahahahahahahah). What they actually saw and misinterpreted was me being sad that I had just had a guy that I liked dump me. I had tears in my eyes. So the girlfriend I was eating lunch with put her arm around my shoulders. I believe she said something like "There, there. There are other fish in the sea."
THE END
(I got over the guy....eventually)

While I agree that Glee is making an extremely Big point of "gay" being just like any other attribute one might have, I think that they are trying to be a positive influence in cutting down on the acceptability of hazing that gay students have had to endure. Anything that will lead to a "live and let live" culture is okay in my book. Probably living in Florida, I am more aware that a lot of work remains to be done before everyone can feel "safe" to be who they are.
That being said...I'd be happier if the whole show took the "sexual tone" down a notch and was more of the family friendly music fest it was in the beginning.

that I was completely blindsided by the end. Maybe it will make teens aware that no one knows how much time is allotted to them and living each day joyfully and to the best use you can make of it would be a wise thing to do.
