Warehouse 13 Empty Warehouse 13

Post  Berry 2009-07-07, 23:31

Warehouse 13 premiered on Syfy tonight. It's about 2 secret security types who get assigned to a big warehouse full of supernatural stuff (like where THE ARK from Indiana Jones' Adventure ended up) . I liked it and will tune in again.

I saw this too. Craig went to bed and this morning I made the same analogy about the "The Ark" that you did Berry.

I'm not ready to give it a thumbs up but will watch it at least two more times. It's got some possibilities.

I like the actor who plays the eccentric guy who is in charge of the warehouse. He was a bit over the top with it. But I think he'll calm down. And I laughed at him holding on and traveling at top speed while wearing a helmet just to get from one end of the warehouse to another...and the car that needed all hands on the bar to make it run. I love gadgets I guess. lol!

Shucks ...
Although I am not a big fan of Saul Rubinek (probably because of all the shady characters he has played), I did think that he gave a good portrayal of the biographer W.W. Beauchamp in Unforgiven!
So ... I'll watch the next episode to give this show a chance!

Good...I have a soft spot for good character actors. I never even knew his name, just that I have seen and believed him in many roles for many years. The lead agent is good but the woman is just the usual non-expressive eye candy.

Saul played a similar character in The Lost Room, ie, the "keeper" of odd objects. The female lead, Joanne Kelly, seems to have a skeletal defect, notice the different heights of her shoulders. But I'll watch again.....

Among Tuesday premieres, SyFy's Warehouse 13 scored 3.5 mil, ranking as the cabler's No. 3 premiere of all time (behind Stargate Atlantis and Eureka).

I watched it (pilot and 2nd eppie) Monday. I thought it was pretty good. I will watch again although if I miss it I won't cry! tongue

Saul Rubinek was on Stargate SG1 for a couple of episodes too. He had a crush on Dr. Janet Fraiser in the episode when she died in combat from a staff blast! Very traumatic!!! hair raising

Doctor Janet Fraiser
Active Duty Joint Forces, Unit SGC
SGC Medical Officer Cheyenne Mountain Facility (1997-2004)
Dr. Fraiser is a military doctor and Captain. General Hammond hand picked her to work in the SGC because of her expertise in exotic diseases. Dr. Fraiser's skill and compassion enable her to face the most peculiar cases brought to her by the SG teams.

HEROES, PART 1

EPISODE NUMBER - 717
DVD DISC - Season 7, Disc 4
ORIGINAL U.S. AIR DATE - 02.13.04
SYNDICATION AIR DATE - 02.21.05
WRITTEN BY - Robert C. Cooper
DIRECTED BY - Andy Mikita
GUEST STARRING - Saul Rubinek (Bregman), Adam Baldwin (Colonel Dave Dixon), Ronny Cox (Senator Kinsey), Dan Shea (Sergeant Siler)

A film crew arrives to document the work of the S.G.C. for eventual disclosure to the public, but finds that the base's personnel are less than eager to participate. This episode is part one of two, followed by "Heroes, Part 2"

PRODUCTION
# "We're doing a bit of a weird departure where the president of the U.S. hires a producer/journalist who comes to the S.G.C. to do a documentary on what happens there. Ostensibly, they are there to film the 1,000th trip through the Stargate, but in fact it's part of this political ploy whereby the president is on his way out. He's finished his second term and basically realises the Stargate program is going to go public at some point and wants to have some say in the manner in which it is portrayed. At the same time he wants his view to be presented as an impartial document and hires this hard-hitting journalist whom he thinks will be able to do the job."
(Executive producer Michael Greenburg, in an interview with Cult Times magazine [special issue #26])

# "This guy is sort of intense, intelligent and a hard-nosed journalist and we're not sure how he is going to portray our heroes. It's all told from the point of view of the camera crew, who are, in fact, not allowed to film any of the ongoing current activities and just end up doing interviews. There is one scene where our journalist really grills Carter about her relationship with Colonel O'Neill. Whether she answers the question or not, just to see Carter squirm in that situation will be a lot of fun."
(Executive producer Robert C. Cooper, in an interview with Cult Times magazine [special issue #26])

# "Firefly's Adam Baldwin guested on the show, appearing in the late season two part 'Heroes.' Sitting in the room watching the dailies, we were blown away by his performance (while Adam was almost literally blown away by the plethora of explosives director Andy Mikita set up for one unbelievable sequence). Word from the set was that Adam loved doing the show. Without a doubt, we'd love to have him back."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in his GateWorld blog)

HEROES, PART 2

EPISODE NUMBER - 718
DVD DISC - Season 7, Disc 5
ORIGINAL U.S. AIR DATE - 02.20.04
SYNDICATION AIR DATE - 04.18.05
WRITTEN BY - Robert C. Cooper
DIRECTED BY - Andy Mikita
GUEST STARRING - Robert Picardo (Agent Woolsey), Adam Baldwin (Colonel Dave Dixon), Saul Rubinek (Emmett Bregman), Ronny Cox (Senator Kinsey)
SG-1 is called into action while a film crew is documenting the Stargate program, but the
S.G.C. comes under investigation after the mission goes terribly wrong.

This episode is part two of two, following "Heroes, Part 1"

PRODUCTION
# "Originally, this script was intended as a fun, different, episode and, along the way, took a very serious turn. This one also resulted in a pretty heavy debate in the writer's room. Suffice it to say, not everyone was in agreement on how this episode should end. That said, I think Robert did a masterful job. It's one of the best scripts he's ever written and is a wonderful salute to the unsung heroes who serve our countries."
(Our Stargate online chat with executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

# "The outgoing president sends documentary filmmakers to document the goings-on at the S.G.C. Originally, the story was pitched as kind of a light, fun, behind the scenes at the S.G.C., documentary style storyline where we follow around the camera crew and they interview SG-1 and various people involved in the Stargate program. Of course, because it's top secret, they can get close, but they can never get close enough. Then along the way, in the room, it kind of took a darker turn. An off-world mission takes place, and tragedy strikes. Not everybody in the room agreed with the direction the story took, but that said, I think it's an excellent story. Robert did a wonderful job on the script, and it's a tribute to the unsung heroes serving in the armed forces."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in an interview with the Stargate SG-1 Explorer Unit)

# "'Heroes' is a very exciting two part episode that has finally finished shooting. This one will engender some very strong reactions from the fans."
(Co-executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a chat at StarGateNews.De)

# "I think so far this season, my favorite is the two-part episode 'Heroes.' I think it's the best television we've done on the series in seven years. It's the most compelling drama, it's the most topical, and it has a great cast, an absolutely great cast. We've got Robert Picardo, and Saul Rubinek, and of course our cast. It's just a really well-acted, special Stargate, because it's really good television. I put it up there with the West Wing, Practice kind of stuff."
(Executive producer Michael Greenburg, in an interview with the Stargate SG-1 Explorer Unit official fan club)

# "I'll tell you something, and I'd like to go on the record. 'Heroes' is the best show we've ever made. Andy did an amazing job of it. Saul Rubinek did an incredible job. Our ensemble cast came together in that one in a magical way that I haven't seen before. I loved watching 'Heroes.' I watched it with Amanda Tapping. Watching anything with Amanda is ridiculous. You can't watch a show with Amanda because she hates everything she does, and she just can't stand anything anybody else does when they're acting with her. She's just so self critical. In this one, she knows she did a good job. We were sitting there looking at it, and it ended, and both of us looked at each other afterward and went ... Wow. That's a very powerful thing.

"You know what is the difference in 'Heroes' from everything else we've done? Robert Cooper sat down, and came up with a story that was a dramatic story, inside what we normally do. Inside the show that we normally do, is an oasis of drama in 'Heroes,' and it doesn't feel like anything that we've done before. Saul came in and acted his heart out, and Don Davis, the scenes with Don Davis in 'Heroes' are incredible. Michael's great, Chris is great, Amanda's great, and Rick's great. It's really well done. It was a beautiful way of doing what they did.

"When you're going to take a major character, and take them out of the show, you have to do it that way, because it's the only way you can actually deal with that. And it is wonderful."
(SG-1 director Martin Wood, in an interview with the Stargate SG-1 Explorer Unit official fan club)

# What is your favorite team episode from Season Seven? "I would have to say 'Heroes,' just because it shows the team at their most vulnerable. It shows the team at their most dire, and I think emotionally for every single one of the actors it was a huge arc for all of us. I think it just shows what it means to be a part of this team and what it means to be a part of this organization, and how much you're willing to sacrifice, and what the emotional toll is when that happens."

Many have said that "Heroes" is two of Stargate's best hours ever. "I think so, and I think that all the actors felt that way. It's just a really special episode. It's a departure in a lot of ways, I mean especially the first part with the documentary crew and seeing each of the team members out of their element, you know, in front of the cameras and having to talk about what they've kept secret for so long. But then it's got great action and great drama coming up."

What did you find appealing about the episode? "To play that emotional arc. And also what I found appealing for me was Sam Carter on the edge. You know, Sam Carter, first of all, in the first part being so nervous and so tentative in front of the cameras, and that's just kind of fun to play that sort of angst and that nervousness. And then, of course, in the second half it's just a highly charged emotion the whole time."
(Actress Amanda Tapping, in an interview with GateWorld)

# "Saul Rubinek brought something to 'Heroes' that nobody expected and it was just amazing."
(Actress Amanda Tapping, in an interview with GateWorld)

# "I think probably you will see a lot of what our characters ultimately are in 'Heroes' -- what makes who these people ultimately are, I think is going to happen in 'Heroes.'"
(Actress Amanda Tapping, in an interview with GateWorld)

# "I feel Robert Cooper did a wonderful job of showing the sacrifices the men and women of the military make. If you have ever attended a con that I have been at, [you know that] I am a huge supporter of the military. And to quote Don S. Davis, it's not the soldiers that start wars, it's the politicians. My character was used as a tool, to show that tragedies do happen. Sad, but true."
(Actress Teryl Rothery, in a message at the Wolf Events Chat Room)

Warehouse 13's S2 Premier will begin next week ... night is changing to Tuesday!

WAREHOUSE 13 S2 Premieres Tuesday, July 13th 2010

Good news, Season 2 of Syfy’s series WAREHOUSE 13 will premiere this summer on Tuesday, July 13.

The new season will contain 13 episodes and begin production this March in Toronto. Series regulars, Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly, Saul Rubinek and Allison Scagliotti, along with series guest star, CCH Pounder all return for this new season. In addition, Nolan Gerard Funk (Nickelodeon’s Spectacular) will guest star in a four-episode storyline. Funk will portray Todd, a tech savvy local who takes a special romantic interest in Claudia (Scagliotti). This budding relationship will be put to the test by the secrets they are forced to keep from one another.

Warehouse 13 was one of the best surprises from last year, I started off not enjoying the show too much, but it definitely grew on me and got better and better and now I can’t wait for it to be back.

Warehouse 13 follows two Secret Service agents who find themselves abruptly transferred to a massive, top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse’s caretaker Artie (Saul Rubinek) charges Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the Warehouse, as well as helping him to control the Warehouse itself.
