5 minute trailer shown at Comic Con.  Presumably scenes from multiple S8 episodes not just one ep.

Kirkman at Comic Con. Clears up some speculation.  So there won't be a cure, but if we look at the situation as it exists we know that all the Walkers presently in existence were once alive then died, then became Walkers as the virus became active. There are of course a certain number of deaths each day mostly from natural causes, accidents, etc. But over the several years that the period of the Walking Dead covers, how many deaths from all causes can there have been in that region of Georgia even if a big city, Atlanta, was involved ?  It seems there were thousands and thousands, conservatively speaking, as seen in the episodes over the years, more than seemingly would be likely. That's something I've always wondered about and no one has asked the question as far as I know. scratch

So by using the published deaths per 100k population in Georgia per year ,846 per 100K, and using the approx. present population of Georgia,10,450,000 we arrive at the approx. number of annual total  deaths in Georgia of 88,400. This would , I suppose, supply the needed number of Walkers as seen on the show but the majority would have to be "on the road" to show up every where as they have been each season.

Why It Doesn't Matter If There's a Cure on 'The Walking Dead'

We're heading into Season 8 of The Walking Dead and there's no end in sight for the zombie apocalypse. Now The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has admitted that there's no hope for a cure in the comics or on the show at all. But does that really matter?

Finding a cure has always been in the back of fans' minds during The Walking Dead. Rick and the gang went to the CDC full of hope, and, well, it exploded. Then Abraham and Rosita were determined to complete their mission and get Eugene to Washington D.C. so he could save them all. And that, of course, turned out to be one big lie.

Now Kirkman has officially revealed that there won't be a cure on The Walking Dead. When a fan asked at Comic-Con whether a character would be immune to the virus or if the characters would start looking for a cure, Kirkman [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], "When we get questions like these, we like to not be as definitive as possible, because we don't want to reveal anything. But the answers are 'no' and 'no.'"

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

"On one, because it's been done on a lot of other zombie stories. And on two, because you know, it's kind of a mythology-breaking proposition," he [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. "You don't want that kind of thing as far as somebody being immune. And we have dabbled in that a little bit in the other show [Fear the Walking Dead]."

But at the end of the day, does it even matter if there's a cure? Yes, it's a zombie show and the Walkers make the show scary. But The Walking Dead is really about the people and communities. It's about what happens to you when you're put in this kind of situation and who you become when you're struggling to survive. As the conflicts with big bads like the Governor and now Negan show, The Walking Dead is about how the people can be the real monsters.

As Kirkman said, having a show about scientists working on a cure would make The Walking Dead "unrelatable." The show is "about people and their struggles to survive," he [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

"To go off and try to solve this would be a boring show, so definitely not," he [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. "But it's a good question."

At this point, the Walkers have just become a part of the world Rick and the gang are living in. Their focus isn't on ending the apocalypse or finding a cure. It's on surviving. And it's on the conflicts with other groups. Alexandria, the Kingdom and the Hilltop are banding together to fight back against Negan and the Saviors rather than concentrating on the Walkers.

Do you think there should be a cure? Should The Walking Dead focus more on the Walkers? Leave your comments below!

The Walking Dead will return on October 22 at 9/8c on AMC. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

There's going to be a crossover between TWD and FTWD for a character in season 8 but that's all they are saying.  woohoo

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

"While they want the two shows in the shared universe to tell their own stories and have their own identities, Kirkman teased, "There are two Walking Dead shows. There is one character that is going to go from one show that I will not name and appear in the other show which I will not name."

That was a good premire. The 2 hour live Talking Dead show afterward at the Greek Theater in LA with 6,000 rowdy fans was really something. Almost all the cast were there except those that were out of the country working on other projects, Steven Yeun and Sarah Wayne Callies. Even Michael Rooker from S1 showed up, he played Darryl's brother, got chained up on a roof, chopped off his hand to escape. He ran out on stage near the end carrying a big helium balloon that spelled out 100 in separate numbers for the S8 premire being the 100th ep. Most of them couldn't believe it that they made it this far. two thumbs up

The second half of S8 in Feb.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It says that the video is only supported in Windows 10, but it played okay with my W7.

Of course the big controversy now is if Carl really got bitten by a Walker and will die in the second half.  Scott M. Gimple sort of danced around the question on the latest The Talking Dead but still intimated that he will die.  But one thing that doesn't make sense to me is that when Carl lifted his shirt and showed the wound on his side it didn't look too much like a bite mark and also there was no marks at all on his long shirt. So if he was bitten how did a Walker manage to do it through his shirt without leaving any holes/tears/marks/ etc. ?  Could it be that they are playing us for another "Glenn rolls under the dumpster" situation back when Glenn was apparently eaten by a gang of Walkers right at the end of the season, and we waited in horror until the beginning of the next season revealed he had rolled under a dumpster where the Walkers couldn't reach him.
Carl's injury could be entirely unrelated to a Walker bite.

"I know that some fans online have been very upset, but that's by design," Kirkman explained in an interview with EW. "We're not supposed to be happy when these characters die. We are supposed to be worried about what comes next, and anticipating what comes next, and stressing about what comes next. That just shows that you're engaged and you're interested. Our job is to now pay that off and fulfill that interest, and prove that this was a decision worth making. That's what we've got to do."

Oh thanks. I feel so much better now. Rolling Eyes

The only'good' thing about Carl's death is that Chandler will be able to accept new roles, and I suspect he has some good ones lined up.  Hopefully as good as Sonequa Martin-Green has done with Star Trek. two thumbs up

This doesn't look that good, but at least he's got some good co-actors.

It sounds like Lauren is going to leave after S8. She's already made some movies, and that new TV show sounds fairly good, at this point. Maggie hasn't been featured much lately so her absence wouldn't be as noticeable as in earlier season when Glenn was still there. But....I doubt if they would kill her off while she is pregnant. That's a plot line no-no for virtually all shows. Not even TWD writers would violate that. So....she would either have to go somewhere else with the baby and never come back, or ideally she could just make cameo appearances as her new scheds. allow, but that doesn't seem likely. It's a conundrum for sure. scratch

A rough episode to swallow.  Cry  On The Talking Dead Chandler Riggs seemed a little surprised at all the accolades given him for his acting in that ep. They did a nice retrospective of his best scenes and seasons. He literally grew up on the show, 8 years, starting when he was 10.

The problem with this theory is that Jadis would have to find some minions to back her up in order to be a true villain as defined in the WD world. Any WD villain has to have a sufficient number of minions, it's not enough to just be a psycho killer. The Governor had his minions, of course Negan has his, Jadis was more of a villain when the 'junk yard folk' were still alive. If she wanders alone in the rest of S8 and into S9 she will just be a pathetic creature of no importance, not even deserving of our pity. Such is life in the world of The Walking Dead ! beatdown

This could be a major development, I don't read the comics so don't know how the plots compare between them and TV. I saw Jane Atkinson on The Talking Dead last night and there was no mention of how she may be the character from further in the comic book plots. I have never watched House of Cards so wasn't famiiiar with her.

But, I suspect that they won't do a time jump to coincide with the comic book timeline and her character on The Walking Dead is not related to the comic book character.  But.....her request for records (music albums only, no spoken narrations) does line up with what happens in the Commonwealth plot line.  So it's a mystery at this point and could portend big changes in TWD plot lines. scratch Certainly nothing to meddle with when they have miilions of rabid fans ready to pounce at the slightest hint of uncertainty. affraid

What's missing in these 'bullet making' scenes is the gun powder. It doesn't matter if they have the scales and cartridge dies, etc. (which I don't see either), without gunpowder the empty used and/or new cartridge cases are useless.  Also, the ending scene showing the primer extending up above the butt end of the case has prompted some to point out that this would render the round inoperative if it should try to be fired. So, maybe Eugene is deliberately sabotaging Negan's ammo production.  scratch

This is what they need to do a proper reloading job. Halfway measures can be dangerous , and given the various calibers of all the different guns they use, rifles. pistols, full auto AK47s, bolt actions, etc., etc., the amount of equipment they would need would be much greater than if they were only reloading one caliber.

I just realized something......so to check what I was thinking  I got out my Ruger Mini 14 and loaded a round into it. The bullets are of course brand new, properly loaded at the factory with the primers recessed as they should be.

Inserting the bullet in the chamber and sliding the slide slowly forward I could see how the firing pin 'collar' surrounded the back of the cartridge with the firing pin recessed until the trigger was pulled (which of course I didn't do) which is the way you want it to work. But....with the primer not seated properly and sticking out behind the cartridge base as shown in Eugene's video,  soon as the operator lets the slide fly forward after reloading with a full magazine of improperly seated primers, the firing pin will instantly contact the raised primer and the gun will fire before the trigger is touched.

This will come as quite a surprise to the operator and no telling what direction the gun will be pointing when it fires. Then....in a semi-auto gun the firing of the bullet will cause it to recycle automatically; the slide will fly backward, the spent cartridge will be ejected, a new round will pop up from the magazine, and the slide will fly forward pushing the bullet into the chamber awaiting the next trigger pull. But.....now the firing pin contacts the raised primer again and the gun fires again  before the trigger is touched.

This sequence happens in a fraction of a second and now the operator has a full auto weapon on his/her hands, spewing bullets who knows where until he/she can get it under control, only by pulling the magazine and/or pointing it safely until the rounds run out or if they are lucky it will jam.. At any rate this will be quite a surprise and how they represent this sequence on the show will be interesting. scratch And poor  'ol Eugene will be in big trouble with Negan. affraid
