Julie Chen Reveals the 'Big Brother' All-Star She'd Bring Back, Plus Her Favorite Twist
Tuesday, August 09, 2016

Big Brother loves its big twists. Every season there are multiple wrenches thrown in the gameplay that force houseguests to scramble to adapt. Being the host of the franchise since the very beginning, Julie Chen has seen them all. Julie opened up about her favorites (and least favorites) in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight. This is just the tip of the iceberg in Julie's newest Big Brother confession. Perhaps the juiciest detail from the interview, however, is the one Big Brother All-Star that Julie would like to see return to the game.

If you ask any Big Brother fan they probably have a twist that they immediately can say they hate without question. Julie Chen is no different. When it comes to her least favorite twist, it is the short-lived Big Brother Takeover from Big Brother 17. It's the twist that saw celebrities, often from the CBS family, taking over the game for a week and adding something new.

"It didn't work," Julie explains. "It's like, 'Well, how are you taking over? Are you really taking over? Are you just taking over one game, which is like one little angle of this moment in the Big Brother house?' The good news is, we try things, and when they don't work, we cut our losses."

As for her favorite twist, Julie has a few examples. She is a really big fan of Big Brother 18's Roadkill twist. "I'm really sad to see Roadkill go. I loved that twist this year," Julie said. "Having a secret winner who can secretly nominate a third houseguest for eviction? There was a lot of paranoia, a lot of misleads. You know, that was nice... It added a really good dynamic to the game. I think we could have kept that going another week or two at least."

A bit further in the past however, Julie really likes the twist from season 4 which saw exes thrown into the house together. She even has a few improvements about how it could be brought back. "I really liked season 4, where we threw in ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends. That was very interesting," Julie explains. "I think the exes twist would work well if everybody had an ex in there. That season, it was only, I think, four [people]. It was just a handful, it wasn't everybody."

Are the Big Brother 18 Care Packages Causing Too Much Resentment? >>>

Of course, the one twist that nearly every Big Brother viewer can agree works is the All-Stars twist. Big Brother has brought back a house full of returning favorites once before and a lot of signs point towards another All-Stars season coming down the line soon. As far as Julie is concerned the next season should be all former winners with one exception.

"I would like to see Janelle Pierzina get another shot," Julie reveals. "She's one of the best players we've had, and she's a fan favorite. She played it honestly, openly. She didn't suck up to people she didn't like. She won competitions fair and square. I think she deserves a win and another chance."

But what do you think? Do you agree with Julie? Do you think Big Brother Takeover didn't work? Would you want to see Janelle return for another All-Stars season? Who is your dream roster for an All-Stars season?

One on my 'dream roster' would be Daniele Donato-Briones. Now that she's married she probably wouldn't want to, but sufficient $$ might lure her back.

You may wonder why the two females that actually won aren't on his 10 best list.  I do too, but I guess he picked the ones that 'riled things up' the most even if they didn't win. But Rachel Reilly really riled things up at least in being totally polarizing among the fans. But Jordan LLoyd was so sweet and "America's Sweetheart" that she didn't rile things up at all. Interesting that both of them eventually married their showmances and so did Daniele Donato.
