So now we know why Megan left.....never had this happen before.

Why Did Megan Lowder Leave 'Big Brother 19'?
Friday, June 30, 2017

John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV

Big Brother 19 is definitely off a rocky start as, before the live feeds even started, two HGs were gone. Cameron was evicted on the first night, but in a rare chain of events, another HG, Megan Lowder, left the game. Why did she do it?

Megan, the 28-year-old dog walker and former Navy interrogator, left the show and walked out of the house without informing her fellow HGs and on the live feeds we've heard accounts that she was caught in a web of lies involving racial slurs, got into a huge fight and then went into the diary room and never came back.

Now we have Megan's official statement as she is outside of the house and out of the game. In an interview with the Desert Sun, Megan revealed that when she was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the victim of a sexual assault and had severe PTSD from that traumatic event. In the Big Brother 19 house, being yelled at by large guys like Josh, Cody and Mark triggered her PTSD, giving her a panic attack, causing her to throw up and ultimately leading to her leaving the game.

She spent several days in the hospital, then was released and is now back home with her friends and family. Megan says it was a mutual decision between her and the producers that she would not return to the house.

In addition, Megan commented on the rumored reason for her leaving based on what the HGs have been saying on the live feeds. Megan claims that she overheard Jessica refer to Alex as a "Panda," which she took as a derogatory slur about Alex being Asian. Megan says she may have misheard, but she reported it back to Alex and that led to a big fight with Alex, Jessica and Coody.

Megan says she was already talking to the producers about leaving before that incident, but her ensuing panic attack made it clear that leaving was the correct decision for her.

Alex wins the first POV ! This is significant because she had demonstrated high physical abilities in the first HOH comp. She will be considered a serious threat from now on.

'Big Brother 19' Spoilers: Who Won the First Power of Veto?
Friday, June 30, 2017

Senior Writer, BuddyTV

It's been a very busy first 24 hours of live feeds on Big Brother 19. There are alliances, showmances, temptations and one HG who quit the game. Now we know the results of the first Power of Veto competition, giving us a glimpse into how the week will unfold.

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 19 spoilers.

Megan left the game. Afterwards, Cody had to re-nominate and put Alex on the block next to Jillian. Matt, Raven and Jason were also picked to play for the PoV. In addition, Paul got the first Temptation and accepted it, giving him immunity for the first three weeks.

Alex won the Power of Veto!

Wow, now we have an exciting first week. Alex was definitely the target, pegged as the biggest physical threat by the dominant alliance (Coy, Matt, Mark, Jessica, Raven, Elena, Christmas, Dominique and Paul). But what's the back-up plan?

Cody and the showmances (Jessica, Matt, Raven, Mark and Elena) are looking at Jason as the replacement nominee and the target because he's so close to Alex. Christmas seems to want Ramses out instead, but it's doubtful she'll get her way since the core wants Jason out.

This definitely throws a big monkey wrench into the power alliance's plans, which is always fun. Now they have to scramble and Cody will have to put a fourth person on the block in his first week as HoH.

UPDATE: In the hours after the PoV competition, new information emerged. First, Cody has expressed his respect and admiration for Alex as a competitor, saying that she deserves to stay in the house. This is confusing to the people in his unofficial alliance as they all dislike Alex and want her out.

The bigger news is that Cody went to Mark and told him that he wants to make a deal with Alex and Jason so they will protect the couples and Dominique next week in exchange for safety. It sounds like Cody doesn't want to actually nominate Jason. He has another name in mind, but he's keeping it a secret and didn't tell Mark. Could he be planning to backdoor Ramses instead? Or is it Paul, the returning player who Cody repeatedly said he didn't trust in the two-night premiere?

If it's Paul, and Cody wants it to be a blindside by not telling anyone, there could be major problems. First, if Cody doesn't give his own unofficial alliance a heads-up that he wants to backdoor one of their own numbers (technically, Paul is part of The Nine, the unnamed, unofficial alliance with Cody, Matt, Mark, Jessica, Raven, Elena, Dominique and Christmas), those allies will be furious afterwards.

The bigger problem could be that Paul has the Pendant of Protection, but he's keeping it a secret. If Cody tries to nominate him, Paul would most likely have to reveal that he accepted the first Temptation and has immunity, thus forcing Cody to pick yet another nominee. And that's awful because not only did he not tell his alliance about his secret plan, but he will expose that he wanted Paul out without being able to do it. In terms of creating fantastic drama and an amazing moment on TV, I really hope this is what will happen.

FUN FACTS

-Winning the first Power of Veto has been a very good thing in recent seasons. On Over the Top, Jason won it and on season 18, Paul won it, with both finishing in second place. Steve won it in season 17 and he won the game. In seasons 14 and 15, the first PoV was won by the person who finished in fourth place (Shane and McCrae).

-Alex is the first woman to win the first PoV by herself since Daniele Donato in season 8. Women also won the first PoV in seasons 9 and 13, but because of twists the competitions were won by male/female duos.

Now on day 11 the HGs were allowed outside in the yard on the live feeds but have just now been told to go back inside as the yard is prepared for some future comp/activity. They are P/O . But now they are back out, no evidence of what production did out there.

Anything significant  happening today is unlikely.  Which is good because I have to watch the Daytona race at 5 pm. two thumbs up

Sociopaths can be "entertaining" for awhile but eventually the other HGs get tired of it and boot them early on. Jozea from last season was a 'classic' example and was booted right away. It's possible that Josh may last longer because of his crying jags and begging for forgiveness, a classic ploy for a sociopath. Wife beaters are the 'best' examples in the outside world.  To his credit Josh has not physically threatened any HG, which would have caused the producers to immediately boot him. The last time that specifically happened was back 4-5 seasons ago when one of the Hantz brothers was cast. They were ratings 'gold' for CBS on Survivor, father and son, so I guess they thought that another brother would be good on BB. But the close proximity was more than he could handle and early on his physical threats against  another HG caused him to be shown the door. Since then CBS has apparently decided that a family of overbearing, brutal members isn't 'good' TV anymore.

This never made it past the pilot...a good thing .

Is Josh on 'Big Brother 19' Crazy Fun or Just Crazy Annoying?

Is Josh on 'Big Brother 19' Crazy Fun or Just Crazy Annoying?

Derek Stauffer

In recent memory, each season of Big Brother has had at least one "crazy" houseguest. Starting with Jeremy from Big Brother 15 and moving to Jozea from Big Brother 18, the series has had one contestant who is way too off their rocker way too early into the season. Big Brother 19's flavor of crazy, at least for now, is Josh Martinez. While it is understandably frustrating that Big Brother has cast yet another houseguest who is more emotionally unstable than a great player of the game, there is something magically deranged about Josh. Josh is nutty but he's the type of nutty that makes great TV.

Big Brother 19 Spoilers: Who Won the First Den of Temptation?>>>

Terrible Gameplay, Terrific TV

There seemed to be something up with Josh when he was just a little too excited that Paul had entered the game. This was just a tease. In the second episode of Big Brother 19, Josh went on an emotional roller coaster that was simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting to watch. After starting off very low after watching Cameron get voted out on the first night Josh began to cry. Josh's weeping didn't last long and quickly gave way to anger as he turned his sights (harshly) on Megan and really anyone in the house who challenged him. Josh went from manically enraged to deeply depressed with an alarming regularity in the second episode of BB19. Even though Josh's mood swings were likely edited together and compressed, the events only took place over two or three days. Classic sociopath.

Josh's most insane move though was probably picking up the Golden Apple, which secured his safety for the week and threw his entire team under the bus. The advantage to snatching the Golden Apple was so outweighed by its disadvantages. It seemed like no one in their right mind would choose it but this is exactly what happened. Josh might be many things but being in his right mind certainly isn't one of them.

Josh is playing one of the worst games in Big Brother 19. He has no friends, just those who pity him and tons of enemies. Josh is not only the archetypal crazy contestant, he is the foolish houseguest who thinks with their heart (or "gut") and not their head. These types of players never do well and if they do last a long time in the game it's not due to their own methods. They are being dragged along by loyal allies for numbers. Josh has all of the baggage of someone like Vanessa but with none of the actual social skills to convince anyone to work with him. Josh's game is almost completely over before it's begun but he needs to stay in the Big Brother house because he is so entertainingly wacky.

The Best of the Worst

The entertainment value of Josh's antics is going to run dry sooner rather than later, especially since there are always three episodes of Big Brother a week. Josh does not have a long shelf life with the audience or the rest of the house which doesn't separate him much from previous unstable contestants. Yet Josh's real shining quality as a crazy person is he is just not upset about one thing, it is everything.

Previous wacky contestants had just one issue and had it really magnified in the house. Big Brother 17's Audrey was a compulsive liar who played way too hard, way too quickly. BB18's Jozea was an egomaniac who had no social awareness or understanding of the game. Jeremy had a laser-focus hatred towards contestants who did not deserve it and Devin from BB16 was insanely paranoid and insecure. Josh somehow combines all these separate weirdos' worst qualities into one explosive package.

Is There Something 'Off' About Kevin on 'Big Brother 19?'>>>

The main problem with most of Big Brother's nutty contestants is that they get repetitive very quickly. They harp on the same issues or repeat the same unstable behavior over and over. There is no such baseline with Josh. He is up, down and all the over place. It is concerning thinking about Josh's mental health as a person. Yet as a figure in a reality TV show Josh is fantastic because he is not only far from boring, his lack of filter stirs up some very interesting drama.

The animosity that everyone displayed towards Megan after Josh blew up at her seemed random (based on the editing) but Josh wasn't wrong about Megan being a threat. Megan was one of the few players aggressively trying to rally an early alliance and set up power moves. Josh should have felt threatened by her but the reasonable thing would have to keep his eye on her but say nothing. Josh is so volatile that he couldn't help but confront Megan about his suspicions and the result was riveting reality TV melodrama.

It is always better for Big Brother to cast someone that can stir things up because they are a good player, not because they are just a little off-center. It's a casting decision that has become a trope at this point. Josh is just so compellingly crazy. He needs to stay in the house and have multiple meltdowns in the same episode as long as humanly possible.

So what do you make of Josh? Is he good TV or just embarrassing? Is there any chance of him salvaging the pieces of his game? Do you hope he makes a turnaround?

Big Brother 19 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c, Thursdays at 9/8c and Sundays at 8/7c on CBS. Want more news? Like our Big Brother Facebook page!

While Kevin does have his 'oddities' I would say that at this point he exhibits the 'symptoms' of the classic 'floater'. How long he can maintain this persona remains to be seen but he certainly won't win or even get into the final 3. Getting into the final 5 is possible but unlikely, imho.

Is There Something 'Off' About Kevin on 'Big Brother 19?'

Derek Stauffer
Contributing Writer, BuddyTV

Big Brother 19 saw the return of the series' biggest self-made character, Paul "FRIENDSHIP" Abrahamian. But the biggest personality might be a brand-new player. In the two-part Big Brother 19 premiere Kevin Schlehuber made quite the impression for reasons other than being the first to take one of the season's temptations. Kevin feels like he has been grown in a reality TV contestant lab and is a weird (but wonderful) mixture of several standard trashy TV conventions. Yet for all his strangeness Kevin might just be a genuine threat in the game.

Big Brother 19 Recap: The First HoH and Nominations Split the House>>>

We Need to Talk About Kevin

There are several contributing factors that lead to Kevin feeling just a little off. The biggest one is that he has clearly no idea how anything in Big Brother works. Though Kevin is far from the only recruit in Big Brother 19 he is the most blatant about his ignorance. When Paul entered the game, Kevin was clueless about why anyone cared he was back. Later when Nicole came into the house, Kevin didn't even get up from the couch while the rest of the house swarmed her like adoring fans. Kevin's lack of knowledge isn't unique but his completely apathy to even pretending he cares does make him stand out.

There is there Kevin's whole facade as a Boston wise guy. Kevin's pre-recorded introduction package leaned heavily into a cultivated Godfather or Goodfellas aesthetic. It seems like a complete put-on to just make it on TV but it might not be entirely false. As was reported by the Boston Globe in 2006, Kevin's father, who he name-dropped as "The Big Cheese," was arrested for cocaine trafficking when he was 69. Kevin's son of a gangster (or a mobster himself) routine might seem over-the-top but there is some basis in fact. Yet as much Kevin leans into the mob persona, everything else he does conflicts with it.

Kevin's appearance is so at odds with his wiseguy behavior. Kevin's head is often tied up in a man bun, he has one section of his hair highlighted blonde and his wardrobe choices are all over the place. Kevin is trying to be about five different decades' definition of "cool" at the same time and it is just as bizarre as it is distracting. Kevin is an enigma and doesn't seem to know what type of person he is or what he wants to be in the house or in life. While this is not odd for a Big Brother contestant that's only because the average age of Big Brother contestants is usually somewhere in the range of early to mid 20s. Your 20s are a decade of self-discovery and experimentation but Kevin is pushing 60 and seems just as scattered as those half his age.

Stumbling into Success

Kevin's strangeness might just benefit him in the game. Kevin's weird and seemingly more than a little socially inept. The only connection Kevin has made thus far in the game is with social pariah Josh but Kevin is also incredibly unamusing. No one is going to bother to target Kevin or waste energy on getting him out of the house. The house is already totally divided and Kevin is sitting in a perfect position. He is perfectly straddling the middle of the line. Kevin's not making any big allies but he's not making enemies either. In Big Brother seasons that are this contentious this early, it is usually oddball floaters like Kevin who do very well and even win.

Big Brother 19 Spoilers: Who Quit the Game?>>>

Kevin's only real obstacle is probably an alpha-male like Cody. In the second episode of BB19 fans were treated to several "one things" that Cody cannot stand in other people, including selfishness, giving up, lying, etc. Somewhere on Cody's lists of number one offenses, being a floater must be among them. He said as much in his pre-season interview. Luckily for Kevin, Cody's social game is so atrocious (read: nonexistent) that he is going to be targeted or eliminated far before he can set his sights on Kevin.

Cody's persona is so "icy" most of the time that the other HGs may eventually notice it and decide to boot him and it is likely to happen earlier than Kevin as Derek says.

Kevin's chimera-esque personality and style make him a very odd duck but it allows him to sneak into the background. It would be a very disappointing season if Kevin won or even made it to the end. While the season has just started, Kevin has made it pretty clear that he doesn't have much intention of aggressively playing the game. Still, no matter how strange or passive Kevin might be he is still starting the game in one of the best positions of the house.

So what do you make of Kevin? Why do you think he is a little strange? Do you find him strange at all? Do you think his outcast nature will help his game or hurt him eventually?

This guy is dangerous to go all the way. I find him annoying to watch but at least he is mentally stable and knows what it takes to play the game.

Big Brother 19' Spoilers: Who Won the First Den of Temptation?
Friday, June 30, 2017

John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV

The new twist of Big Brother 19 is the Den of Temptation. Every week, America will vote to give one HG an offer. If they accept it there will be consequences in the house, but no one knows who got offered the temptation and what it is. We know that the first offer was the Pendant of Protection, which would give the recipient three weeks of immunity. So who got it?

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 19 spoilers.

Paul was given the offer in the Den of Temptation and he accepted it. Paul now has three weeks of immunity.

He thanked the viewers by talking directly to the camera and letting us know that he accepted the offer. However, he's keeping it a secret. I guess the twist is that no one will know about this unless somebody tries to nominate him. We still don't know what the consequences were for the house.

Currently Cody is HoH with Alex and Jillian on the block (following Megan quitting the show). Presumably, if the PoV is used and Cody tries to nominate Paul, then the Pendant of Protection would be exposed.

BB19 Spoilers: Megan Quits the Game>>>

Paul getting the first Den of Temptation offer is no surprise at all. As the only returning HG, he came in with a pre-existing fanbase so it was incredibly obvious that he was going to win the first vote and get three weeks of safety.

Paul also detailed a lot of his plan, which is to lay back, earn people's trust, give them good advice at start and then, later, use that trust to manipulate them. He's mostly watching people blow up their own games, like Josh, Jason and Ramses. Paul is very worried that the girls this season are ruthless and he wants to try to turn them against each other, like he did with Jessica, Alex and Megan.

Will Paul's immunity be exposed? Will he be able to make it to the end again?
