I only watched the last half hour to see the 'big winners' and avoid the anti-American, seditious, political speeches, so saw the screw up and wondered for a few seconds if it was a Kimmel prank. I've seen two of the nominated best pictures Arrival and Hell or High Water, and have no intentions of seeing any of the others, except Hack Saw Ridge which will be on HBO or Showtime, also LA LA,  very likely. I was specifically warned off the "Manchester" thing by friends who saw it, and the winner is bogus, LA LA should have won, but it was a political thing and "racial guilt" caused by last years flap over too many white people. One thing you can say about Emma Stone....she keeps her mouth shut about making political screeds. two thumbs up

I think the whole mess up smells like a Kimmel prank. He of the "get parents to tell children they shot Santa or ate all the Halloween candy" just to make them cry. Do not think it was the fault of Warren Beatty/ Faye Dunaway or Price/Waterhouse. Interesting to see what comes to light over time.

Manchester was just a depressing movie, nothing at all political about it. I knew parents who had children die in a similar way, so I found it to be touching...and I thought Michelle Williams gave an awfully good performance and was glad she got nominated. But I was happy with all the shows that did win. Except I haven't seen Moonlight yet, but will have to now that it has won a best picture.

At the moment it looks like Price-Waterhouse was the cause. They have apologized for giving the wrong envelope to Beatty. Can't blame him for being confused and not knowing how to react, so he went with what seemed to be the right thing to do at the time.

Yes, I owe Jimmy Kimmel an apology for jumping to conclusions. Embarassed

Still is an odd explanation. there are 2 sets of cards but they are kept on opposite sides of the curtain. So how did the guy handing out all the cards end up with the "extra" Emma Stone" card. Shouldn't he have handed the one he had to the presenter (and we know that she kept that one) ? I still don't understand how this happened.
