If nothing else, this thing is really state of the art CGI.....go look at the online trailer......better than the one on TV. Surely there must be ways to make money off the poor saps that will buy into the mythology in the actual 2012. People made money from Y2K...why not us ?

So...there's two movies right? One made for TV and one Theatrical? I just got though watching the history channel's version...gloom and doom...gloom and doom... I'm so tired of the media blowing things out of proportion....I don't know if I'll see the movie or not.

I happened to be watching Leno and saw part of the trailer. Very interesting. I like the trailers at the site posted above, especially the first one. A lot of the educational channels have been running programs about 2012 and about Nostradamus and other seers recently. Who knows what will happen in three years. :D

I don't think there are any TV versions other than the documentaries. It will take awhile for the major networks to ramp up to full "alarm mode".

But no worries ! The internet steps up with plenty of crazies to tide us over.....

I was showing the promo to a friend and he agrees with me that, even though it has good special effects, it somehow misses. Too much destruction. And that guy isn't a good pilot. He's flying too low after takeoff. He should be climbing as fast as he can. I'll probably wait for it to hit the premium movie channels.

When we were on our cruise in Costa Maya, we visited the Mayan Ruins. Our tour guide was a very educated Mexican (he had a master's in Mayan History). We asked about the 2012 theory and he said there is no truth to it. The year 2012 just happens to be the end of the one Mayan calendar, not the end of the world.
Another calendar would then carry on. It was very interesting and worth looking into if you are concerned about 2012.

Of course, there could always be some nut case terrorists out there that would use the date for their own destruction of the world.
