Re: Avatar
We have been talking about getting a new TV. Wonder if we should look for one with the capability. Does that mean that it can be upgraded in the future? We don't want to spend a HUGE amount on a TV.

Re: Avatar
No prices have been announced for the 3D sets coming out, or exactly when they will hit the market. It's very unlikely that any non-3D model presently available would be capable of being upgraded to 3D later on. If you are in the market for a new TV now but really, really want 3D capability your only practical choice is to wait, and to be ready to shell out the big $$. But there are plenty of good HDTV sets on the market right now in the 42"-50" range for well under $1000. I'm partial to Samsung or Sony but LG has some good ones that are a little cheaper.

Re: Avatar
Penny, keep in mind that several years ago......we bought one of the first "HD Ready" tvs. Then, when HD finally came out several years later....it did not quite work the way HD does today, and so it really didn't work as an HD TV. I don't know if the same would be true for 3D, but the speed at which technology changes.....almost everything is out of date the day after you buy it.

Re: Avatar
It would be very cool to watch The Lord of the Rings in 3D, and the first Matrix movie.
Banjo, please post what you hear from Samsung. I have two that are less than two years old. It would be cool if they are somehow 3D compatible or upgradable with an attachment or set-top-box or something.

Re: Avatar
Best thing and most amusing I've read about 3-D tv was an article talking about the impracticality of it, since most of us have a hard enough time keeping track of the remote, the many potential mysterious locations of the glassing may sink the whole thing.
Dude has a point.

We have so many different remotes that turn on different things that I have a hard time keeping track. Just when I've learned one, Ben buys something else and I'm lost again.

Yeah, any of us that need "readers" know how hard it is to find them when you need them!!!!! maybe 3D glasses could have a place on the tv they attach to for easy finding?????

That's exactly what Craig said. Still...I think it's the wave of the future...like it or not. Maybe its just the excuse we all need to spend more time in the garden and reading a good book.
Re: Avatar
I think the wave of the future is original content programming on the computer. If Roswell had started now...I bet with the fan fervor we had we could have gotten more episodes made...paid for on itunes.
