Re: Merlin
BBC had a very similar series that was a lot of fun, historically and legend-wise very loose but still very watchable Robin Hood Jonas Armstrong and Richard Armitage. I think there were 3 seasons.

Re: Merlin
I'm still watching and enjoying this. Silly stories, competent and personable actors, what's not to like?

Re: Merlin
I tried watching it awhile back but the fakeness/cheapness of the sets and costumes compared to The Tudors put me off, but then I'm a curmudgeon... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and of course their budget is probably about 1/20 of The Tudors.

Re: Merlin
They do get to film it at a nice castle in France...which Anthony Head has said he enjoys.

Re: Merlin
Arthur in love with a serving wench named Guinevere. It's different. But this was a good, fun episode. Anthony Head takes the role seriously (although I wish they'd make him grow his hair longer. And the boy Merlin turning himself old was a good make-up job on the crew's part.
I like that this is on the same night as Fringe because I couldn't take two "make 'em think" shows in a row. Merlin is fantsy escapism but I buy it.

Re: Merlin
Fantasy escapism...gotta love it.
BBC's Robin Hood was the same way and I miss it, even during it's most silly episodes it was still fun.
I barely ever watch Fringe anymore. Every time I do, I keep thinking it's like those last few seasons of X-files....can't put my finger on it really tho.

Merlin returns with a new season on Jan. 6th. The King (Anthony Head) is dead, long live King Arthur!

Re: Merlin
Though I adore Anthony Head, I am looking forward to the new realm under Arthur's leadership....with a little help from Merlin.

Re: Merlin
Seems weird without Anthony Head as King but I guess it was time to move on. Merlin is still hiding his magical side from Arthur...I think that's something that should end soon as well. But overall, this is a fun romp and tonight there was an alien in it that made us all keep saying "Wha???"
