True Grit
Saw this yesterday. Liked it a lot. Jeff Bridges gives a great performance. I thought, from the trailers, that the girl was going to disappoint me. But she didn't. It was what you would expect from the Coen brothers.

Re: True Grit
I haven't seen it yet but will eventually. I was wondering if Hailee Steinfeld may be related to to the Steinfeld family that started one of the first dept. stores in Tucson ~150 years ago, but I guess she isn't although there's no way to tell from this bio:
Steinfeld’s parents
and the movie’s producers decided as a group to submit Steinfeld in the
supporting category, in recognition of her age and lack of movie
experience. Time magazine movie critic Richard Corliss listed Hailee’s
performance as one of the top 10 of the year, as well as the movie True
Grit. He said newcomer Hailee “nearly steals the movie”

We wanted to find out more and give Hailee a Top Spot in our
Celebrity Teens category. As far as the Hailee Steinfeld biography goes,
we can tell you that the beautiful newcomer actress is age 14. She was
born on December 11th, 1996 in Thousand Oaks, California. Her parents
are Cheri Steinfeld who is an interior designer and Pete Steinfeld, a
fitness trainer.
Her height is 5’11″, Hair Color: Brown, Hair Length: Long, Eyes:
Brown. Hailee lived in Tarzana and Agoura Hills before she moved
Thousand Oaks eight years ago. Steinfeld has been home-schooled for the
past 2 1/2 years, she attended the Ascension Lutheran and Conejo
Elementary and Colina Middle school. Hailee has a 16 year old brother
named Griffin. She started acting at age 8 after seeing a close family friend in a school play.

Re: True Grit
Have you seen this yet, Banjo. I think you'd like it. The girl's performance was really good. I still like the idea of a slightly older girl being cast as in the original, but I am sure we are going to be seeing much more from Hailee Steinfeld. I bet she would make a great Anne Frank.

Re: True Grit
I wasn't going to see this, but on my brothers recommendation I did. We both tend to be skeptics about remakes.
I'm pretty sure I saw both this and Tron within a week or two of each other. I thought that much of Jeff Bridges that close together would be a mess..to compound that, there were two of them in Tron and I'd just re-watched Crazy Heart.
Talk about overload... but he was great!
Hailee Steinfeld was well, nominated for an Oscar sums that one up, if she'd won it wouldn't have been a surprise. I'm now a fan.
I didn't know what to think of Matt Damon for awhile...as soon as I got into my seat I realized that I didn't have the original burned in my brain like I'd thought. So I didn't know what his deal was, he was the comical part of the movie...a few decades ago I don't know if the funny would come across but I kept laughing....and wondering when he was going to turn creepy.

Re: True Grit
I haven't seen it yet......am not in movie going mode at the moment....have a tendency to be so more in the summer. True Grit probably won't pop up on HBO or Showtime any time soon....
