Academy of Country Music awards show...
I never watch this because their idea of 'country' music is quite different from mine, but I may have missed something last night...

LAS VEGAS — Taylor
Swift might not be able to count on the men in her life, but her fans
have yet to let her down. And on Sunday, they rewarded her with one of
the biggest prizes in country music — The Academy of Country Music's
entertainer of the year award. A record of nearly 600,000 voters
participated in selecting this year's winner of the academy's most
prestigious award, the only major award determined by fans. Swift's crew
came through for her on a night when the industry and her peers
rewarded firecracker Miranda Lambert with four trophies. "I feel
like of all that has happened to me in my life, that's the best thing
I've ever gotten to have," the 21-year-old Swift said after the show.
"My relationship with them is everything to me." Fans could vote
during the show and her spirited performance of "Mean," a rebuke to her
critics on which she played banjo, and nailed the vocal performance,
probably led to a spike in voting. Swift, known for detailing her broken
romances and the men who have wronged her, credited a quartet of men
who have done her right. She thanked Brad Paisley and Keith Urban — who
were among the five other nominees in the category — along with
four-time winner Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw for taking her on the road
before she became an international sensation and showed her how to do
it. "I see those people when I think of entertainers," Swift said.
Maybe it will show up on You Tube....
Yes ! It's on there...

If it's possible to have a genre such as 'contemporary country music', then she certainly embodies it and her talent as an 'entertainer', is without question. However we must note that she isn't actually playing a banjo in that video. It is a hybrid known as a banjo-guitar and is strung and tuned as a guitar to allow those who don't know how to play a banjo to sound "banjoistic" while retaining the guitar techniques and chords. I couldn't quite make out the logo on the peghead but she has a contract with Taylor guitars to play them onstage, and although Taylor doesn't make banjo-guitars for general sale it would have been no problem for them to whip up one model especially for her.
After looking at that logo more closely in full-screen, it's definitely not a Taylor logo, I've never seen anything like it, but it still could be a custom-made Taylor and they just wanted to avoid any requests for them to make more of them.
Also you will note that all her side-men and women are playing acoustic. This a big, and welcome, deal for some of us especially in that venue. Why she needed the drums and cymbals is a little mysterious since she had the bass player, but other than that jarring note, she is such a talent at 21 , you just have to marvel....

It suddenly dawned me. Of course I've seen that logo. It's a Deering. I apologize for my laxity and grovel for your forgiveness....

Re: Academy of Country Music awards show...
I watched most of this show and loved it. I am not a huge country singer fan, but there are some that I do love!!!! Love Brad Paisley and Reba is great.
I loved the duet between Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood. One of her songs and then Walk this Way. Good stuff!!!!!
