Fox cancellations

I never saw any of the 5 that were cancelled except Breaking In, and of course any rational person knew that wouldn't last. Of the new ones, I'll watch Zoey Deschanel's and at least check out The Finder. The rest don't grab me.

Fox Cancels Five Shows, Orders Four More

Just days before Fox’s upfronts presentation, the network dropped the hammer on a handful of its current shows! The move is intended to make way for Fox’s fall pilot pick-ups, with the network adding four new series — two comedies and two dramas — to its schedule for the upcoming TV season.

The surprising announcement came late Tuesday night and is sure to rile at least some of the viewers of the canceled shows, even though several of them were considered to be “on the bubble” for renewal.

HERE’S WHAT WAS AXED:

“The Chicago Code” – The freshmen cop drama from Shawn Ryan (”the Shield”) starring Jennifer Beals and Jason Clarke.

“Breaking In” – Christian Slater just can’t win. This marks his third TV series in a row to get canceled (following NBC’s “My Own Worst Enemy” and ABC’s “The Forgotten”). The freshmen comedy actually wasn’t doing poorly in the ratings, so the network might have some ’splaining to do.

“Traffic Light” — The freshmen comedy about relationships, which was based on an Israeli format.

“Human Target” — The sophomore drama based on the DC comics graphic novel starring Mark Valley and Chi McBride

“Lie to Me” – The Tim Roth drama, which has lasted three seasons

HERE’S WHAT WAS PICKED UP:

“Alcatraz” – A new series from J.J. Abrams (”Lost,” “Fringe”) starring everybody’s favorite “Lost” boy Jorge Garcia in another mysterious premise. The crime drama takes place in Alcatraz, as a team investigates the unexplained reappearance of the prison’s 1960’s inhabitants in present day.

“The Finder” — The “Bones” spinoff starring George Stults and Michael Clarke Duncan, which got a decent sampling a few weeks ago when the characters were introduced on a “Bones” episode. Stults is “The Finder,” a quirky sleuth with the ability to find whatever needs finding…people, treasure, bodies.

“The New Girl” — A comedy starring Zooey Deschanel (whose sister Emily Deschanel stars in “Bones”) as a quirky teacher with three trying male roommates: a man-child, a player and a cynic.

“I Hate My Teenage Daughter” — A comedy that pairs Jaime Pressly and Katie Finneran as two mothers who have daughters that act like the girls that picked on them when they were in high school.
