'Big Brother 13' Spoilers: An Epic House Meeting Fight
Wednesday, July 27, 2011

All week things on Big Brother 13 have been boiling and today, they exploded. After a week where a plan to backdoor Jeff backfired severely, the HGs got most of their issues out in the open as Kalia, Jeff, Jordan, Brendon, Rachel, Dominic, Daniele and Shelly all got into it. For the most part, Adam, Lawon and Porsche were wise enough to stay out of it.
It all began shortly before 1pm PT, when Kalia finally unloaded on Jeff and Brendon about how they're nothing more than bullies. She had enough of them using the newbies and tricking them all into going along with them, only to be picked off one by one. Brendon used his standard comebacks, calling Kalia a floater and saying that the game isn't "rocket science," which he's studied (the Big Brother 13 editors could easily cut together a five-minute video of Brendon saying that things aren't rocket science).
The drama is all about who's lying about the plan to backdoor Jeff that failed spectacularly. From what I can tell, Daniele hatched the plan after hearing Rachel whine about how Jordan didn't choose her for the luxury competition. She then brought it to Rachel and Brendon, and Daniele also told Kalia and Dominic about what she was doing, getting them on board her Hindenberg of a plan. Rachel and Brendon considered it for a second, but then decided to tell Jeff and Jordan about it to solidify their alliance. That's when Jeff started acting angry because he knew the plan was out there, but he acted like he didn't know where it was from.
Here's a rundown of the epic one hour and 10 minute fight that saw battles between Kalia and Jeff, Daniele and Rachel and even Dominic and Shelly.
1:15pm: Jordan calls the house meeting and it starts, nicely enough. Dominic gets Brendon and Jordan to acknowledge that he wasn't behind the plan to backdoor Jeff and that, if they were in his possession, they would've gone along with it and done exactly what Dominic did, which doesn't matter because they're still going to evict him.
1:25pm: Kalia and Brendon get into another fight as she accuses him of being arrogant, and he proves her point by being very snide and dismissive of her complaints, which only makes her even angrier.
1:30pm: Kalia and Jeff then get into a fight when Kalia accuses the veterans of making deals with all of the newbies (which they have, assuring almost every single person at one time or another that they were working together). Jeff gets angry and accuses Kalia of lying about her involvement in the plan to backdoor him.
1:35pm: The veterans once again accuse Kalia of being a floater for going to both sides. It seems like, in the veterans' opinion, everyone in the house is either on their side or a floater, ignoring the option that some people are against them. In fact, despite claiming to want to get floaters out, the veterans instead target the people who are coming after them and keep the floaters around as long as possible.
1:38pm: Jeff is angry at Kalia for not telling him about the plan to backdoor him, but she says it's because she didn't think it would really happen. Rachel and the other veterans also say that Kalia and Dominic are taking the fall for Daniele, who isn't loyal and will gladly throw them under the bus.
1:39pm: Daniele enters the fray by calling Rachel an idiot (good start). That leads to a fight between her and Brenchel where Daniele openly admits to being the one who started the plan to backdoor Jeff.
1:40pm: Daniele explains that her idea to backdoor Jeff came from Rachel's frustrations with Jordan after not being picked for the luxury competition. Rachel tries to claim that Daniele was planting seeds of doubt between the two couples in her head for two weeks.
1:43pm: Daniele says she targeted Jeff because she saw him as the biggest threat in the game. He tries to play dumb by saying that he hasn't won any competitions, which is the fundamental flaw of the veterans' logic: They think winning competitions is the ONLY part of the game which makes people a threat.
1:48pm: Rachel chimes in to complain about how Daniele is saying that she isn't here to pay for Rachel's dream wedding. This is another annoying part of Rachel's game, because she constantly talks about how winning would give her and Brendon enough money for a big wedding, and Daniele's only point is that this information is irrelevant in terms of the game. Rachel doesn't want to play emotionally, but the dream wedding is a perfect example of how she wants everyone else to play emotionally.
1:51pm: Jeff says his only goal is to make it to jury with Jordan, which is a lie because he wouldn't be here if he didn't want to win.
1:52pm: Jeff only wants the people who deserve to be there to stay, and Kalia correctly asks why he gets to decide who does and doesn't deserve to be there. Jeff continues to say that Daniele is untrustworthy and that no one should work with her because she doesn't care about anyone else's feelings or the fact that she ruined Dominic's game.
1:54pm: Daniele says she didn't come for summer camp and mockingly apologizes for not bowing down before Brendon, Rachel responds that Daniele is "ridiculous" and has "an evil heart."
1:56pm: The fight spreads to Dominic and Shelly when he calls her out for voting to evict Keith the first week. Shelly tries to defend herself by saying she never actually said she voted to evict Porsche. Shelly thinks she's playing a moral, honest game, but deep down she knows she was intentionally misleading the newbies. I guess the sin of omission doesn't count in her book.
2:05pm: Jordan tries to explain to Kalia that she never turned on her and is upset that Kalia didn't tell them about the plan to backdoor Jeff.
2:09pm: Kalia says "Is any of this making a difference?" No, it's not.
2:15pm: Dominic calls out the veterans by saying Rachel and Brendon would never go along with the backdoor plan because they are solid with Jeff and Jordan and are just going to pick off everyone else one-by-one. This may be the truest thing said during this entire fight.
2:18pm: Shelly says she's the only person who didn't come to win the money. If that's true, then she should get the hell out right now, because otherwise she's taking up the spot of someone who actually wants to win. Somehow she also adds that she's there to compete and to prove herself and that she'll fight to win, but that's not the main reason she's there.
2:25pm: Dominic gets everyone to hug to end the marathon house fight.
Wow, that was one epic hour of fighting and air-clearing, but as Kalia pointed out, it didn't really accomplish anything. Dominic is certainly still going home, Shelly is still going to work with the veterans and unless Adam, Daniele, Lawon or Kalia win HoH this week, one of them is definitely going home.
At the end of the day, Jeff and Brendon are still overly cocky and think they're right. They've had complete power for the entire game, yet they wonder why people might want them out, which means they're either playing stupid or they really are stupid. I mean, it's not rocket science.

'Big Brother 13' Recap: Understanding Why the Backdoor Plan Failed
Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Senior Writer, BuddyTV
Wednesday's episode of Big Brother 13 was a tad frustrating for anyone who's followed the live feeds, because we already know whether Rachel or Brendon will backdoor Jeff. What we get to see is how it all goes down, and that's the hard part. It's nearly impossible to understand Rachel and Brendon's trains of thoughts, because they make less sense than Jordan's mind. But here's my attempt to understand these two enigmas of Big Brother 13.
Understanding the Origins of the Backdoor Plan
Before Rachel nominated Adam and Dominic, she made separate deals with both of them, so it's obvious from the start that she's not the most loyal person in the world. Rachel also has issues with Jordan stemming from the fact that Jordan didn't pick Brenchel for the luxury competition, and Daniele fans that flame to encourage backdooring Jeff. This is where it gets frustrating for me, because while Rachel can (and will) lay all of the blame on the backdoor plan on Daniele, that's just a damn lie.
Understanding Daniele and Dominic
These two pretty people spend a lot of time flirting in the house, but as Daniele describes it, it's a love/hate relationship where he loves her and she hates him. Their budding friendship annoys Jeff because he wants Dominic out, ignoring the fact that he and Jordan are equally close to Shelly. I guess Jeff and Jordan are allowed to have a side alliance, but Daniele isn't. Worse yet, Jeff talks to Jordan about wanting Daniele out sooner rather than later, so even though
(Not) Understanding the Flip
While Rachel initially seems open to the option of backdooring Jeff, later she and Brendon completely change their minds with absolutely no rhyme or reason given. Brendon explains that he wants to win the Power of Veto so he has complete control over everything that happens, which is another reason why I absolutely hate that the veterans keep getting power, because it's gone to their heads. Brendon and Rachel meet up with Jeff and Jordan to bitch about how no one ever targets Daniele (um, maybe because she's not even playing yet and CAN'T be sent home at this time). All four are angry at Daniele for wanting a partner in Dominic, which is insane because they're essentially saying that it's OK for them to be playing with partners, but Daniele doesn't get to.
Understanding the Power of Veto Competition
Jeff and Jordan are chosen to play, making it the third straight week where the other veteran couple is selected. This selection process is SOOOOOO fixed by the producers. Speaking of fixed competitions, the Power of Veto involves the HGs grabbing letters from a giant bathtub to spell a word in 10 minutes. Basically, it's identical to the first Veto competition from last season, which Brendon won and Rachel played in, as well as one that Jeff played in on his season (though he famously spelled the non-word "Technotronics").
At some point in the future, when someone other than a veteran loses, I know for a fact Brendon will bitch and moan about how it was unfair and the producers designed a challenge for a newbie to win it, but I hope he remembers that they gave him this PoV on a silver platter.
Jordan spells "LITTLE."
Dominic spells "STANDINGS."
Rachel misspells "MOUISTURIZING." Just another reason for me to mock her.
Adam spells "FRACTIONS."
Jeff spells "EXPRESSES."
Brendon spells "UNDERSTANDING."
What do you know, Brendon wins by spelling the EXACT SAME WORD he spelled to win the first Power of Veto last season. Can you spell "PRODUCER MANIPULATION"?
Understanding America's Vote
Once again, we get to vote for what the Have-Nots will eat, and the options are:
Black Licorice and Blue Cheese
Parsnips and Prunes
Seaweed and Sardines
Well, that's easy, how do you not vote for the last one?
Understanding Shelly
It turns out the entire problem comes from Shelly, the sweet and seemingly nice older lady. Dominic, who still doesn't know she's 100 percent with Jeff and Jordan, tells her about trying to get rid of Jeff, and Shelly immediately runs to tell Jordan all about it. It's at this point that I decide I hate Shelly. She's playing the worst game ever, giving over total control to the veterans and floating to the final five or six, at which point she will be evicted. She's not playing to win, but she is playing to help the veterans win, and that saddens me.
When Jordan and Shelly confront Rachel and Brendon about Dominic's plans, they instantly decide that Dominic is now gone. Congratulations, Shelly, you claim to be the moral and noble player in this game, but you just totally screwed over someone who trusted you.
Then Brendon tells everything to Jeff, although he conveniently leaves out the part where he and Rachel actually considered backdooring Jeff and were the first ones to really bring it up. And because the obnoxious veterans have all the power, they get to continue their one-sided domination of Big Brother 13. The nominations remain the same, and now Dominic is going to be evicted, all because Shelly is a snitch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So if there is producer manipulation we must wonder why they want Brendon to win again, keeping the string of vet victories alive, which is beginning to rile the fans and even having some threaten to not watch this season any more....

Re: Massive confrontation rocks America's social stability !!!
Yesterday on the weekly "Getting Schooled With Ragan" after the big fight, Chelsia, Ragan, and Janelle ( all players on previous seasons) did an in depth analysis of the fight and their predictions for the upcoming week. Although they are too complex and sophisticated for non-fans to grasp and won't be repeated here... Ragan actually thinks that Shelly is playing a good game and the fact that "she is a wife and mother", (the only player in the house with such a status) gives her more credibility. Chelsia thinks this is hilarious and gets him to repeat it several times, causing her to crack up each time. Meanwhile, Janelle who is pregnant, and married, smiles too.... They took fan phone calls and much resentment is beginning to stir over the vets continuing control with many looking to Daniele to win a comp. ( the next is HOH tonight) and bust things open. This afternoon is "Happy Hour" with Missy and fan call-ins so I expect the grumbling to continue.
The Golden Key status will expire for Daniele, Shelly, and Porsche before tonight's HOH comp. allowing them to play. Before the comp. when Dominic is voted out (so the common wisdom goes, I am not 100% convinced) Adam his partner, left behind, will also get a Golden Key. However this is a technicality and is meaningless in the "real world" of comps. since the Golden Key concept goes away before the HOH comp. There is some confusion and speculation over this, what's the point of giving him a GK if he can't use it...? and some fans think that Julie's statement of "a new twist coming this week" will somehow be linked to the GK. There is no evidence one way or the other at this point but we only have 8 1/2 hours to wait , in my time zone, to see what happens. !....
Certainly a precarious time for America ....hold onto your hats !!!

Re: Massive confrontation rocks America's social stability !!!
Since tonight's HOH competition is generally agreed on to be an endurance comp. (last night Shelly said ", I saw workers pounding on steel pipes", (how she saw them through the blacked-out back door I'm not sure) and everyone agreed that it would be a "swinging" type of comp. where they have to hang onto a rope or swing the longest to win. This type of comp. can run for hours, long after the live show is over but with the live feed we will be able to gut it out to the end. I have to get up early tomorrow to go flying so it will be no picnic for me...oh the humanity ! . Fans are 'gearing' up for the duration, here's a typical reaction:
"ok so im gonna go slightly off topic for a second here and ask....
what are u guys gonna stock up on for the comp tonight? lol
im thinking we could be in for a good 4-6 hours, knowing dani's "i'll hold on til i die" approach to endurance and the fact that J/J/B know they are done if dani wins im pretty sure its gonna be a long night... we also have some newbies that are determined to prove themselves so who knows what could happen....
im gonna start with: Monster energy drinks (im on the east coast so comp doesnt start til 10pm here and im thinking will go on a good portion of my normal sleeping hours haha), chips, skittles and something to throw at the laptop if brendon wins Wink"
