Well? I'm pretty good with the movies...I know my favorites of the year. But for television..I don't have HBO or Showtime therefore, I can't judge them at all. Started to edit list, got tired....lol will be back.

Re: Golden Globes 2012
The only one I really care about is that Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones really deserves one in the supporting role category...and I would also think Clare Danes would be a shoo-in for Homeland.

Re: Golden Globes 2012
I haven't seen any of those movies so.......but in TV here's what I think should happen:
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX)
BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO)
BOSS (STARZ)
GAME OF THRONES (HBO)
HOMELAND (SHOWTIME)........this is a toss-up, but personally I'd vote for Homeland just because it's more relevant.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
CLAIRE DANES HOMELAND......no ambiguity here. She should win hands down.
MIREILLE ENOS THE KILLING
JULIANNA MARGULIES THE GOOD WIFE
MADELEINE STOWE REVENGE
CALLIE THORNE NECESSARY ROUGHNESS
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
STEVE BUSCEMI BOARDWALK EMPIRE
BRYAN CRANSTON BREAKING BAD
KELSEY GRAMMER BOSS
JEREMY IRONS THE BORGIAS
DAMIAN LEWIS HOMELAND......................this is a hard one. Bryan has already won three times so I wouldn't mind if Damian gets it
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
ENLIGHTENED (HBO)
GLEE (FOX
MODERN FAMILY (ABC)..........another hands down winner. The only competition it could have is How I Met Your Mother which inexplicably isn't nominated...
NEW GIRL FOX
Television
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES –COMEDY OR MUSICAL
LAURA DERN ENLIGHTENED
ZOOEY DESCHANEL NEW GIRL
TINA FEY 30 ROCK
LAURA LINNEY THE BIG C.....I wouldn't consider this a comedy in the same vein as the other nominees, nevertheless Laura Linney blows them away.
AMY POEHLER PARKS AND RECREATION
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
ALEC BALDWIN 30 ROCK
DAVID DUCHOVNY CALIFORNICATION
JOHNNY GALECKI THE BIG BANG THEORY..........Johnny deserves this, but again, two of the other nominees aren't really comedies.
THOMAS JANE HUNG
BEST MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
CINEMA VERITE (HBO)
DOWNTON ABBEY (MASTERPIECE) (PBS)
THE HOUR (BBC AMERICA)
MILDRED PIERCE (HBO).........have only seen this one...not fantastic but probably deserves the win.
TOO BIG TO FAIL (HBO)
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
ROMOLA GARAI THE HOUR
DIANE LANE CINEMA VERITE
ELIZABETH MCGOVERN DOWNTON ABBEY (MASTERPIECE)
EMILY WATSON APPROPRIATE ADULT
KATE WINSLET MILDRED PIERCE......ditto above, but Evan Rachel Wood should have been included.....she would win.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
HUGH BONNEVILLE DOWNTON ABBEY (MASTERPIECE)
IDRIS ELBA LUTHER
WILLIAM HURT TOO BIG TO FAIL
BILL NIGHY PAGE EIGHT (MASTERPIECE)
DOMINIC WEST THE HOUR..................all of them ......???
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
JESSICA LANGE AMERICAN HORROR STORY
KELLY MACDONALD BOARDWALK EMPIRE
MAGGIE SMITH DOWNTON ABBEY (MASTERPIECE)
SOFIA VERGARA MODERN FAMILY.....again, they've combined too many disparate types into one category to make this a rational decision, but comedy-wise Sophia has no competition in this group.
EVAN RACHEL WOOD MILDRED PIERCE
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
PETER DINKLAGE GAME OF THRONES...Eric has already won once so I'll go with Peter, but yet again, not comparable programs.
PAUL GIAMATTI TOO BIG TO FAIL
GUY PEARCE MILDRED PIERCE
TIM ROBBINS CINEMA VERITE
ERIC STONESTREET MODERN FAMILY
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX)

Re: Golden Globes 2012
Usually after these awards it's pretty obvious who's going to get the Oscars...not this time. It was nice to see them all spread out like that. I sure couldn't pick between Hugo, The Artist, Descendents or Midnight in Paris..they were all fantastic.
Didn't watch any of the red carpet, so I'm using your link to peek at dresses, I loved Evan Rachel Woods dress!

Re: Golden Globes 2012
I don't like this trend for "nude" beige colored dresses. The wearers usually look pretty washed out in them. Give me a nice bright color anyday.

Re: Golden Globes 2012
Me either, it usually looks like putty. Yellow is a bad color as well...I'm not anti yellow, but it usually goes so wrong. Loved Sarah Michelle Gellar in wearing tie dye..don't think I've ever seen that before and it looked great.
Must go to sleep....I totally forgot Sherlock was on tonight after D. A.. but suddenly there it was...absolutely loved it..and can Sherlock speak any faster? Thank God for being used to David Tennant otherwise I'd've been lost!

Re: Golden Globes 2012
I watched the last 20 min. of the red carpet and the whole show. I liked the look that Charlize Theron and Kate Beckensale had but also Sophia Vergara's dress, so I guess that runs the gamut of color extremes. Jessica Beil will no doubt be criticized for her transparent dress, there's always one, and it was rather "uncoordinated" looking but the main problem was her visible shorts underneath. They looked like jr. high gym shorts. If you're going to have visible shorts at least make them stylish. Aren't you glad I'm such a fashion expert ?
Zooey was cute in her relatively modest green dress. Emily was there too, sitting with her but she was on camera for just a few seconds.
Claire Danes needs to tone down the "redness" of her lipstick, but I noticed it on several others too. Okay on Sophia but rather garish on a pale skinned woman.
The funniest bit was when Seth Rogan and Kate Beckensale came out as presenters and his remark so flustered and embarrassed her that I wondered if she was going to get through the spot...but she did.
As far as the voting....it was pretty good. There was a slew of movies I never heard of that won....I wonder where they made that Iranian winner ?
Modern Family of course was a shoo-in for best comedy but I still think the categories are mixed up too much. I would have liked for Evan Rachel Wood to have won something. She is in such varied types of roles these days, moreso than almost any other actress.
The girl from "...Dragon Tattoo" is very striking and exotic looking without all the weird makeup and piercings.
That's about it for now.....might be back later with more fashion expertise ....
