Cobie Smulders was here last May filming her part as Maria Hill, which is why I'll be seeing it .....otherwise not being a big Super Hero fan.....

New trailer..
ttp://www.dailymotion.com/video/xp53r5_the-avengers-official-trailer-2_shortfilms
Somehow they have given Cobie a very short, rather odd looking hair-do. But I don't think she had to actually cut it for the role....

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
Cobie finally got some publicity for her role but she had to go to Canada to get it...

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
I thought you'd be more of a Scarlett Johansson fan...strange.
I'll go next week, right now I'm just trying to figure out if I want to see it with the Dbox seats or not... and to or not 3D...something tells me I'll just do 2D tho....

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
It's not that Scarlett won't be worth seeing, it's just that Cobie is on my "top 3" fan boy list and I can see her every week on CBS and twice a day on CW reruns of HIMYM so would naturally want to see her in this movie.
Speaking of Scarlett, she was on Leno last night plugging the movie and she even mentioned that Cobie was the other female in it.
And her appearance reminded me of something.....the night before Cameron Diaz was on Leno plugging her new movie. When her segment was over she left. But when Scarlett's segment was over she stayed and just moved over onto the other couch to make room for the next guest and even traded boob remarks/sexual innuendoes with him. This difference is noticed by fans. Scarlett seems like a more "normal" person to me...

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
Maybe after this blockbuster success Whedon will get a chance to do some other S-F, although I don't see a sequel to Firefly. But Fillion and Katic in space has some potential....

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
By the way I saw The Avengers a few weeks ago and thought it was great. Certainly worthy of all the hype and the big dollars it is bringing in.

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
I saw it the week it came out.
I really liked it.
but....way too much hype. Recently, I read that Jaws had three days of advertizing before it opened...that turned out great. I'm surprised now that with the internet/social media doing such a good job of promoting movies...aka word of many unpaid mouths aka fanatical fanboys and fangirls...why oh why do they run months long ad campaigns on the television?
I love Joss, I think he did a great job, I really do.
Sacrilege alert...There are a couple that I've liked better from the collection that led up to Avengers.
I think I'm tired of the genre...but I'll keep going to the ones that have good reviews.

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
" word of many unpaid mouths aka fanatical fanboys and fangirls...why oh why do they run months long ad campaigns on the television? ".....perhaps because the traditional publicity machines haven't caught up with the social media aspects ? Also, fanboy/girls may have somewhat different interests in the movie beyond what the mass audiences may have. I haven't seen it yet (gasp !) , certainly one of the few remaining humans on Earth in that category, but when I do I am going to time (with a stop watch) the number of seconds or minutes that Cobie Smulders is onscreen. You can see that this is a very specialized fanboy category that the traditional publicity machines wouldn't think of. 8)

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
First I was thinking, 'Cobie who?'
and then I looked at one of your links...oh yeah, her.
As far as her character, I just kept thinking, 'oh shut up already and get out of the way'.
Sorry...kinda.

Avengers isn't Blade Runner or LOTR's people.

But it's made more money than either of those and if anything gets Hollywood's attention it's money.

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
Money doesn't mean longevity or quality.
LOTR's made a pile of money...high quality and longevity.
We'll have to see about Avengers.

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
Ben and I finally saw it. Liked it a lot. Favorite scene: Loki sneering at the Hulk about his Superiority and Hulk just taking care of business in his own way. I actually think the Hulk was my favorite character which I was not expecting at all.
Felt that Scarlett was really good in her role too. Again, not thinking I would care much but I liked her character and thought she was very engaging....for a SuperHero.

Re: The Avengers...May 2012
I am the last person on earth to have not seen it.... Life keeps getting in the way. Now I hear that they are thinking of making a TV series. That doesn't sound all that great unless Cobie gets an ongoing , expanded role, which she could if HIMYM stops after another season...
