Ok Folks! This is a film that everyone and their brother needs to see. Last fall I was in my college's production of "hair" it was tastefully done, and had no nudity.
The "Hair" experience was one of such bonding, that I am seriously connected to those cast members of mine, more than some friends that I have had since childhood. Anyways.
This film is built around songs written by the Beatles. Before, during, and possibly aftyer the Vietnam war. Here is the offical website:
http://www.acrosstheuniverse.com/
It has several video clips, one per. cast member that they have listed, as well as rocking sound clips, pics, etc.
You can also see the trailer there, or here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ6d3m-GFyw
However, I would seriously recommend seeing it on the actual movie website. Way better quality. Just go to menu and click on trailer.
Evan Rachel Wood ... Lucy
Jim Sturgess ... Jude
Joe Anderson ... Max Carrigan
Dana Fuchs ... Sadie
Martin Luther ... JoJo (as Martin Luther McCoy)
T.V. Carpio ... Prudence

P.S. it is in theaters right now. And with the full support of all the living Beatles and their companions.

Re: Across the Universe!
At first glance I mistook this for a Roswell movie poster!... The strawbehry... The field of stars... And the guy (in the poster, not the other pics) looks a bit like Max... BUT the girl looks like Maria... So I was majorly ...
Looks like an interesting movie. :)

Re: Across the Universe!
This was supposed to play in movie theaters in my area and has been cancelled due to low sales at other places.
Seems like it would be just my kind of thing.

Re: Across the Universe!
I went to see the movie over last weekend, it's brilliant!
Berries, it's worth the drive if it's not in one of your nearby theatres...drive girl drive!
I was talking to my Mom about it, she said the movie gave her chills because it really showed what the sixties felt like...Vietnam, Civil Rights, passionate people rising up, beautiful music. :listen: Oh no, now I want to go see it again!
Beware of Let it be, I turned into a puddle.

Re: Across the Universe!
Let it Be has a lot of meaning to me. The best play I was ever in was called The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade. I played an inmate. It was a rip roaring good time and we ended the show with all us mad people reaching through the bars and singing "Let it Be".
Good times.

Me too! I can't believe she grew up and dated Marilyn Manson.

Re: Across the Universe!
Hey Mel ! That's exactly when she impressed me too ! Great minds think alike ! Since then she has sort of "gone around the bend" on several occasions, perhaps the most "famous" being that music video she did with that rocker....name escapes me....probably can find it on YouTube. And this past season she played Queen of the Vampires on True Blood, I didn't recognize her at all but she was...
Here's a 3 1/2 min clip of that scene.

I can't find a clip of Evan doing "I'll fly".....but here's Allison Krause with a really good mandolin accompaniment
