The Help
I finally watched this...DVR on Showtime, Emma Stone is one of my favorite actresses. Anyway, I noticed several True Blood alumni in it. Nelsen Ellis (Lafayette) and Anna Camp the blond who played Sarah Newlin the wife of Steve Newlin, the head of the Fellowship of the Sun, who is still in TB this season and now a vampire. Nelsen was unrecognizable as a lunch counter waiter. Anna was easily recognizable and even played a similar character to Sarah.

Re: The Help
I liked it though, honestly, there is one grossy gross scene I could have done without. Loved all the interaction between the sweet outsider wife who befriended her maid. And Emma Stone has so much screen presence...very watchable.

Re: The Help
I thought it was pretty good. Emma always does a great job in any of her widely varied roles. I don't remember any 'gross' scene but I was out of the room for a couple of minutes once....
Of course in those period pieces I always watch to see how 'correct' the cars are. They did okay but I'm wondering how many Cadillacs and Chrysler Imperials there were in Jackson, MS in the 60's even if we were only seeing the top of the income scale.....presumably. I can believe there could be one Studebaker Lark in town, but only one.... 8) And of course they were all shiny and in perfect condition, a 'problem' they always have, but then the owners wouldn't want them dirty and banged up just for the sake of 'realism'.
The critics say Emma is good in the new Spiderman.....haven't seen it. Leonard Malkin, CBS critic, says she's "luminous" and..."when she looks into any actors eyes with her blue eyes they become a star". Which I guess the British kid that plays Spiderman is already. He and Emma are an 'item' already...how long will that last ?
She was on Jimmy Fallon last week and in one of Jimmy's games that the guest stars always have to participate in she got "Game of Thrones" to act out in the charades. Her dork partner from the audience couldn't get it in the allotted time but Jimmy's dork partner couldn't get it either when Jimmy drew "50 Shades of Grey". He even told the camera to swing away as he acted out something not suitable for network TV and Emma had a laughing fit. Then in the last round Jimmy guessed "Hunger of the Wolf" in about 5 seconds and Emma's mouth dropped open as she couldn't believe it. But at the end she hugged both dork partners, so it ended well for them....

It's interesting to see how her stage presence on any talk show is so natural as compared to Kristen Stewart, as one example, who struggles to be coherent sometimes. Mila Kunis is another one who is very natural. Last week on Leno she told how she started on 'That 70's Show' when she was 14 and the producers would have thought she was too young for the role but she told them she was 'going to be 18', which was very true of course, just not right away. So she got hired...

Re: The Help
I liked "The Help". I saw it last year in Mississippi when I went to spend some time with Christy!
They still talk like that! Saying Miss Christy (Christy got called that at the school she worked at all the time!) And they call the little girls "Miss" still too! Also, big bows are still really in for the little girls hair and monograms on their clothes too!
I think I know what Berry is referring too! Yeah, kind of gross but kind of funny too!

Re: The Help
Oh, I remember now.....the "chocolate pie" scene......
Emma shows up in movies where she doesn't get much 'star' billing. Saw her in that Steve Carrell thing, "Stupid Crazy Love", on cable.
