The Following
The pilot is on now. Keven Bacon and you will recognize Maggie Grace from Lost...not sure about this one..but I'l watch for a few weeks. I like Kevin Bacon but his shows historically don't last.
Re: The Following
I taped and will watch tomorrow. I'm interested but am watching Ripper Street now too and I don't know how many murder crime shows I want to be viewing.

Re: The Following
I watched the first 10 minutes and decided it was much too gory a show to view before bedtime. I usually enjoy Kevin Bacon and Maggie Grace on screen. This won't be one of those moments.

Re: The Following
Certainly has a bit of gore. Not too bad so far. At least Natalie Zea didn't get killed off in the first episode.

Re: The Following
The gore got to me too. Watching the trailer for next week leads me to beleive that will be a big part of the show. Well, I can give it one more shot..
Re: The Following
I missed the first one but will catch the next one. If Maggie Grace is a permanent fixture I'll definitely watch.

Re: The Following
If you read Poe's work certainly there is the dark romantic imagery which includes things like death, beauty, fear, depression, incest, murder and so on. However, the characters in Poe's works are not reward for bad behavior. There is always guilt, insanity, arrest and death in store for them. So that kind of puts a damper on the Poe Cult if the Joe Carroll or any of his followers finish any of those short stories.
The players
Bacon = Ryan Hardy (former FBI working the Carroll serial killer case, and a bit of a drunk now consulting with the FBI)
Purefoy = Joe Carrol (Poe cultist leader & serial killer)
Zea = Claire Matthews (Joe Carrol's ex-wife & mother of Carroll's son, Hardy ex-affair)
Parisse = Debra Parker (FBI alternative religion task force lady)
Also, it is very hard to believe they would let so many people have access to this convicted serial killer by those not in law enforcement. Or that they would continue to cater to his requests and whims. Lock him up and don't allow him to have access to anyone outside. It seems unlike that serial killer could covertly lead all these mind-numbed followers to do his bidding while he is locked away. Also, why would the new FBI task force lady (Parker) hand deliver a Poe book to Carroll in prison? Is she part of the cult? That's like giving porn to a serial rapist. Last thing, the police do a poor job searching the house to make sure it is safe. Twice now her home has been invaded and her son has been kidnapped. Seems like it is time for her to stay elsewhere.
Otherwise it is a fun an interesting show so far. Bacon and Purefoy do a great job.

Re: The Following
I have to watch the repeat on Friday because of sched. conflicts on the first-run night. The pilot was okay but my capacity for cop shows is pretty limited and Castle and Blue Bloods nearly fill it, but I'll watch again.....it may qualify...

Re: The Following
After two eps under the belt I can't say I'm terribly impressed. Only the fact that the Friday repeats occurs in an 'slack' period keeps me watching....but it looks like the season premire of 'Touch' may be taking over that time slot so.......

Re: The Following
Every week a "bad" guy runs out a door and a law enforcement officer runs to the doorway 20 seconds later and then turns around and says, "They got away". This is driving me crazy. I do not know how much longer I can watch this show.

I've abandoned it partially for sched. conflicts, but it's not all that appealing either.

Re: The Following
Yeah, I let it go as well. Partially because I have 4 writing classes and they are killin' me.
It seemed the same thing happend with each episode...a reason why I just could not stick with House even though I'm a big Hugh Lauri fan. So...sorry Kevin...

Re: The Following
Well, somebody is still watching. (although I agree, I am annoyed at the vast conspiracy and coincidences that make this pretty unbelieveable to watch. Nonetheless....
FOX has announced its early pick-ups for the Fall 2013 season, and they're bringing good news for fans of "The Following" and three Tuesday comedies.
Kevin Williamson's controversial serial killer drama, "The Following," starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, has been renewed for Season 2 -- no surprise, seeing as it's the only bona fide midseason hit from any of the major networks.
