UWP production
There is a crew direction sign with those letters on a pole a block from my house, pointing up the street that runs to the NE gate of the balloon park and also passes the back gate of I-25 Studios. I don't know what production it is, and haven't seen any evidence of crew or equipment along the street or the back gate to I-25 Studios having been used. If I find out what it is I'll let you know.

Re: UWP production
found it!

To recreate an upscale California town in Albuquerque, New Mexico, EG Casting is looking for late model hybrid/smart cars of the Prius, Volkswagen and Volvo, variety.
Cars of these and more types are needed for use in the “Untitled Wally Project” , shooting on Tuesday June 4.
Email, “UWP Smart Car” to egabel@msn.com with the year, make and model of your car. Be sure to include your contact information (phone number).
This feature film is directed by famed cinematographer, Wally Pfister (Batman: The Dark Knight, Inception), it is a sci-fi drama about “two leading computer scientists work toward their goal of Technological Singularity, as a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.”

Re: UWP production
Hey ! Good catch ! I went to that site but didn't scroll down far enough. I had seen the description of the movie somewhere else, without a title, and it didn't mention that particular shoot. They wouldn't have had any trouble getting enough hybrids and Smart cars for that shoot I'm sure, if the "casting call" were publicized sufficiently which I didn't see in the paper, etc. I'm still wondering why they would use that particular street to shoot on, what "features" does it have that would fit the "theme" ? That would be the last place I'd think of to "create an upscale California town." And I saw no evidence of such a thing on the 4th or anytime else. I use it every time I fly at the balloon park or eat at the Subway, or get plans copied at the copy store.
Going in the back gate to I-25 Studios is possible but the gate is always locked and they would have to traverse some rough terrain to get up to the building. And why would they need to do that anyway ? It's not a regular driveway. But I-25 Studios has been really busy for weeks. Front lot full of cars and even the back lot has a bunch of identical trucks lined up, looks like freezer trucks and once there was a flatbed trailer with military vehicles on it, Hummers in camouflage, etc.

According to IMDB, the movie is titled "Transcendence" and stars Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. The current projected release date is April 2014.

Oh ! You're right CG ! I had read about Transcendence filming here but didn't remember that this description, "“two leading computer scientists work toward their goal of Technological Singularity, as a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.” was the same one at the Transcendence article.

Honestly, we should form a Detective Agency. As individuals, we are just "people" but together we have mad skillz.

Especially the "mad" part.
If I could figure out how to import pictures from Google Earth to here, I'd show you where I saw the UWP crew sign. I've done it before in the BB thread, pg 10, but don't remember how. Of course I could go over there and take a pic myself, but it's about 99 right now, they say..... Maybe the next time I go to the balloon park.....

Re: UWP production
Okay, I remembered how to do it......the light post is where I saw the crew direction sign...pointing up the street.
The white building at upper right, right near I-25 is the I-25 Studios. Balloon park at upper left. Street just to the left of I-25 Studios is San Mateo, where the sign was pointing. This pic was taken in the winter...you can tell because the balloon park grass is brown. They let it die off every winter.
You can see my house at bottom right if you know exactly where to look.... :P
Here's some guys flying at the balloon park, I don't see my car...

Re: UWP production
They finally put up a crew direction sign at the west entrance. They also put up a security guard post inside the gate. That's the first time they've done that. I guess with as big a production as Transcendence is they are taking extra precautions.
There's a lot more vehicles and equip. out back, they ran out of room on the front parking lot.
I wonder if this prop is/will be part of this production or is left over from an earlier prod. Looks like something from a Schwarzenegger movie.
The front lot
