Older Movies
I hardly ever go to the theater... Unless Jason is in a movie. ... So I've been watching 'older' movies thanks to NetFlix... I don't feel like starting a new thread for each one because yall have probably already seen them, but I want to comment on them anyway...
PAY IT FORWARD
WHY do movie makers feel the need to ruin a great movie with a terrible ending?!?!?!?
I watched Pay It Forward last night... Absolutely the movie EXCEPT for the last 5 minutes... That ending was great in Field of Dreams but just pissed me off in Pay It Forward ... What's a person supposed to get from an ending like that?... If you do something good, you lose in the end?... IMHO the movie should have ended when he rides his bike towards his friend... End

Re: Older Movies
I agree. Some producer/directors are just not happy unless they are tearing your heart out.

Re: Older Movies
It's a 'happy' tear-jerker anyway... They should have left it at that!

Re: Older Movies
Pay it forward was a great movie but I hated the ending too! Another tear jerker is "My Name is Sam", with Shawn Penn and Dakota Fanning! Loved that one!

Re: Older Movies
Here is another good love story and tear-jerker and one of my favorites! I just watched it today! Return to Me with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver.

Re: Older Movies
I agree Penny.
Return to Me happens to be one of our favorites as well. Great supporting cast!
The word play from all those widowers keeps Alice and I laughing throughout!
I don't know how many "stars" the critics gave the movie, but it has at least 3-1/2 from me.

Re: Older Movies
Thanks for the tips...
Add to list: Return to Me & My Name is Sam
Bridge to Terabithia I didn't like... The movie wasn't what I expected, but it was OK... I HATED the ending!...
If yall know of any other movies with rotten endings... Please let me know!

Re: Older Movies
Some of us, for various reasons, do a lot of our movie-watching at home. Doesn't mean movies that are not in the theater currently are not worthy of discussing. So come on, if you've watched something that you can recommend...or dis, lead us off.

Re: Older Movies
Probably be best to view that one at home. Would never be able to sit thru the curtain dress scene without seeing Carol Burnett in my mind.
I saw a wonderful "old" movie today. It was called Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) with Robert Downey Jr. He plays a thief who goes to Hollywood one step ahead of the law. Is being considered for a role as a detective when real life steps in and derails all his plans.
It is funny and well written. Has lots of action and fights. Good performances by all. Definitely worth a rent.

Re: Older Movies
It pops up around here every once in a while...and they always advertise that there WILL be and intermission.
I really want to go see it, but the timings never right. I've also seen it so many times, it's near memorized anyway...even after not seeing it for years. It made an impression.
