Helix
As a powerful and influential member of the viewer-class, I was able to watch the first 15 minutes of the pilot. The basic premise isn't original, a mysterious outbreak of a pathogen affecting three members of an underground Arctic research facility. 5 Dr's from the CDC are sent to investigate. Two of the Dr's are ex'es. The woman Dr. had an affair with one of the affected victims of the pathogen who is the brother of her ex, the lead Dr. on the CDC team.
The underground research station is in the far north Arctic, above Greenland or at the very northern most tip. It goes down at least 10 stories and employs "106 people from 35 countries" according to the lead Japanese Dr. who seems sinister and has some sort of secret project going on which may be responsible for the pathogen outbreak which causes the victims to become uncontrollably psychotic with their neck veins turning black, wide , staring eyes, the whole 9 yards. An expert S-F fan such as myself suspects parasitic infection if not out and out alien infection.
The casting follows standard procedure; the reluctant but no nonsense lead Dr. on the CDC team, his icy ex-wife, the wide-eyed innocent young female Dr. , the older, cynical, snarky, female Dr. , etc.

Re: Helix
I've seen worse but it isn't at the top of my 'must watch first' list each week.

Re: Helix
It was okay but seems similar to last season, just in a different locale. And the jumping back and forth from the present to 2045 is confusing , at the moment but may turn out to add a more interesting element.
