Gotham
Gotham next Monday September 22nd on Fox. Seems to be more about the origin stories of some of the villains and the young commissioner Gordon as a detective and less about the young Bruce Wayne. Seems to have a good cast and writers. They also seem to be doing it right with the location shoots and transforming NYC into Gotham.

Re: Gotham
This looks rather interesting. I'll check it out. I've heard that Bruce Wayne will not make an appearance at all or even be mentioned and if I remember the back story correctly there would be no reason for him to be featured.
But according to this, #8, he will be seen. I recognize some of those actors from other shows but not most of the women.

Re: Gotham
This is getting a lot of interest. Hopefully it will live up to the hype.

Re: Gotham
Got a good review. Was planning on DVR but may watch live and watch DWTS during commercials. And of course the premire of Big Bang will be DVR. The work of Powerful and Influential Members of the Viewer Class, such as myself, is never done.

Re: Gotham
It lived up to the hype. They captured the look and feel of Gotham City as we've come to expect it from recent movies. Notice that Gotham City is not a replica of NYC as some believe. The buildings are different and there are even catwalks between skyscrapers across the street in one scene.
By not showing street traffic, just background noise, they avoided the necessity to find a bunch of ~30 year old cars, which would have been scrutinized closely by viewers such as myself to see if they got the auto era wrong. By having Det. Gordon driving the early 80's Crown Vic in the last scene where he took the Penguin to the docks, they maintained accuracy while needing to have only one authentic era car.
The only 'problem' I saw was their cell phones. Yes, they were the simple flip phone type which were available by the late 90's but I don't think any small cell phones were in use ~30 years ago, which is about the time frame that this would have to be taking place in.
It was interesting to see the Cat Woman and of course the Penguin who is a casual killer even before adopting his "costume". Jada Pinkett Smith has a good role if they keep her, and of course there are all the "regulars" we have come to expect, low-life scum bags, shady cops, the gritty mean streets of Gotham City, etc. They got everything right.

Re: Gotham
And this first episode had the fun of quickly identifying the iconic characters...."Oh, that's Poison Ivy!" etc.

Re: Gotham
I didn't recognize Poison Ivy. Does Det. Gordon's wife play an important role in the future ? I got that impression....

Re: Gotham
Isn't it amazing how much the young Cat looks like Michelle Pieffer?

Re: Gotham
Ah, yes. I was trying to think who she looks like. I really like their sets. Very elaborate and realistic. Of course some of it is green screen, the interior of the police station for one, but the alley with graffiti all over every surface was good.

Re: Gotham
It was obvious from the first scene of the weather balloon lifting those guys that they jumped the shark really badly with one balloon being able to lift them. It looked to be about 4 ft. in diameter, but we can see from these numbers that it would take well over 100 balloons of that size to lift them.

That seems like going to a lot of trouble to "paint" the stunt woman, and causing trouble in the process.
But how many black, stunt women are there in the business ?

Re: Gotham
What's with the term "paint down"? Shouldn't it be paint up? I don't think women make down when they apply make up. Anyway, yes, I certain they can find a black female stunt lady. I wonder how often men and women are stunt actor for the opposite sex?

Re: Gotham
Got some pics. Most of the actors aren't as well known to the mass market TV audience but that will change somewhat, although a lot of the mass market will never understand this type of show and/or know nothing of the Batman canon. Too bad for them.....

Re: Gotham
I won't miss her. Nothing against the actress but I don't enjoy her storyline and that eye thing was just way too far for me!

Re: Gotham
Yeah, her plot line didn't fit into the overall mythology, she wasn't in any of the comics as far as I know, and I know she wasn't in any of the movies.
