With the Battle of the Block in full effect, the Power of Veto is always extremely important on Big Brother 17. So far, Steve, John and Vanessa are the only HGs to win it, but did someone else get a chance this time around?
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 17 spoilers.
Vanessa nominated Becky and Clay and Jackie nominated James and Liz. James and Liz won the Battle of the Block. Liz, Shelli and John were picked to play.
Clay won the Power of Veto!
He finally won something. And it makes sense since it was the competition where you had to roll a ball back and forth across an inclined plane 250 times. All of the players were dressed like squirrels. It seems Becky was doing well, but dropped her ball at 150 and John only got to 161 without ever dropping it.
Obviously Clay will save himself, so once again Vanessa needs to pick a replacement nominee against Becky. Will she stick with the Dark Moon plan and backdoor Austin? She's been very vocal about not trusting him, but perhaps the Sixth Sense could reconvene and stick together. It will be interesting to see what she chooses to do, especially since so many people (Jackie, Jason, James, Meg and Becky) know that the plan is to backdoor Austin, and Clay even told John (who told Steve).
The Have-Nots
Vanessa had to pick three Have-Nots. She chose Clay and Shelli (who haven't done it yet) and Steve volunteered as the third. In addition to Slop, they can all eat popcorn. For the season, Jace and Jeff were the only HGs who never had to be Have-Nots.
FUN FACTS
-Clay finally won his first competition, which means Julia is the only person who hasn't won anything.
-Meg and Julia are the only players who haven't won an HoH or PoV competition.
-While women dominate the HoHs (7 out of 10), men dominate the PoVs (4 out of 5).
-Johnny Mac has played in every single PoV competition so far. Of the 15 total comps, this week's BoB is the only one he hasn't played in. This is the fourth PoV in a row for Shelli.
-This is the first time Liz will play in the PoV. Now everyone has been picked and everyone has played (except Julia).
-Liz, Austin and Jackie are the only HGs who haven't played in multiple PoVs.
Austin appears to be "on the bubble" eviction-wise but a lot can happen between now and Thursday. It comes down to what Vanessa decides to do. She has a tendency to 'go in all directions'......we'll see. But all in all this season is shaping up to be one of the better ones and and over 60 days to go !

Plans change quickly on Big Brother 17. The Sixth Sense alliance of Vanessa, Austin, Clay, Shelli and Liz/Julia is in a precarious position this week. Both of the twins will come in this week if Liz survives, but can all of them stick together or will they fall apart before the Twin Twist even goes into effect.
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 17 spoilers.
Vanessa nominated Becky and Clay and Jackie nominated James and Liz. James and Liz won the Battle of the Block. Clay won the Power of Veto.
The plan for the house is to backdoor Austin. But after the Power of Veto competition, everything started to blow up and the Sixth Sense might be sticking together.
First, Vanessa and Shelli began getting paranoid that Jason, James, Meg, Jackie and Becky are working together as a five-some within the Dark Moon alliance against them and Clay. Then Austin came upstairs and Vanessa asked him point blank if he knew who voted to keep Audrey. He said he didn't know, which Vanessa knew was a lie because Julia told her about Judas and his voting to keep Audrey so he could blame it on Steve.
Austin went downstairs and talked to Liz, who confirmed to him that Julia told Vanessa about the Judas vote. Austin freaked out, realizing he just lied to Vanessa's face. He asked Liz to lie to Vanessa about it, saying he was talking about doing it, but he didn't.
Then Liz went upstairs with Vanessa and Shelli. Vanessa told her about everything she knows Austin has done (telling Jason to target Julia, etc). She told Liz about the plan to backdoor Austin that everyone is in on. Liz told her about how Austin wanted her to lie about the Judas vote and she added that she isn't attracted to Austin at all and that his physical advances creep her out, but she's going along with it anyway.
Next came the main event went Austin went upstairs to talk to Vanessa one-on-one. She told him that she knows he lied about all of this stuff and that the whole house wants him out and she's told them she's on board with it. Austin freaked out and started begging her not to do this, promising that everything he's done was for the Sixth Sense and that they still have the numbers.
Vanessa's turmoil is that she knows Austin is an idiot making emotional mistakes, but he's also lied to her several times. She wants the house (mainly James, Meg and Jason) to be OK with keeping Austin, although that's basically impossible at this point. Vanessa is scrambling to find a way out of backdooring Austin, but like with Jeff, she needs a reason.
Austin then went downstairs to come clean to Shelli and Clay, trying to build back the trust in the Sixth Sense. Shelli seems more OK with keeping Austin than anyone else. She's desperate to keep the Sixth Sense together and target Becky, but Shelli also wants to keep Jason safe and Meg on her side.
UPDATE: After a night of talking and Austin starting to campaign to people or trying to find a reason for Vanessa to put someone else up. However, Vanessa seemed to come around to being so afraid of going back on her promises to everyone else that she doesn't want to make enemies, so she might be leaning towards sticking with the plan to backdoor Austin. Even Austin seems to know that the wind isn't blowing in his direction.
UPDATE #2: Over the night, it seems Clay, Shelli, Liz and Vanessa are on board with keeping Austin after all, but Clay and Shelli want to try and work with Jason and Meg as well. Though it's unclear how they're going to convince them that keeping Austin is a good idea.
