BB Day 66 8-22-15
So now Johnny Mac is targeted for eviction rather than Vanessa. This seems dumb to me. She is one of the bigger threats left in the game and to let her hang around longer than necessary is dangerous. Austin may come to regret his decision. Of course the most entertaining result would be for Johnny to win the POV and take himself off the block. Austin still wouldn't put Vanessa up as Johnny's replacement but it would throw an immediate wrench in his plans.
Big Brother 17: Pre-Veto Comp Plans In Week 9

Zingbot and the Power of Veto competition arrive today in the Big Brother 17 house and while everyone expects those two things only one of the nominees knows to expect something more.

With a repeat of last week’s power there shouldn’t be much of a surprise on what’s going to end up happening this week if things stay on course, but today’s PoV comp is our last chance to see extra drama thanks to a shake-up if anything is going to happen.
Austin, the current HoH, talked a big game of how he’d go after Vanessa this week but that’s since fallen away as he’s openly admitted to taking the easier route and being too afraid of targeting Vanessa. She won’t be going home this week unless something major happens between now and Monday afternoon’s Veto Ceremony.
Steve and John are on the Block and both went there with the expectation that Vanessa would be the target. Not the case, explained Austin in a camtalk session last night. Flashback to 7:10PM BBT 8/21 as Austin and Liz let Feedsters know what’s going on.
Austin says that while Vanessa could be Backdoor’d this week, he doesn’t want to do that. This syncs with what he told Liz earlier in the day that it’d be dumb for them to send her home this week. Austin goes on to explain that he wants the noms to stay the same so they can evict Johnny Mac.
Should Steve win the Veto then Meg is a likely renom, according to Austin, but if John wins PoV then they’ve got major problems. A Meg vs John match-up would be dull for potential drama as there’s no chance Meg gets evicted. There’s just no reason for them to do that. But if John is down then Austin would have to decide if he wants to lose Steve, which he possibly would if Meg was renom’d.
Now as for the nominees themselves and what they think is going on, well Steve is much more aware than John. Remember that John admitted after the HoH comp that he didn’t try very hard because he thought everyone would throw it to him. That false hope may show up again in today’s comp.
Flashback to 11:19PM BBT 8/21 as John and Steve chat in the bathroom. John says he may pick Meg if he gets HG Choice since it doesn’t really matter. John doesn’t think it matters because he believes everyone is targeting Vanessa this week. Nope.
John McGuire isn't too worried about the Veto
James and Meg have discussed not using the Veto if they win it to protect the other. Say James won Veto and saved John then Meg could be the renom and vice versa. So the Goblins won’t be helping out John or Steve this week.
While John thinks all is well Steve actually knows better. Steve sat down with Austin last night (7:25 PM BBT) to discuss the week’s targets. Austin immediately defends Vanessa which makes Steve ask if James is now the target with John as a plan B. Austin says he’s still split on James or Vanessa. Neither of these claims are true as we just heard in Austin’s camtalk. Steve calls Austin on his born-again Vanessa trust and knows things aren’t as they seem.
Steve might now strongly believe Vanessa is not the target, but if he thinks the James plan is a reality then he’ll also be caught off guard. Notice though that when John and Steve spoke in the bathroom Steve didn’t mention any concerns to John. Instead he actually said they were on a good course. My theory is Steve might not want to tip John off and have more competition at the PoV with them both in possible danger.
Later today, possibly this morning as we’ve seen before, the Zingbot will arrive and host the Power of Veto competition. Considering the dangers of having someone in that suit in the heat I think we’ll more likely see either an early or a late comp, but not mid-day.
John will need to win that Veto if he wants to survive the week but he probably won’t know the threat level around him. But if he throws two comps this week and volunteered to be up on the Block in the process then there’s little excuse for the situation.

'Big Brother 17' Spoilers: Who Are the Week 9 Nominees?
John Kubicek John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV
This is the last week on Big Brother 17 where being nominated isn't the end of the world. Whoever gets evicted this week will join Shelli, Jackie and Becky in a competition on Thursday to come back into the game, so the stakes aren't quite so dire. But still, who's on the block?
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 17 spoilers. If you want to watch the live feeds and help support BuddyTV, sign up here.
Austin is the new HoH.
He nominated John and Steve.
This is a confusing week, mostly because Austin shouldn't have won HoH since he has deals and alliances with everyone. He has Brass Tacks with the twins, Meg and James (plus Vanessa, though she's not really a part of it). He also has Austin's Angels, the Scamper Squad and now a new permutation has formed, the Authority with Austin, Liz, Julia and Steve. The Authority also has an unnamed five-person group with Johnny Mac.
Austin refused to even consider nominating Meg or James, showing his true loyalties. Steve insisted that he didn't want to be on the block next to Johnny Mac. Even though Austin told Steve shortly before the nominations he wouldn't do that, he clearly changed his mind after talking to Vanessa.
The target seems to be Johnny Mac for various idiotic reasons, mostly that he's no fun and he screams in the diary room, which makes Austin and the twins nervous about what he's doing. However, like last week, the target can change depending on how people react. If Steve freaks out, he might be the target. And if one of the nominees wins the PoV, Vanessa could easily get backdoored by Judas.
There are also no Have-Nots this week and the HGs got a smaller dining room table.
Personality Quiz: Which Big Brother 17 Houseguest Are You?>>>
FUN FACTS
-This is the sixth time John has been nominated. Only 10 other HGs have ever been nominated that many times, including Victoria, Donny and Nicole from last season.
-This is Steve's fourth nomination. Meg and James have each been nominated three times while Austin's Angels (Austin, Liz, Julia and Vanessa) have a total of two nominations between all four of them combined.
-This is the first time all season that a male HoH has nominated two men against each other.
