I am so 'out of it' comic book-wise, having stopped reading them about...um....let me think....60 years ago....that these movies could "say or do" anything beyond the original issues and I'd never know the difference, which I guess is a good thing. But Momoa seems a good choice for the role.

So do he and Amber (also a good choice) have gills and live underwater, only to come up to battle injustice and criminals ?    scratch

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquaman

So he doesn't have gills.

Abilities Atlantean physiology grants superhuman strength, stamina, endurance, durability, reflexes, agility, senses, and healing. Aquaman also boasts telepathy and mind control extending to aquatic life.

Ah yes. The old 'Atlantean physiology trick. clap

Which reminds me...did I ever tell this story here...? :

In high school one of my best friend's dad was a little "off". I was rarely around him so didn't notice anything. But later, when I was living in Cal. after the AF, my friend came out to live nearby, also an AF vet. and he told me that his parents had divorced and his dad had moved to near Quartzite, AZ , a small town west of Phoenix near the CA border. He had been a plasterer/brick layer in a 'previous life', but over there he had become a "psychic surgeon". This could be considered a sub-set of the 'lunatic fringe' which exists in larger numbers than you might think. A psychic surgeon has the ability to heal by simply "laying on hands" but not in a "miracle" sense. He "actually" Rolling Eyes goes into the body of the patient "psychically" and cures them of whatever ailment. He made a living doing this ! His 'specialty' was curing the descendants of the 'original' Atlantis citizens. (Stick with me ! It gets 'better' !) Those citizens had been slaves of the Atlantean ruling class and were controlled by having 'cubes' inserted in their skulls.

Centuries later, their descendants suffered head aches and 'visons' that 'normal' Dr's couldn't treat but were a somehow inherited 'artifact' of those long-ago cubes.

I'm not making this up ! Suspect So....my friend's dad, knowing all this, was able to psychically "go into" the patients skull and remove the deleterious affects of the cubes. Remember....people paid him to do this ! ....in western AZ, in a lightly populated area ! Just think of his income if he had done it in CA, for example, although of course he would have had much more competition from psychic surgeons in CA, and don't think there weren't/aren't any ! But he probably got patients from CA, being close to the border, and in an area of CA where the "fringe" was more likely to hang out, and his rates were probably cheaper...a big + all around. You are killin me

So that's the story.....there are additions I could add, but too much at once...uh-uh....oh, did you know that after Atlantis sank some survivors were able to sail to the northern CA coast and stash a load of gold in caves under the continental shelf....if only we knew where to look !...... Cry

Plenty of X-files worthy stories out there but the producers won't touch them because it would stir the wrath of the crazies and 'true believers'.   NM has our share.... Rolling Eyes

What isn't mentioned in these articles but is part of the mythology, is that the aliens or the govt., depending on which version you "believe", is that they built a network of underground tunnels all over the U.S. allowing those "in power" to travel undetected between cities at 600 mph.

Take your pick !

Back when I was studying sociology at USC (Sociology is enough of a "blue sky science" in itself which is why I abandoned it, but that's another story. ) we had to 'research' this stuff and write papers, only students were burdened with this, the 'professional' sociologists, professors, etc. wouldn't touch it for fear of ridicule but the subject nevertheless fell within Sociology's purview and was a 'new' subject since it didn't exist much if at all until the "Flying Saucer" craze after '47. So.....I'm fairly familiar with most of its "branches" and now with the internet it's so simple to access all the stuff.  How about this to keep you busy ?  roflmao
