Guardians of the Galaxy
Saw it today. I don't know exactly what to tell you except that it probably has the greatest collection of visual effects techniques ever put in one movie, and that doesn't mean just CGI. Other than that it doesn't exercise your brain, or empathy, or sympathy, or anything else outside the functioning of your visual cortex. That is not necessarily a bad thing, just a fact.

I thought GotG 2 was funnier than the first one but I enjoyed both.

It is hard to beat a great first movie...this one was funny and enjoyed it but wasn't happy with how they played Ego...that said, I thought Drax was freaking hilarious, lol!

I'll have to admit that it didn't 'engage' me , whatever that may mean. I did 'get' the jokes, but surrounding them with massive visual/CGI effects on and on, seemed excessive. Age may be a factor.....

This "universe" is getting so complex that it may not be understandable for anyone over 14. That leaves me out by a couple of years.....darn !

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy
I never read any of the comics so I rely on the movies to explain the complexities of the back stories in a way that can be understood by a beginner like myself. I leave those over 40 comic book nerds to bicker online about what was incorrect in the movie and how it relates to the Marvel universe.

I never read any of the comics either. It's amazing how the various 'franchises' have suddenly erupted in recent years. Stan Lee and the other Marvel execs probably have never been 'starving', but now they are all multi-millionaires and Marvel has created a new studio and admin. structure.
