The first episode looks promising. They got right down to the 'meat' of the concept with the holographic demo and the threat of mysterious forces out to hide the truth. The 'backstories' and parent/child conflicts (often a 'feature' in this genre, for some reason) was kept to a minimum or at least to a fairly un-annoying level.

I liked it too. The actors seem well cast.

This is still good, one of the recent best 'techno thrillers' which I guess is the genre, unless there is an 'impending apocalypse' genre. scratch

There were a couple of bogus situations in last night's ep.  When Grace goes to the 'Wipp' site which was somewhere near D.C. that was bogus because there is only one Wipp site in the U.S.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waste_Isolation_Pilot_Plant

Even if there were a Wipp site there, that would not be the place to go to get 'enriched Uranium' ingots. The "W" means waste, which is clothing, tools, miscellaneous objects used in nuclear production which becomes radioactive during their use and has to be isolated. . All of that is buried in the salt deposits. There is no usable material in the burials.  Enriched Uranium would be found only at those production facilities presently in operation.

Even if there had been enriched Uranium at the 'wipp' site, it would not be stored in large metal cans that two guys could lift up and put in the back of a truck. It is stored in lead containers and then put in concrete "barrels" whenever it needs to be transported. The 'barrels' are specially constructed to not break open on impact even by a locomotive. Sandia Nat'l Labs is the facility that has designed and built them and there is video somewhere showing the impact tests. I'll look on YouTube.

Here's a couple:

Other than that there is plenty of under the table plotting, security breaches and general shenanigans. two thumbs up

A good place to learn about all things nuclear:

Still keeping the interest high. There was one bogus thing last night; Even if they could do good computer simulations of the Io prob hitting the asteroid, there would be no way to tell how many/what size the chunks of the asteroid would be after the prob hit it.  Therefore there would be no way to accurately predict the number of deaths that would occur as they showed on those charts.

Most of the chunks would burn up in the atmosphere. It takes a pretty big piece to reach the ground. Those that do would not necessarily land in highly populated areas, as those chart numbers assumed. For 1 billion, 100 million +  to be killed in China would require a lot of big pieces to land in the big cities along the east coast. That's where the great majority of the people live. Even though there is a large area inland for the pieces to hit not many people live there, in concentrated areas.

This is getting more complex and since the Russkies are the favorite whipping boys these days they may as well bring them into the mix.

There was the usual misunderstanding of what constitutes treason when they charged Darius Tanz with "high treason", which he did not commit since there was no designated "enemy" by Congress, and/or a declaration of war against any entity.

Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has committed treason within the meaning of the Constitution. The term aid and comfort refers to any act that manifests a betrayal of allegiance to the United States, such as furnishing enemies with arms, troops, transportation, shelter, or classified information. If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given.

The Treason Clause applies only to disloyal acts committed during times of war. Acts of dis-loyalty during peacetime are not considered treasonous under the Constitution. Nor do acts of Espionage committed on behalf of an ally constitute treason. For example, julius and ethel rosenberg were convicted of espionage, in 1951, for helping the Soviet Union steal atomic secrets from the United States during World War II. The Rosenbergs were not tried for treason because the United States and the Soviet Union were allies during World War II.

No blatant errors in last night's ep. Can't criticize the fictional mineral in the meteorite. The reg. number on the white jet is fake, N9A362. The FAA doesn't use letters in the reg. numbers. If we take out the 'A' though, it becomes a French helicopter.
