Dunkirk Empty Dunkirk

I suppose it's worth seeing but doesn't live up to its hype. The main problem is that it seems disjointed. There will be a scene from one vantage point, involving one group of characters then 20-30 minutes later there will be the same scene from another angle with different characters. It takes a minute to figure out that its the same scene. Also, the many short bursts of dialog from actors with 'untrained' British accents (as 'common' soldiers would speak) is largely unintelligible and has little or no bearing on the scene anyway.

You could nit pick the continuity problems but there's no reason to because they couldn't control the Channel. In one scene its calm, a minute later it has 8 ft. waves. The aerial scenes have some problems too but again it's nit picking given the difficulty in presenting such a complex subject in a coherent manner. They were moderately successful.

I'm sure I'll see it at some point. It does have some very positive reviews from many but also some less than enthusiastic reviews. I think I'll wait a little while to see it.

I saw a FB blurb about some 97 year old survivor of Dunkirk who went to the movie and walked out mid-movie but I didn't read it to see why...

I know the French are upset because it didn't show hardly any of their efforts to hold the Germans off while the British evacuated. Anyone who was there is going to find something to be outraged over. No way that such an event can be presented accurately enough to satisfy everyone.
