'Big Brother 19' Recap: Jessica Makes a Huge Mistake
John Kubicek
Senior Writer, BuddyTV
The Power of Veto ceremony has never gone well for Jessica and Cody on Big Brother 19. In week 1 Cody tried to backdoor Paul, but the Pendant of Protection ruined that plan. In week 2 Cody got backdoored and verbally attacked by Josh. In week 3, Jason didn't use the PoV on Jessica. And this week, even though Jessica wins the Power of Veto, she makes a massive mistake that will come back to bite her.
The problem is that, following the week 1 debacle, Jessica is trying to overcorrect and be nice to everyone, not making any waves. What she doesn't realize is that the sharks are already circling around her and Cody, so whether she makes waves or not, they're still in danger.
Paul Flips the House Against Jody (Again)
After the nominations, Jessica tries to confirm that her target will go home (which is something you should do BEFORE nominations). Paul tells her not to ask that question so early. That should be a major red flag, but Jessica and Cody dismiss it.
Is Josh a Mastermind or a Bully?>>>
They shouldn't because Paul immediately talks to Alex, Jason and Kevin about keeping Josh because he won't come after them and it will spite Jessica and Cody. Paul tells us that he has the numbers and he's going to use them to save Josh, but Josh just needs to lay low all week. Ramses' name isn't even mentioned because this has nothing to do with him.
Filler Segments
Christmas reveals that she was the first female member of a NASCAR pit crew and Cody is very impressed. He even smiles. However, in the diary room he tells us that he's playing it up as part of his new and now existent social game.
Jason talks about how much he loves his first-born son, calling him "the best thing I've ever done." It's very sweet and he gets teary because he misses spending time with him.
The Power of Veto Competition
Cody, Christmas and Jason are also playing, and it's a memory competition where they have to study a series of smoothie ingredients and then answer a question based on what they saw. If they're wrong, a smoothie bomb blows up in their faces. In a cute nod to the show's history, there's a wall with photos of all the HGs who have won this competition in the past: Christine, Vanessa and Bridgette.
Christmas is out in Round 1 while Ramses, Josh and Jason all go out in Round 2. Just like that, it's already down to Jessica and Cody and they're both ecstatic, with Jessica saying that this week couldn't get any better. Cody's only goal is to save Jessica's hair, so he throws it so she doesn't get a smoothie explosion. Jessica wins the Power of Veto.
Will the Veto Be Used?
Paul's goal is to make sure the Power of Veto isn't used so he can still flip the house against Ramses and save Josh. He tells Josh to act defeated so Jessica won't be motivated to use it. Paul also wants Josh to stay sad until Thursday and he just blindly obeys. It seems to work on her.
Paul talks to Matt and Raven about how Josh is an idiot who he can control. Matt and Raven agree that Ramses is a dangerous threat and Josh will be loyal to them. What we don't see is that it was actually Christmas who originally approached Matt and Raven about this flip before the PoV competition even happened.
Jessica Tells Someone Else About Her Temptation>>>
Ramses goes to Jessica and expresses some concerns about whether or not the house will flip against him. He doesn't trust the house and Jessica starts to get a little paranoid. Jessica talks to Raven about whether she's going to evict Josh, and Raven is super sketchy.
This makes Jessica even more paranoid and she talks to Cody. She lists off all of the reasons that the other side would flip and keep Josh. She tells him that she's considering using the Power of Veto and nominating Alex. Cody, once again, comes to Alex's defense and says that Jessica is just being paranoid. Cody says that he'd just leave Ramses on the block and let it ride out. She doesn't want to look back on her HoH and regret that she got used and blindsided again.
The Power of Veto Ceremony
In the end, Jessica listens to Cody and not her gut, deciding NOT to use the Power of Veto. Poor Jessica should've listened to Joseph Heller, the author who once wrote "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you."
In the final moments, Jessica hopes that this wasn't a huge mistake. Paul cackles about how stupid this move was and Josh gloats about how amazing this blindside will be.

Why Jessica Needs to Dump Cody If She Wants to Win 'Big Brother 19'
Derek Stauffer
Contributing Writer, BuddyTV
A power couple should be an incredibly dangerous thing on Big Brother. A showmance is an alliance, unless one half of it is Paulie Calafiore, that is incredibly hard to break up.
In Big Brother 19, a showmance is still dangerous but mainly for the people involved in it, not the rest of the house. Big Brother 19's most prominent showmance of Jessica and Cody certainly have a level of loyalty to one another but time and time again they have proved to be each other's worst enemies. Jessica's game has been brought down harshly by her "hunky" showmance. It's to the point that she would be much better off and maybe actually stand a chance of winning if Jessica completely separated herself from Cody.
Big Brother 19 Recap: Jessica Makes a Huge Mistake>>>
The Brains and the Beauty
Cody has proven to be good at one thing in Big Brother: Cody is an amazing competitor. Cody hasn't won every challenge, having thrown a couple and he did legitimately lose the latest HoH challenge. For the most part though if Cody has wanted to win a competition he has done it or he's gotten very close to doing it. In every other aspect of the game Cody is dreadful. Cody has no social game. He has no strategic mind, simply going for the biggest and most immediate threats with no finesse or logic. If there is something that Cody can't charge at physically or mentally, he is helplessly lost. Jessica, on the other hand, does seem to have some actual knowledge under her belt.
Jessica, unlike Cody, has a real understanding about how Big Brother is played and how she needs to navigate it. Jessica has also proven to have a pretty good track record with challenges. Jessica is not the physically strongest player in the game but she has shown a real knack for mental challenges. Though she was talked down as the pretty one in the early going, Jessica's greatest asset in Big Brother is her brain.
This isn't to say that Jessica is the smartest person in the house and she obviously isn't the most strategic. Paul really is running circles around everyone else making even other sensible players like Alex look like nothing but fools. Jessica does have her head on straight most of the time. It's just that Cody leads her down the wrong path every single time.
A Marine Without Marching Orders
Jessica knew that Cody had screwed up badly when he nominated Christmas in place of Paul. If Jessica had been made aware of what Cody was going to do before the nomination ceremony that blew up his entire game, Cody would have never made that mistake. It's not that Jessica would have so much loyalty to Christmas that she wouldn't have allowed Cody to betray her or Paul. It's that Jessica would have known it would turn everyone against them. Despite knowing that she was on a sinking ship, Jessica stuck by Cody out of affection.
[WATCH] Julie Chen Reveals Her Terrible Big Brother 19 Predictions on Late Late Show>>>
Now that Cody is back in the game he is being a little less aggressive and listening to Jessica more. Yet his influence is still corrupting her game. It is Cody who convinced Jessica to not make too many waves with her HoH reign nominating Josh and Ramses. It is Cody who believes that Ramses is the perfect pawn because he has nobody, not thinking that this is the exact reason that Ramses is a terrible pawn because no one hesitates to vote him out. Lastly it is Cody who talked Jessica out of securing that her target went home and nominating someone else in place of Ramses. Cody didn't force these scenarios but he definitely influenced them.
When Cody was out of the game, Jessica did a fair bit of effort to repair her game. Jessica had started to get Jason on her side and she was making sure bigger threats than herself were the real targets. Jessica was emerging from the ashes of her game that Cody had created but now she is right back at square one. The situation in Jessica's HoH is eerily like how things played how with Cody in the first week. Jessica believes her target is going home but the house is secretly working against her to prevent it.
Whether thing plays out exactly as before, there is still a curse to hit the house, remains to be seen. One thing is clear. Cody is bringing Jessica down. If Jessica wants to win she better hope that Cody goes before her again or she is needs to discount everything he says as strategy and just use him as solider to win competitions. Regardless of their life outside of the house and relationship, Cody is terrible for Jessica's game.
But what do you think? Is Cody the one bringing Jess down or are they equally terrible? Do you want Jessica to rebound or are happy she is crashing and burning again?

Re: BB day 37
Kevin is becoming somewhat of a loose cannon but this is what happens when they cast an HG who has no previous knowledge of BB. But they always have at least one HG like that for the unpredictability. In this case, Kevin's spilling the beans won't have much strategic affect, it will just take away Jessica and Cody's surprise at the vote outcome, an unfortunate result for some.
Big Brother 19 Eviction Prediction: Who Is Going Home Week 4?
July 27, 2017 Matthew Boyer Big Brother 19 6 Comments
Ten votes are up for grabs on Big Brother 19 for the third straight week and we know which way they’re going to fall tonight, along with most of the house now thanks to Kevin’s leak.
Ramses and Josh on the Block for BB19
After days of keeping it a secret we saw Kevin yesterday tell Jessica that she was about to be blindsided. Since then Jessica and Cody have been asking around the Big Brother house but getting lots of denials. They can expect what’s going to happen now so it won’t be a shock for them, but Ramses could still be in for a surprise.
The votes are lined up as 7-3 right now against Ramses. Nothing has changed over the past few days and I don’t think anything in these last few hours will shift the plans either. Ramses is about to be voted out and so far no one has formally warned him about the blindside.
Watching the conversations in the house this morning I waited to see if Paul would go ahead and confirm the real plan to Elena after keeping her in the dark all week, but that hasn’t happened so far. She may also end up surprised but not shocked after Jessica warned her about what Kevin said regarding the vote flipping. Should Paul decide to tell Elena then it’s possible she’ll flip her vote and make it 8-2. She seems pretty determined to follow Paul this season.
Josh knows to expect that he’ll be safe tonight but he’s also still a little nervous as he told Alex that he better have the votes tonight. This brief conversation happened as Josh took a break this morning from banging pans together and yelling at Mark that he wanted to bond before he left. Cody and Mark are not taking that behavior too well, but it’s entertaining Feeds none the less.
We’ve got the live vote coming up tonight on Big Brother with the eviction show at 9/8c. We’ll be back here at 9PM ET for our live recap so be sure to join us then for the fun as we say goodbye to Ramses, perhaps the last superfan Houseguest of the season.

‘Big Brother 19’ Live Feeds: Kevin Spoiled The Blindside
Posted: 27 Jul 2017 09:15 AM PDT
Everything was coming together for a Big Brother Blindside at Thursday’s eviction but yesterday afternoon Houseguest Kevin Schlehuber decide to burst that bubble and reveal to HoH Jessica Graf what the house was secretly planning to do with the vote.
Kevin reveals blindside to Jessica on BB19
We’ve known since nominations were revealed that the majority of the house was planning to evict Jessica’s pawn, Ramses Soto, over her target, Josh Martinez. Over the weekend Jessica started to get suspicious but Cody and Elena both naively talked her down from a possible renom that likely could have protected her goal of evicting Josh from Big Brother 19.
While Jessica and Cody were both nervous about the vote flipping against their target neither actually knew for sure. Enter Kevin. He pulled Jessica aside on Wednesday afternoon and quietly gave her the details that something was going down.
Flashback to 4:48 PM BBT 7/26 on Cams 3/4 (get your Free Trial now to watch).
Feeds flip from Jason counting nuts, no idea, to Jessica and Kevin in the bathroom. She goes to the WC and he follows her inside when the conversation begins.
Kevin: I think they’re going to try to flip on you.
Jessica: You think?
Kevin: Yes. I’m telling you, the little kid with the glasses is going home.
Jessica: You think Ramses is going to go home?
Kevin: *nods* Listen, the reason I’m telling you is because you’re from Boston and we’re pals. You hear me? Just be cool. Don’t freak out. You’ve gotta keep your composure.
Jessica: Okay.
Kevin: Don’t say I said nothing. You told me about the thing so you got everybody… Doesn’t matter, right?
Jessica: Right. Let me figure it out. I’ll figure it out. Thank you.
Kevin: You guys are good players. I’m going to need you too (two?) like you need me. Ain’t that what it’s all about. I’m not doing the wrong thing, right?
Jessica: No.
Kevin: That’s what it’s about.
Jessica: 100%.
Kevin: Okay, you gotta help me cause you’re way better at this. *winks*
Watching their entire conversation and reading over what Kevin was saying has me thinking Kevin was really stirred up by what Jessica told him the other day regarding her Halting Hex Temptation.
Jessica exaggerated the Temptation’s powers and suggested it would keep her and another player, that she could change at anytime, safe for four weeks and if anyone tried to put her up then she could punish that person. That’s quite a stretch of the truth and was so much so that the DR called her in and said she wasn’t allowed to lie about it like that anymore. Kinda late to close the barn doors now though, huh?
Kevin may be hedging his bets here by trying to play both sides of the Big Brother house, as he’s done successfully so far this season, but that doesn’t mean the move is going to win wide approval out here for fans. I was looking forward to some dropped jaws at the vote reveal, but that’s not going to happen.
Jessica ran this info back to Cody, Elena, and Christmas before taking it on around to others. Cody got in on the interrogating too while cornering Alex and Jason. Everyone was playing it down to them, but at this point they know. Only person who doesn’t seem to know is Ramses.
Ramses may end up surprised or Jessica could reveal the truth of her snafu before the show tonight. She definitely blew it here with her decision not to renom a better pawn against Josh, but Ramses will pay the price for her mistake.
What do you think of Kevin’s move to reveal the vote plans to Jessica? Well that prove to be a good move for his game or could Kevin get caught in the middle with neither side trusting him? Share your thoughts on his decision and what it could mean for Thursday night’s eviction.
