In L.A. it showed in a theater in Hollywood for a long time. I remember reports that hippies would get stoned and watch it many times because when the scenes where the flashing, streaming lights came on it would enhance their 'trips'.

Now days it still provides 'fodder' for the "moon landing was a hoax" crowd because they say that Nixon hired Kubrick to build the set where the 'fake' moon landings were filmed.

You can go on You Tube of course and see these nuts still expounding on it ad nauseum. If that's too tame there are plenty of Flat Earth sites too.

Yes, that's a classic and lost nothing even though it was changed a lot from the short story that it is based on "Farewell to the Master".
