I stumbled across a review  on YouTube, hadn't heard of it. I watched the review for a few minutes and the reviewer, who sounded German, said we should watch the series, then come back and watch his review. I wasn't sure where to find the show but the voice search on my Fire Stick popped it up on Amazon Prime, free. I started watching, the dialog was in German but the Prime mini-review said that there were English sub-titles.
I used the 'option' button and enabled the subtitles.

Anyone interested in military history, especially WWII history will find this interesting. It is very different from the usual stereotypes for ,this type of show. There are only 3eps, but each is over 1 1/2 hour long. I am only ~75 minutes into ep 1, but already it is very interesting. What it's like for German civilians on the 'home front' in the summer of '41, what it was like to be Jewish in the cities then.....they were still allowed to 'exist' but with a curfew, what it was like to be an ordinary German soldier on the Eastern front as they invaded Russia..the atrocities they witnessed, the moral ambiguities they had to deal with...what it was like to be a nurse in a field hospital, following the fighting.....how the army related to Russian civilians in the little villages (excellent sets) what it was like in combat rooting out 'partisans'...and that's only in the first hour !  They pull no punches and avoid the stereotypes but the reviewer has some valid critiques although they couldn't cover everything in less than 5 hours.

So....I'll have to watch all of it before starting on The Expanse.

Not exactly a 'feel good' show, but there were some survivors.
