'Big Brother 14' Spoilers: Is There a New Super Alliance in the House?
John Kubicek

Senior Writer, BuddyTV

Saturday nights are wild on Big Brother 14. One week ago was Wil's birthday bash, complete with multiple make-out sessions and nudity. And this week there was madness of a different type as a new plan was hatched and not one but TWO new super alliance may have been started.

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 14 spoilers.

Danielle is the HoH, she nominated Frank and Wil, and then she won the Power of Veto. But while everything seemed set for Frank to go home, now there's very serious talk of using the PoV on Frank (or Wil) and backdooring Janelle.

This germ of an idea started on Saturday when Boogie was talking to Britney. He was spitballing the idea of backdooring Joe, but then tentatively suggested a "curveball" by mentioning backdooring Janelle. At first he was worried Britney was working with Janelle and would tell her, but Britney seemed receptive and told Boogie to pursue it with Danielle.

The Avengers Alliance

Saturday night Boogie presented his big plan to Danielle, Dan, Shane and Britney, all separately. He wanted those four to team up with himself and Frank by saving Frank and nominating Janelle, evicting her this week. Boogie compared this new powerhouse alliance to The Avengers, a group of heroes all with special skills. The idea is that they would be able to dominate all the competitions, take out the weaklings and send home the most dangerous player in the house.

This alliance might last a week. Only until Boogie sees his way clear to start booting its members, increasing his chances of winning. When he won the All Stars season he won the $500 K, a new car a vacation to Aruba, a big screen plasma TV.....and he owns several restaurants in LA. Does he need to win again ? I say..... beatdown

After pitching this idea, Boogie and Frank left so Danielle, Shane, Britney and Dan could discuss it. And they certainly did.

Danielle and Shane seemed VERY into the idea, mostly because they do not trust Janelle at all and think she might even come after them if she wins the next HoH. They also seem to buy Boogie's talk about starting over, forgetting about the past (when Shane backdoored Frank and Danielle was ready to vote him out).

The truth is that Janelle is a dangerous player who has proven she can make it to the end (because everyone will assume the next HoH will deal with her) and that she can't be trusted. Heck, she's essentially playing Rachel Reilly's game from last season. As an added fear, Britney thinks the next HoH will be a quiz (maybe the infamous Knockout competition) and that is perfectly designed for Janelle to win.

So while Danielle and Shane were in love with this new Avengers alliance and Britney could go either way, Dan seemed very, very opposed to it. He's obviously worried about getting rid of a coach because he knows Janelle would always keep him safe, but he didn't want to push too hard because he can't really argue against the fact that Janelle might go after Shane next week.

It seemed like Danielle had finally grown a backbone, telling Shane that Dan would have to accept that the majority of the people in their alliance want to backdoor Janelle, but then she went back on it and said she would only do it if he agreed. And Dan made a hard, hard pitch to keep the nominations the same, claiming that Danielle is making this decision because of emotional, personal reasons and not strategic ones. That's not really the case, but Dan knows that this kind of manipulation works best on Danielle because, no matter how hard she protests, he keeps saying that it's personal.

Danielle is weak-willed and easily glamoured. Whatever she seems to have decided at any given moment will change as soon as anyone presents any alternative to her...and then change again.... Rolling Eyes

In the end of the night, it sounds like the revised plan is to use the PoV on Wil and backdoor Janelle. That way they could protect the cover about NOT working with Boogie and Frank but still secure the vote. Shane, Britney, Dan, Ian and Boogie would all vote to evict Janelle, and actually, because of the anti-coach sentiment, I'm guessing a few of the other newbies would do the same..

But if Boogie and Frank don't agree with the idea of not saving him, then the deal is off and they will keep the nominations the same. I really hope this happens, and not just because I hate Janelle this season. This is the best move for Danielle, and after nominating who Dan wanted, I hope she doesn't let him talk her out of doing something she obviously really wants to do for a second time this week.

The Puppy Alliance

As an added wrinkle, Saturday night saw the formation of a SECOND powerful alliance. Shane, Danielle, Dan and Britney decided to let Ian into their group, making him the fifth member of their alliance. At first it was just an idea, but all four grew to really trust Ian throughout Saturday as a loyal friend. They even brought him in on the plan to backdoor Janelle, and he was for it.

The hilarious irony is that, due to the Power of Veto competition, Ian is dressed like a dog and is being led around the house on a leash, so he literally looks like a pet the foursome picked up at the pound and accepted into their family. Who's a good boy? Ian is!

He only has to wear the dog costume for 24 hours. He had to sleep outside in a doghouse and when he has to go to the bathroom he has to bark and one of the house guests have to come and put him on a leash, lead him inside to the bathroom, wait outside with the leash still attached then lead him back to his doghouse.

This Saturday lacked the nudity and fun of last weeks Big Brother 14 antics, but game-wise, it was one of the most exciting nights of the season. After two days of moping around because he was forced into the game against his will, Boogie is back in fighting form, pitching a creative and brilliant new idea. Now we just need to hope the cold light of Sunday doesn't undo all of these exciting new alliances.

You will notice that there is some overlap in members of the two alliances. This is usually tried in most seasons. It never works, sometimes a smaller, single , 3-4 person alliance can work until near the end such as The Brigade in S 12, one of its members eventually winning.

'Big Brother 14' Recap: The Coaches Are Dead, Long Live the Coaches
John Kubicek

Senior Writer, BuddyTV

The Big Brother 14 game has been reset and the coaches have entered the game as players. At least that's the alleged twist. But in reality, several players have become so devoted to their coaches that those relationship dynamics still exist. Dan might just be another player, but he's still Danielle's coach and she still treats him that way. That's great for him, but terrible for her and the newbies.

The HoH Competition

I already live blogged this competition, so I won't bore you with the details. Dan continues to play the exact same game he played last time, throwing competitions to appear weak. At least Wil seems to be aware of what he's doing. Also, Danielle promises Wil safety before he jumps off.

At three hours it gets down to Ian, Danielle and Britney. And that's when Dan puts on his coach's hat and gives her a great big pep talk. He claims he's not her coach anymore, but it's so obvious that he still is and Danielle still treats him like her coach. This is the obvious problem with the "reset" button, because it isn't really a reset. Danielle and Shane are still 100 percent devoted to Dan and Britney, and they are both so simple that they will still defer to their coaches when it comes to decisions.

In the end Ian and Britney get Danielle to promise that they won't go up (not even as a backdoor replacement nominee). So they jump at 3 hours and 15 minutes, giving Danielle the win. Dan jumps in and picks her up like her coach (which he still is) and Shane makes good on a promise to kiss Danielle for the second time. It's their From Here to Eternity moment.

Reset Button Drama

Obviously a big question is "Who pushed the reset button?" Dan pretty much admits it, but Janelle and Britney deny it to everyone to cover up how badly they want to win. Boogie is miserably depressed that he's back in the game, and we know that's the truth because he didn't push it.

Backdoor Frank Drama

As soon as the twist is confirmed, Dan tells Boogie that Frank was going to get blindsided. Why would he do this? Because he knows the secret is gonna come out sooner or later and he wants to get ahead of the curve. Indeed Joe spills the beans later and Boogie and Frank are left scratching their heads over who to trust since EVERYONE was lying to them and they were both absolutely sure they were safe this past week.

That night Boogie confronts Dan and Britney about it and they both lie about knowing anything about the plan to evict Frank. Britney's strategy of "Deny, deny, deny" isn't really gonna work. Dan owns up to his alliance (Danielle, Britney and Shane) about his mistake in telling Boogie about Frank. Danielle doesn't really care because she's so high on his Kool-Aid that there's NOTHING he could do to upset her. Seriously, if he won HoH, she'd probably volunteer to go up as a pawn.

Brains vs. Brawn

In this week's filler segment, Ian tries to flirt with Ashley, but she's distracted by one of Shane's shirtless workouts. Poor Ian, welcome to the real world. Ian might be funnier and smarter than Shane (which he definitely is, because Shane is pretty damn stupid), but all Shane needs to do his take his shirt off and he wins.

Dan's Nominations

The primary targets for the week are Janelle, Boogie Frank and Wil. Danielle is very wary of Janelle and doesn't really trust her. But Dan knows that if one of the coaches gets evicted then the target on his back becomes exponentially bigger, so he works his hardest to make sure Danielle doesn't nominate any coaches.

Dan tells Danielle that she needs to stick to the plan to nominate Wil and Frank to ensure Frank goes home. Danielle is worried that if Boogie plays in PoV and saves Frank, then they're both in the house. Also, she promised Wil safety and doesn't want to break her word to him. Dan does his best tap dance to explain that this "doomsday scenario" with Boogie winning PoV won't happen. But he doesn't need to work too hard because Danielle willingly admits that they are working together and that she won't do anything unless Dan agrees with it.

This is where Danielle fails as a Big Brother player and an HoH. She is willing to let Dan tell her what to do and won't go against him. If he says they need to keep Janelle and Boogie safe, Danielle will listen to him, even if she knows those two are dangerous to HER game.

In the end, Danielle goes against her promise and her gut instinct by doing exactly what Dan told her to do by nominating Frank and Wil. Ugh. Danielle just set the tone for the new season, and it's letting the coaches completely dominate this game and tell the newbies exactly what to do. Just like last year. Congratulations coaches, you just earned a 1 in 4 chance of winning this game, because there's no way a newbie will.

The funniest part is that, after nominations are over, Boogie tells the diary room that he's insulted that he's not nominated. See, Boogie gets it. Boogie understands that letting coaches stay in this game is the dumbest move any newbie could possibly make.
