State of Play
State of Play
Synopsis
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe leads an all-star cast including Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams & Helen Mirren in the blistering thriller about deception, manipulation & corruption. When D.C. Reporter Cal McCaffrey (Crowe) is assigned to investigate the murder of an assistant to an up-and-coming politician (Affleck), he uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to bring down the nation's power structures. In a town of spin-doctors and wealthy power brokers, he will discover one truth: when fortunes are at stake, no one's integrity, love or life is safe. From director Kevin Macdonald of The Last King of Scotland, State of Play brings together gripping performances, riveting suspense and is "sophisticated, intelligent and powerful" (Shawn Adams, FOX-TV).
Craig ordered this from Netflix and we saw it today. It's not often I can say I enjoy a two hour movie...that's too long for me to sit still But I have to say the layers of this story peel back one at at a time right up to the end of the movie. So, if you haven't seen it, you should.

I have to say that I'm not crazy about him either. But didn't even think about why I don't like to watch him....he did a bang up job in this movie...and showed his talent...not his ego...so worth the ride.

Re: State of Play
It really is a good idea not to know too much about the actors as people if you want to be able to enjoy movies. My list of actors I just don't want to see in anything is ever growing....Mel Gibson tops my list.

And sad to say that Mr. Gibson will never come off that list....ever...no matter what he does now.
