Blue Bloods
As long as Bridget Moynahan remains in the cast, the rest of their troubles don't concern me....

“Creative differences” with ‘Blue Bloods‘ star Tom Selleck have prompted Ken Sanzel to vacate his role as the new CBS series’ showrunner, Deadline.com reports.
Series creators Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green – both of whom sat
with Selleck on the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association
press tour last week – remain as executive producers.
‘CSI: NY’ Makes Transition With Little Hoopla and A ‘Genius’ Twist
The “creative tension” between Sanzel and Selleck reportedly was born
of their conflicting visions for the show, which revolves around a
multigenerational family of cops. Sanzel, a longtime showrunner for
‘Numb3rs’ and former NYPD officer, saw ‘Blue Bloods’ as a procedural,
while Selleck wanted it to be more of a character study.
That Sanzel ever signed on for ‘Blue Bloods’ was a small miracle, but
CBS was resolved to have a veteran showrunner oversee a series created
by two relative newcomers.
“They begged him to take the show. He was reluctant to do it,” a
source tells Deadline. “And Selleck was not crazy to have Ken imposed on
him. But Ken was doing the network bidding thanklessly.”
‘West Wing’ Alum Joins ‘Criminal Minds’ Spin-Off
A CBS rep had no comment on Sanzel’s status with ‘Blue Bloods.’
‘Blue Bloods’ is set to premiere Friday, September 24, at 10/9c.

Re: Blue Bloods
Ken Sanzel was the man in charge the day I had on the set of Numb3rs. He was awesome. Let me sit in his chair (all day) and use his headset and tv screen to look at the shooting on. Told me I didn't have to leave when the other "extra's" did. That I could stay and see the individual actors scenes. He was so professional but still took the time to be nice to the "visitor" to the set. Sorry to hear Tom Sellack didn't appreciate the gem he had. Hope the next guy suits him...but he won't get anyone better.

Re: Blue Bloods
I like Blue Bloods. They are focusing on the family dynamics of the Reagans rather than the car chases, shootings, and CSI type of things in the more typical cop shows. And Bridget Moynahan plays an asst. DA ! Yes ! That means she'll get plenty of screen time. I was afraid that she would just be cast as eye candy playing a stay-at-home wife. But she has an adversarial relationship with her cop brother and has to balance her bleeding-heart tendencies with her responsibilities as a prosecuter. Also, her fan-boy minions will help the ratings I'm sure.

Late Friday night...death slot. I watched it but...it's more of those acceptable last resort shows.

Re: Blue Bloods
I hope that Erin doesn't take up with the DA. I agree with Commish Reagan, I don't like him, he's a shyster and a politician. At least she turned down his date and went with her family for Valentines Day. And I don't understand how they could not know about NYC HR policies. Surely that sort of relationship wouldn't be allowed...but then it is NYC...
Another "exciting" episode in my fun-filled life occurred last night just as Blue Bloods was ending. All three cats were hanging around me, big surprise, but suddenly they all looked toward the back door. If it had been only Rosina looking I wouldn't have thought anything about it because of her alarmist tendencies, but with all three looking I decided I'd better too. So I got up from the recliner and peered into the darkness of the hallway. I could see a "life form" there but wasn't sure what it was so grabbed the camera, handy, and took a flash......the neighbor cat two doors south. My cats seem to tolerate it outside and even inside apparently and it explains why I heard the crunching of dry cat food in the kitchen bowl earlier and I thought it was Rosina, but it wasn't...

Re: Blue Bloods
They only showed up in the pic due to the flash although when I was looking through the view finder and the camera was doing its "anti-red eye' thing before the flash went off, the eyes looked orange... . It came back again last night for another snack.

Re: Blue Bloods
To get back to the actual subject of this thread.... .....It's interesting to see how they have had to shoot outdoor scenes in the midst of the big snows in NYC this winter. In the last ep there were still big drifts along the streets and when Danny chased the perp down the snowy sidewalk and tackled him and threw him into the snow bank, I was wondering if they were going to slip and fall, or maybe they did and required some reshoots.... . It will be interesting to see how long the snow lasts vis-a-vis their shooting schedule.

Re: Blue Bloods
Well, after a few brief "Oh, the weather is turning spring-like! Hazzah! Huzzah !" from Bill
Sadler....he's back to "It's snowing in NY again....I need coffee. "
Darn balmy 70 degrees here today.

Re: Blue Bloods
In last night's ep we could see that the streets and sidewalks were cleared of the latest snow but it was still piled up pretty high along the curbs. I would expect that as the season progresses we will see less and less snow although their season may end before the winter does.
Also, what was Bridget eating in that breakfast scene at the end ? ( I thought it was lunch until the dialog proved otherwise) It was a pile of brown stuff and from certain angles it appeared to have whipped cream and/or olives or chocolate chips on top.... Tom's breakfast looked like a more conventional eggs and ham.

That's what I had at the Brunch Ben took me too last weekend....it was French toast with blueberries and whipped cream on top. Yum!

Re: Blue Bloods
That sounds good ! She must have chopped up the french toast, or something, to make it look like that. At least I was right about the whipped cream.

Re: Blue Bloods
In my area they are using thick slices of Challah bread for the "toast" part. It's thinker and sweeter than regular bread...and makes the dish seem more "piled high".

Re: Blue Bloods
Another good ep last night. There aren't many cop shows that can make you tear up. Yet another The Wire alumnus showed up. Jim True-Frost playing the drug agent that Erin busts at the end....and Abigail Hawk, Selleck's assistant, got some dialog.

Re: Blue Bloods
I liked last night eppie...really. But I could not believe that THAT cop family was so nonchalant
about having his wife picked up and put in protective custody. They KNEW what would happen with that crime lord and he did not IMMEDIATELY have her whisked away by trusted people??
That seemed weak to me.
Acting was great as always...and I KNEW you would be happy the assistant gets to break out of her routine a bit.

Re: Blue Bloods
Last night's ep was a repeat but I noticed something that I missed the first time. Det. Melissa Baker (Abigail Hawk) has rings on her ring finger. I couldn't tell for sure if they were both an engagement and wedding ring or just an engagement, I think it was both, but this brings up a whole new subject. Whether or not Abigail is married in real life (I couldn't find anything on the 'net, I'm guessing she isn't)) or whether Melissa is engaged or married only on the show, it is now the responsibility of the writers to provide a back story for her. Her character seems reserved, proper, and professional so we deserve to know something about her. What does she do when she goes "home" ? It wouldn't be a stretch to write an episode featuring her. It wouldn't have to be a stereotypical "damsel in peril" episode, they've already done that with Danny's wife and Bridget and the ex-con. So step up writers.....
Also, I notice that Jennifer Esposito's (Danny's partner) character's name is Curatola. One of the actors on The Sopranos was Vince Curatola playing Johnny "Sack" Sacramoni. I remember stuff like that...

Re: Blue Bloods
That was a good season finale but it didn't seem likely that the cop that committed suicide wouldn't have been instantly shot when he pulled his gun out. That's what they are trained to do when a deadly weapon is displayed in a potentially threatening manner. Last week a guy was shot and killed by the APD for showing a large, black plastic spoon.
And why wasn't he handcuffed like the others ? But all's well that ends well. He saved them a lot of court and administrative costs.
