Survivor China
I do plan to watch this one. It is the original reality show, and in my book, still the best "unscripted" show of it's kind. Stay tunned for updates and talk about the survivors.

Re: Survivor China
I'm looking forward to this season also and I'm interested in seeing
how some some things play out. (Like how is the inclusion of Sun Tzu's
"Art of War" is going to effect the game.) I think this is the second
best reality program on the air (the best being "The Amazing
Race" :D ) and I'm amazed at how well it has held up over
the years.

Re: Survivor China
I'm there too. Some seasons Survivor is better and some seasons AR (the show not the person... :P ) is better. It all depends on which one has the hottest women....

Re: Survivor China
Men.....you and your women......
I have seen Amazing Race and yes, it is good also. The one season I watched the most was the one where the geniuses won and the Airforce or CIA came in second I think???? I think there were Miss America's on it as well?

Re: Survivor China
That wouldn't have been Amazing Race Jojo...that was NBC's bad rip-off
of AR called Treasure Hunt (or something like that.) You should give AR
a look. There are interesting people, beautiful (and sometimes
heartbreaking) scenery from around the world and challenges to the
racers that are great fun to watch them complete.

Re: Survivor China
Wow, if Amazing Race is better than Treasure Hunt, then it must be good, cause I didn't think Treasure Hunt was too bad. You didn't like it I assume??? I think I have watched Amazing Race one time, but I didn't catch the whole show. I remember groups of three and you could row a boat to a location and either come back for the third or leave them behind. Was that Amazing Race??......I need to plan out my week of tv watching and see if it will fit in.....

Re: Survivor China
Amazing Race is better than Treasure Hunt. They have pretty good teams. Usually teams of two. There was a "beauty queen" team last season, I don't know if they were in Miss America or Miss USA, or....? I suppose I could look it up... :
Wow ! They have more going for them than I thought....

These former Beauty Queens are back for a second
chance and more determined than ever to prove to the world that they
aren't just pretty faces. Proven to be fierce competitors during this
current installment of Race, Dustin and Kandice are focused and have
their sights on the Million Dollar Prize.
These Best Friends met while rooming together at the Miss America
pageant in 2005 and quickly formed a bond that they knew would last a
long time. Dustin graduated Magna Cum Laude from California Baptist
University with a BA in Speech Communications. She recently married her
long-time sweetheart Luke. This Newlywed, who was crowned Miss
California 2005, currently resides in Seattle, Washington and describes
herself as thoughtful and spunky.
Kandice, former Miss New York 2005, is a Rockette at Radio City Music
Hall and in her senior year at New York University. She describes
herself as charismatic, determined and vivacious and is positive that
they can be the first all girl Team to win Amazing Race.
These two women share one common characteristic that could prove costly
for the other Teams on the Race: they are wildly competitive and more
determined than ever to win at any cost. Will these beauties be able to
prove to themselves and the world that they have what it takes to win
the Million Dollar Prize?
I'm a little suspicious of how Survivor China will be. Will they be out in the wilderness away from people? How easy is it to be away from a population of 1.3 billion ? How much govt. control and interference will there be ? If they are isolated what's the point of going to China? I prefer the tropical island venues.

Re: Survivor China
Well, they did find an isolated spot and a miserable place it is. Wet, muddy, sloppy, humid, moldy. Probably the worst environment of any Survivor venue. To make matters worse some of the contestants seem ill suited to the task ahead to a greater degree than is typical for Survivor casts. The waitress from NYC was not booted last night only because she remained low profile to the others but is contemptous of them and lacks any discernable skills and is the typical "delicate flower" type. If she lasts more than a few weeks I'll be surprised.
"Chicken's" boot on the first voting was a little surprising. That tribe seems oriented toward eliminating potential threats early on. This will be to their detriment in the contests because most of the members seem incompetent, causing them to lose often. He probably had survivor skills but became petulant early on when they didn't take his advice, causing him to become "high profile" plus tipping them off that he might be a threat.

Re: Survivor China
I'll do my best. So far, it is lending itself to a certain laughable cynicism. what ever that means.
I remembered that I posted this on Goof, where so far no one is taking the bait: :P
Two episodes in, what
conclusions can we make ? Not final conclusions of course but some
aspects are coming into sharper focus, one of the most obvious being
this, as noted on a blog:
The prominence of breasts
throughout the camp is downright distracting on this go-round of
“Survivor.” And when it comes to competitions, there are so many body
parts fuzzed out HD owners should complain. Yes , we are
complaining bitterly and can only wish that this season were showing in
Sweden, or France, or Germany where the viewers need not be
protected.......
It
is obvious that all challenges will take place in mud, water, and
general slop. The venue allows no other environment. This may become
tedious after awhile but last night's immunity challenge demonstrates
that mud wrestling/tearing off opponent's clothes, etc. on a regular
basis does contribute to ratings, we can assume.
Amanda
- hiking guide- on the victorious Fei Long tribe, pushed the big wooden
ball across the line completely topless, oblivious to the fact until
the end, whereupon she exclaims. "my mom is going to kill me !".
Probably not since she was "blurred out" from the waist up.
The
hapless Zhan Hu tribe further digs a hole for itself by losing the
immunity challenge for the second time and voting off another member
who had skills that would have helped them win future challenges.
This time being Ashley - WWE Diva - built with "'57 Chevy bumperettes"
being one description, although I think "57 Cadillac bumperettes would
be more accurate. In addition the tribe's leadership has been seized by Dave - former model/bartender - who in reality lacks any
leadership qualities. After their next immunity challenge loss it seems
inevitable that he will be voted off. This time his total lack of
physical skills will not prove to be a future handicap. His complete
collapse during the battering ram challenge was almost embarrassing to
watch.
One of the camps is located at the bottom of a shallow
gorge, the walls overgrown with jungle growth of course. I have this
suspicion that if you were to climb up to the top and peek over you
would see a bustling street market/thousands of people milling around/
etc.
All
in all, this season is shaping up to be more interesting with the
choice of characters, providing they can avoid voting off all the
interesting ones.

Re: Survivor China
Last night was rather mundane. The hopeless tribe finally won both of the challenges. The other tribe voted off the "Christian teacher" woman for obscure reasons, other than she was weak in the contests but no more weak than the NYC waitress who caused them to lose the rewards challenge.

Well, I did finally remember to watch Survivor this past Thursday, just in time to see the merge of the two tribes. Funny how easy it was to pick up on who liked who.....

Re: Survivor China
Well, Survivor was excellent tonight......they blindsided James and he didn't see it coming........great strategy by the others......
Very cool reward tonight for the reward challenge......that was carried over from last week's tribal council. The challenge was trivia questions about China, no wonder PG won....she's from China.....dah!!!!!!

It was baffling to me that James didn't take his immunity "cards" with him to the council .Common sense would dictate that he have them with him at this late stage...

He did have both of them with him...at the very end he admitted he had
a small vibe that he should use one, and almost did, but in the end he
figured he was safe and thus didn't use it.

Another guy hits the road.....and then there were five......I think the women definitely have the advantage, and could make this an all women finale. (but then again, Todd isn't really a guy....)

Re: Survivor China
Well I tuned in really late to the finale yesterday. I was a little disappointed at who won......but then again, I usually am. I like how they gave $100,000 to James for being the most popular, and they also gave Denise $50,000 to help with her financial woes.....
