Eureka
Is anyone watching this show? I find it hilarious and I like the characters. So I guess it's like a new "Northern Exposure" for me....I've waited a long time. So the last episode was about invisibility. Poor teenager goes off for her first solo drive and, just her luck, hits an invisible man! Her sheriff dad doesn't believe her....go figure. The special effects of seeing our beloved Sheriff get infected and start disappearing bit by bit was eerie.

Re: Eureka
Eureka is great! A fun quirky show. Now that you mention it, it does remind me a little of Northern Exposure.

Re: Eureka
I'd be just as happy if they spent time visiting with each character in their home environment (love the Sheriff's abode with his electronic voiced house), love the guy who runs the restaurant, not sure how I feel about the new dry-cleaning lady. there now seem to be 2 couples instead of a triangle...I guess that's good.
I find myself very interested in Jo, the young policewoman. I like it when it seemed she was becoming involved with the older eccentric guy....he doesn't seem to be on it anymore. Hope that'll be temporary. He was a big asset to the show.

Re: Eureka
I watch it. It's better than Flash Gordon, and at least on a par with Painkiller Jane, although Kristanna Loken is the only reason to watch it.
Of course on Eureka my attention is drawn to other things than some of you. For example when the Sheriff's daughter went for her solo drive it was in her new Smart car, which are sold in Canada (but not here until next year) and since they film in Canada they are readily available as futuristic automotive props. However they dub in a different sound for the car's engine, not the normal exhaust sound of its gasoline engine but something that sounds like an electric motor, which I guess they think is more in keeping with the futuristic theme...
Anyway, you'll be able to buy a Smart car in the U.S. at selected dealers next year. Penske is handling the distribution and sales for Daimler, and he hasn't announced where all the dealers will be. Along the coasts initially is the expectation. $12-17 k is the expected price range. Only one ~70 hp engine will be offered here although there are turbos and diesels versions sold in Europe.
.........I told ya I notice different things.....

Re: Eureka
Don't get your hopes up about Kristanna,Bman....I googled her name and this was the first thing that popped up.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Now,I'm looking at her photo but I don't recognize her from Eureka at all. Who does she play??
My favorite woman is the sheriff's deputy. I liked this week's episode because it showed a softer side of her...out on a date. Both people on the date wanted it to work but there's that fragile ego thing going on...and it ends badly.
Still, after all the science stuff...opening a rift in time to rejoin dead loved ones.
There was a bit of hope for the dating couple. (what I watch for, I guess) .

Re: Eureka
Kristanna is the star of Painkiller Jane, and one of the exec. producers so she's always protrayed as "hot" which is fine. If she swings both ways it isn't relevant to the show.
On the last Eureka one very brief, but funny scene that I can't quite explain is where the guy raises his arm as the Sheriff is walking out and says " Halleluia my brother". Why is that funny or inexplicable? Because he says it with exactly the same inflection, tone of voice, etc. , that John on "John From Cincinnatti" said it on the HBO series, canceled after the first season. The guy's voice on Eureka could have been put into John's lines and vice versa and you would never have noticed the slightest difference . But of course they are different actors.
Surely the Eureka writers/director didn't deliberately copy the voice and line.....what would be the point? Yet for anyone that saw JFC, it would leap right out and I laughed every time I saw the preview and on the show, which shed no light on the anomaly.....so anyway, it was weird....

Re: Eureka
Ah,Painkiller Jane...that one is not being renewed which they announced awhile ago...so I never got into watching. She is one long, tall drink of water as they say. Reminds me of that Elizabeth Rohm I met on the cruise. Gorgeous woman but at 6 feet tall...a bit intimidating to me.

Re: Eureka
Last episode of Eureka was so good. There was a biological contamination and the science facility was locked down. The little boy who has bonded with the alien force and his Mom were locked in with 2 people who wanted to take the boy "with" them. So that the bad guys CIA...FBI wouldn't find him and use him as a lab rat.
Meanwhile, people were coming to rescue them...but the computers were giving misinformation.
Meanwhile another group was trying to hack into the computer to help the rescuers and prevent the military from "Permanently cleansing" the whole place to contain the Biological threat (which was a ruse).
Okay, it was complicated. But all the characters are really so good and watchable. This is actually my favorite show at the moment.
And I LOVE the Sheriff's deputy. :flower:

Re: Eureka
First new episode was last week. It was great. Got a new character that's going to bring some intrigue and tension to the place. Tonight's another eppie and I'm actually excited about it.
Well, not as excited as I am about my bright shiny new STAR! But pretty excited anyway. Berry Flutterby...sounds like a "My Little Pony" :D

Re: Eureka
Definition of "transformation" :
2. A marked change, as in appearance or character, usually for the better.
Well, since your appearance has stayed the same, it must be your character that is better. :D
(finally gave up your outlaw ways,eh?? )
Tonight's Eureka was really interesting. Who could ever have seen that "special environment" coming. And the new character seems capable of learning something. Not too sure if I like the return of the old character or not. Sure, he was "helpful" but whatever happened to "paying for your crimes?"

Re: Eureka
I found my self having mixed feelings about Stark desolving himself with time.
But the new hatchet lady is a good second to stark's nasty attitude. but what is the hatchet lady up to? I think her front is a cover for some even bigger for Eureka.
Maybe Jack can get a little close to Allison now.

I'd trade whatserface for Stark any day of the week...I'm still happy he's gone tho. He was always far too smug.

Jack Fired!?
What is Jack to do? I think Alli has something in store for him. Until next week.
At 107, the Hatchet Lady looked very good.
Until next week...(there is always tivo)

Eureka is back with a new season. We are 2 episodes in and everything has changed. Those little trips to the past can really mess with a timeline. Very interesting start. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
