Common sense told us that it wouldn't be very "racy", if not that it would be boring, which it was, the few times I sampled it...
NBC Cancels ‘The Playboy Club’
by Tracy Phillips
Oct 4th, 2011 | 12:21 PM | Comments 0
And we have our first casualty of the season, folks! This year that unfortunate claim goes to… “The Playboy Club.”
NBC has pulled the struggling bunny drama from its schedule after three episodes. The new Brian Williams newsmagazine “Rock Center with Brian Williams” will air in its place on Mondays at 10/9c beginning October 31. Until then, the network will air repeats of the Maria Bello cop drama “Prime Suspect” in that time slot, according to Variety.
“The Playboy Club” was troubled from the start, courting controversy over its provocative premise (which ended up being not that racy after all), and debuting to unimpressive numbers (5 million viewers) and steadily declining in its three airings, with last night’s episode pulling just 3.4 million viewers and a 2.3/4 rating.
NBC is the first network to make adjustments to its fall schedule, but there is good news for two of their freshman shows: NBC announced today it is picking up the sitcoms “Up All Night” and “Whitney” for full season orders.

Didn't they cancel Charlies Angels too? I heard it was awful. They didn't even write any new scripts but were using the original scripts from the old show. Lazy will get you cancelled...
Re: List the cancellations here !!
I haven't heard that, but wouldn't be surprised.

Re: List the cancellations here !!
David Krumholz (the math genius young guy from Numb3rs) is getting a lesson in ShowBiz. He told me that he complained to his friends about feeling stale in the role on Numb3rs and would like to have some new challenges. They told him he was crazy and that he should realize that what he had was rare and what the rest of them were striving so hard to achieve.
Now Numb3rs has been off the air for a few years. All three of the lead family members have had new series. All series have crashed and burned. David ran the Playboy Club (in case you were wondering what this had to do with our topic. So there's another talented actor who will be hitting the audition circuit again.

That was quick! Didn't watch either one.
That's why Numb3rs went off of the air? Poor guy. Lesson learned I hope.

No, Numb3rs was on for about 2 years after he said that to me. I'm sure there were other factors that went into the decision.

NBC Cancels ‘Free Agents’
by Tracy Phillips
Oct 6th, 2011 | 1:10 PM | Comments 0
Just days after NBC dropped the axed on “The Playboy Club” – the first canceled show of the season, comes bad news for Hank Azaria’s sitcom “Free Agents.”
NBC has canceled the struggling comedy after four episodes, Deadline reports.
“Free Agents,” which stars Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn as coworkers diving into an ill-advised relationship, averaged a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and just 3.3 million viewers in its latest airing last night.
There’s no word on what will replace the show in its time slot Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET, but “Whitney” is reportedly a contender to move into that spot once “30 Rock” returns in early 2012.
Aware that his show was in jeopardy, Azaria attempted to mount a Twitter campaign to save the show, to no avail.
On Thursday, Azaria posted a message of thanks, despite the cancellation notice: “Thanks to NBC for giving us a shot, thanks to all who watched ‘Free Agents,’ and thanks to all who worked on the show- we had so much fun!!”
Maybe now that Azaria isn’t a “Free Agent” anymore, he can re-think his perspective on the whole salary hold-out situation that’s threatening his other show, “The Simpsons.”

The CW’s ‘H8R’ Is the Latest Show to Get Axed
by Tracy Phillips
Oct 6th, 2011 | 5:30 PM | Comments 0
Another one bites the dust, though this one is no surprise.
The CW has canceled “H8R,” the reality show hosted by Mario Lopez in which celebrities meet their haters. The show featured mostly reality stars, including Kim Kardashian, “DWTS” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, “Bachelor” Jake Pavelka and “Jersey Shore’s” Snooki.
The episodes have been pulled effective immediately.
The network will instead air repeats of the Sarah Michelle Gellar mystery “Ringer” in the Wednesdays at 8/7c time slot, according to Deadline.
Well, at least the haters should be pleased….

I'm pretty much a tv junkie and I'd still rather be tied naked to an anthill and covered in honey than have had to watch that.

Re: List the cancellations here !!
This isn't being canceled yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if a Saturday or two seals its fate. I never watched it but after seeing in the previews that Kevin Dillon seemed to be doing a reprise of his character 'Johnny Drama' on Entourage, I said no thanks. He was good in Entourage on HBO, no need to visit the past with a watered down mass-market version.

CBS ‘Gentleman’ Rudely Evicted from Thursday Lineup
by Adam Buckman
Oct 8th, 2011 | 9:37 AM | Comments 0
Is this any way to treat a gentleman? Apparently, it is — when the gentleman in question is creating a sinkhole in an otherwise stellar lineup of high-rated TV shows.
That was the situation with the new CBS sitcom “How to Be a Gentleman,” which scored ratings far lower than the network’s other Thursday night shows in its first two outings.
As a result, CBS is shunting “Gentleman” to Saturday nights and moving “Rules of Engagement” out of a planned Saturday slot to Thursday.
“Gentleman” got two chances to prove itself — in its premiere Sept. 29 and in Episode Two this past Thursday (Oct. 6). But the series, airing at 8:30/7:30c, drew 8.98 million for its premiere and the fell to 7.58 million in Week Two, according to Nielsen national ratings.
CBS Gets ‘Big Bang’ in the Ratings on Thursday
Those numbers might have been more than enough to sustain a Thursday-night sitcom on NBC, but this is CBS, and those 8:30 tallies represented steep drop-offs from the new sitcom’s lead-in, “The Big Bang Theory” (14.74 million and 13.92 million, respectively). CBS still won both Thursdays, despite the weakness at 8:30.
Still, networks hate losing that many viewers from show-to-show and the decision was made that “Gentleman” would have to go. However, the series isn’t being canceled outright. Instead, it’s being moved to 8:30/7:30c on Saturdays, starting Oct. 15, where it will become part of a lineup of repeats and “48 Hours Mystery.” CBS announced the switch late Friday.
The show will swap time slots with “Rules of Engagement,” which was due to start its sixth season in the Saturday slot but will now get an opportunity to try and prove itself in the much higher-profile Thursday slot. This should make series star Patrick Warburton happy — he complained late last summer about his sitcom being exiled to Saturday nights when network viewing levels are at their lowest. However, this new move is a double-edged sword — now “Rules” really has to demonstrate it can cut the mustard on Thursdays.
A repeat episode of “The Big Bang Theory” will air at 8:30/7:30c next Thursday. “Rules of Engagement” takes over the slot a week later, on Oct. 20.

CBS’ ‘Gentleman’ Canceled After Just Two Episodes
by Adam Buckman
Oct 9th, 2011 | 7:55 AM | Comments 0
UPDATED: “How to Be a Gentleman” has been canceled after only two episodes have aired, making the CBS sitcom the fourth new network series to be axed so far in the new season. The news that “Gentleman” has already ceased production was reported here following the news that CBS had pulled “Gentleman” from its Thursday lineup and would move it to Saturday nights (see story below). But it turns out the Saturday move is being made in order to simply burn off the episodes that have already been produced — a total of nine, according to TV Guide. The other canceled shows are “The Playboy Club” and “Free Agents” on NBC, and “H8R” on the CW.

ABC Cancels ‘Charlie’s Angels’
by Tracy Phillips

Sorry, Charlie… The only thing surprising about this news is that it didn’t happen sooner.
ABC has canceled its lackluster remake of “Charlie’s Angels,” the network confirmed Friday.
Debuting with dismal ratings, it lasted for four episodes, with last night’s outing rising ever so slightly (it averaged a 1.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demo), but it wasn’t enough to change the network’s mind about the fate of the series, which stars Minka Kelly, Rachel Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh as three sexy Miami detectives.
ABC plans to air the remaining four “Angels” episodes that have already been shot in its time slot on Thursdays at 8/7c.
Two of ABC’s other rookie shows got better news Thursday: The “Revenge“-filled drama starring Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe received a full-season pick-up, along with the sharply written Wednesday night comedy “Suburgatory,” which stars Jeremy Sisto, Cheryl Hines and Jane Levy.

Re: List the cancellations here !!
Yep, I heard about Charlie's Angels a few weeks back. I think it was from Mike Evans, Hollywood Insider. He does about a 2 minute blurb on the radio show I listen to.
Glad to hear about Revenge...I'm really liking the show and love that Nick has a big juicy part. I did see Suburgatory and I liked it but Craig didn't, so I'm outvoted.

Some will be pretty angry about this one....TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat.
I saw this a few times and thought it was pretty good but didn't stay with it....TNT seems to be cancelling a lot shows...hmmm.
