Spirit Award nominations announced
Best feature noms include 'Descendants,' 'Drive,' 'Take Shelter'

"50-50," "Beginners," "The Descendants," "Drive," "The Artist" and "Take Shelter" have scored best picture nominations for the Spirit Awards.

Noms were announced Tuesday at The London in West Hollywood by Anthony Mackie and Kate Beckinsale.

The 27th Spirit Awards will be presented Feb. 25 in a beachside tent at ceremonies in Santa Monica.

To be eligible, a film must be made by a U.S. producer for under $20 million. The noms were selected by 49 members of Film Independent.

The reviews for The Descendants are very good. They say that the girl that plays Clooney's daughter may be up for an Oscar nom. in her very first movie ! It was filmed in Hawaii, so keeping the budget that low must have been a good trick.
