The Hobbit
Review of the Hobbit movie out now

My own take...needs more "cute guys" . There is one, Kili...but I believe Mia called "dibs" on him. Which leaves the leader of the Dwarves...who isn't bad, but he's no Aragorn.

I am wondering why I'm not really excited about going to see this in the theatre. I loved LOtR trilogy and and we've seen it probably a dozen times on tv now. I just can't get enthusiastic.
Yes I saw the pic of Kili that Mia posted. Go back and look at that pic and tell me if you don't see a resemblance to someone we know.
Maybe after the first of the year...

I feel the same way. Some reviewers say it's padded too much, beyond what the original story warrants, which I guess wasn't that long......never read it.

Re: The Hobbit
It was a shorter, simpler story. Still makes a good tale and the stuff with the golem is really good. I think where they missed was padding in a bunch of gross stuff that young boys will probably like...snot in the soup etc. that was not in the book, was not necessary, and frankly was boring for me. Also added in some battles that were pretty generic. Still, overall, I'm glad I went. I did get to see the new Star Trek trailer and that was the longest trailer I've ever seen. Just hope they didn't put ALL the good stuff in there. :D

Re: The Hobbit
I heard that the battles were padding. I guess I'm a minority of one because I found the golem the most annoying thing about the other LOTR movies. Go figure....

Just got home from seeing this......I liked it. A lot of action and fight scenes......but it kept my attention and interest.
