Survivor season 30

"White collar, Blue collar, No collar" is the theme this season with teams divided into those three categories depending on their professions, or lack of them.

It will be followed immediately by the new season of The Amazing Race. First time they have done that. CBS will rule the ratings that night.

So what can we say about the new crop of Survivors ?  One thing that is immediately apparent is that the producers seem to have gone with more of a 'middle of the road' policy in casting this season. No beauty queens, no male models, no pro athletes. Yes, there is the one loud mouth bully, somewhat more mild than that 'category' in past seasons. But we can predict confidently that the first time his tribe loses an immunity challenge (they didn't lose last night) he will be the first to go.

Meanwhile there isn't any other 'personality standouts' so far, although this could change as the season develops.

Meanwhile this lady was the first to be booted from the  immunity challenge losing team because she was perceived as being dishonest in relating what she and one of the guys found at the "honest-deceitful" choice. They picked the "deceitful" choice but told their other tribal members that they had picked the "neutral" choice which didn't exist. Her male partner in the deceit didn't even get a single vote for eviction. Why did he skate ?  No one addressed the situation.

It's a good thing that his tribe-mates saw through his facade and voted him out last night. One of those people (almost always male) who they cast but then we see that they are skating on the thin edge of sanity while hiding it for various lengths of time but they are almost always found out eventually, although they are not always booted, but never win in the end.

What would he expect given that they don't vet the contestants down to every little detail. And there have been worse sexist guys in previous seasons.

Only the 2 hour season finale left to go next Wed.  With the surviving 4, it's hard to tell who will win. None of them are especially appealing unlike some seasons where a fan favorite is obvious.

"Tribal Council

Mike's glad he doesn't have to worry tonight and admits to enjoying seeing the close five scramble. He says it's easy to trust people when they have a common enemy, but the common enemy is safe tonight.

Rodney claims that his inability to form an articulate sentence is due to the fact that he's starving and fatigued. (I'm sure he's a regular Einstein in real life.)

Carolyn says she wants to trust her alliance, but she knows she could be going home. She knows that people have reason to write her name because of her good effort in immunity challenges. Dan doesn't feel safe either because people know he has an advantage.

After everyone votes, but before Jeff tallies the votes, Dan announces that he's going to play his advantage. The smug look on his face is short-lived though, because Carolyn decides to play her idol before Jeff reads the vote.

So every vote, except Carolyn's and Mike's, go to Carolyn and none of them count. But Carolyn and Mike's votes for Dan are enough to send him packing. Carolyn: 1, Dan: 0.

In his exit interview Dan says he played a "good" and "respectable" game. I'm not sure if that's more funny or sad. Either way, I'm just plain happy he's out of the running."

Tonight is the 2 hour finale with 3 tribal councils to narrow the field from 5 to 2, then the final live hour from CA where the jury votes are read and the winner is crowned. I agree that Mike is most deserving of the win, and has the best chance to be in the final two. Who the other one will be
I don't know but will guess Mama C. None of this seasons competitors were especially appealing except Haley, to me, and she was booted weeks ago but will be on the jury.

Mike won the million $ as expected but he had to win the last three immunity challenges to keep from being voted out.  The live reunion show was filled with analysis and "make up apologies" from those who had offended others during the season in Nicaragua, which was more than average.

Next season should be good. The producers contacted 32 people who had been on past seasons, going all the way back to S1, but who had never won. A couple had taken 2nd.  They asked them if they wanted a second chance. All 32 said yes.  Then they put the names online and the fans voted on which 20 would make the cut and be on season 31.  All 32 were in the audience last night at the live reunion show.  Jeff went through the audience and told each one whether or not they had made the cut. Then the selected 20 left enmass  and boarded the bus outside with "Second Chance" on the side.  S 31 will take place in Cambodia !  I guess it will be safe. Jeff said it will for sure be hot and rainy.
