With Lost Girl finishing its run and Bitten about ready to finish the season, it looks like the SyFy channel has a couple of interesting new shows for the summer. Hunters doesn't start until tonight but Wynona Earp is on ep 2 and is goofy and interesting. Using her great-great grandfather's Ned Buntline .45 cal. revolver, which is the only weapon that can kill the Demons is possibly historically accurate, not that Wyatt Earp ever had to battle Demons, but there was a curse placed upon him, supposedly, which has come down to his g-g- granddaughter so she has to carry on the fight. I suppose some parallels could be drawn with Lucifer but with less touchy-feely and more gun play. two thumbs up

Meanwhile The Magicians is the best show running on SyFy right now and 12 Monkeys is coming up shortly so it looks like summer will be good !  clap

It's still hard to believe that she is 30 years old !

The Magicians season finale was a 'typical' finale in that most of the main characters seem to die or are on the way. But with that show you never know. scratch

The "Hunters" premired last night and I think I have a basic grasp of the premise.  A group of aliens (they may not actually be extraterrestrials. One line hinted at this, but that leaves time travelers or alternate dimensions.)

But anyway they look human but are very different physiologically. They hold normal human jobs and have infiltrated sensitive job areas including the govt.  What exactly is their "mission" is not entirely clear but a decoded message indicates that a lot of killing is part of it. They speak normally but their alien 'language' seems to be clicks and buzzes. They can't fly, per se, but they can travel rapidly from limb to limb when moving through a forest, and seem to have super strength.

A secret unit the ATU, Alien Terrorist Unit, exists to combat them.  They have reversed engineered captured alien guns which operate by sending high power 'sonic beams', and the only way the aliens can 'normally' be  killed is to hit them in the head with a sonic beam, although multiple rounds from a sub-machine gun did a pretty good job on ones head and we get to see the detailed autopsy explaining their alien physiology.

An FBI agent's wife is abducted by one of the Hunters (played by Julian McMahon, the only recognizable, to me, cast member).  The FBI agent goes looking for her and becomes a detriment to the ATUs efforts so they recruit him as a member. One female ATU agent may actually be a Hunter but has turned against them and is aiding the humans. This is not totally clear, yet.

That's about it, so far. There are rabbits in cages  and a half naked woman in a cage too.....whatever all that means..... scratch
