Why does it take place during WWI ?.... And having done so why did they choose to show the German airfield as having Fokker EIIIs as the only aircraft ? That dates it to summer/fall of 1915 during which that brief period became known as "The Fokker Scourge" because the EIII was the first WWI aircraft to have synchronized machine guns enabling them to fire through the propeller arc, without hitting the blades. This increased the aiming accuracy greatly compared to the Allied aircraft which had no such system. The EIII shot down many Allied aircraft for a few months until a crashed one was recovered and the Allies discovered it's 'secret' and developed their own synchronized systems. The EIII as a combat suitable aircraft was obsolete even in 1915 and with the advent of more advanced Allied aircraft with their synchronized guns, it quickly faded from the aerial combat scene. Of course the Germans installed the system on their more advanced aircraft too.

The poor producers will probably never expect the questions and critiques they are going to get about those scenes, which look brief in the trailers. I'll give them one thing though, those EIII mock ups look detailed and realistic.
The original Wonder Woman was created to fight Nazis in WWII. At no time during her 'history" has she been in WWI.
I can only surmise that they moved the period to WWI for several reasons:
1. The majority of movie goers would have zero knowledge of WWI or that time period in general, so they could get away with portraying it any way they wanted.
2. If they had set it in WWII as the original 'history' had it, and even though the majority of the movie audience would be equally ignorant of that period, nevertheless introducing Nazis could be offensive to some and the vague memories of them on the part of the audience in other recent movies would require more careful attention to details that could be critiqued when compared to Indiana Jones, Inglorious Basterds, Fury, etc.
It will be interesting to hear how the producers explain it....

Re: Wonder Woman
Gail Gadot was a good casting choice. She has to be big enough to be imposing but still "hot". Remember, 12 year old boys have always been big Wonder Woman fans .......
Okay "Gal", but I've heard it pronounced 'Gail'. Not sure which is right...
