The Terror

A new 10 part series on AMC. It is said to send audiences running, gibbering in horror, as the "sailors commit unthinkable acts to survive"......sounds like my kind of show !  

After watching the first two hours we can say it has good sets, good recreation of two ships trapped in the Arctic ice and good scenes of what it would be like for 6-8 men to pull a lifeboat across the ice trying to find a thawed spot where they can put the boat in the water and row to a settlement.

Meanwhile there isn't much 'horror' just a representation of survival under those conditions. That will come later when some sort of supernatural creature or force threatens them.

So there have some beheadings by the monster, but mainly I feel cold watching it, and wonder why/ how the Eskimo woman is out there on the ice all alone. Where is her village? Did she build the big igloo all by herself? Is it a permanent fixture out there for living in while hunting? The monster does bring her a dead seal for food. Why ? They have 7 more eps to get things rolling......so we'll see....

Ep 5 is the best yet. Got to see the creature....did the firebomb and cannon do it in ? Probably not...
