No Barnabas! No Frakkin Barnabas? The most interesting character introduced and I have to sit through snooze-fest Amanda and Clarice to have no pay off at all.

I am not a happy camper. censored

The show tonight had some really intense scenes. In fact, I heard that Eric Stoltz, when he saw the script, called them up and asked them if his character had gone crazy....and he was assured the writers intended us to think his character has gone crazy. So then he was fine with it....but it's a darn good thing for him that
Spoiler:

By the way, there will be another Caprica marathon next Friday (all day so if you want to get caught up to the 8 episodes they have shown....and then the last one before the hiatus which will be James Marsters big scene (which will be shown at 9pm EST )

I don't blame Eric Stoltz for calling the writers up. I had much the same thought right after I saw that episode. I'm not so sure I want to watch something this dark. Of course a lot depends on where it goes. It just kinda put me off.

You have GOT to watch next week. Ron Moore and David Eick, the creators say that it is the best episode they have done. And , of course, it is James' chance to shine. That's the last episode before they go on hiatus to return in the fall.

Last night was one of the best. I didn't like the "shoot the dog" scene, but figured that they wouldn't have the dog be actually shot because that's a moral no-no on network TV. I wonder why Zoe is so adamant about not letting her father know she is "in there" ?

Her gun stripping scene was interesting. I couldn't identify the gun, I think it's a European make. Also the revolvers that Adama and the woman were carrying in New Cap City looked like S&Ws , maybe .44 Magnums, rather overkill , no pun intended, but maybe 'virtual' humans require larger calibers to "kill". [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I like the aircraft especially the big dirigible with all the protuberances and spikes. I think I spotted an autogyro taking off in one brief scene. If I knew what sort of scene was coming up and had my finger poised on the"still" button I could get a better look at some of those scenes and report back. I know you can't wait.... Cast Talk Season Finale

Access Hollywood - March 20, 2010 7:21 PM PDT

By Jim KiernanNEW YORK, N.Y.
-- The fun and very enthusiastic cast and creators of Syfy's "Caprica"
were in NYC this week and stopped by The Paley Center For Media for a
preview screening of two new episodes followed by a panel discussion
and Q&A for the eager fans in attendance. Alessandra Torresani, a recent AccessHollywood.com
Rising Star, has the task of playing not one, but sometimes three
different versions of her character Zoey Graystone on the show,
including one that inhabits a robotic Cylon prototype (and precursor to
the more advanced model later seen chronologically in "Battlestar
Galactica"). And Allesandra told me before the screening that she is
appreciative of the rave reviews she has received for her stand out
performance on the show, as well as "Caprica's" inclusion on
Entertainment Weekly's "10 Best TV Shows on Now" list. VIEW THE PHOTOS: The Ladies Of Primetime Television
"Any recognition from anyone I think is great... It's all wonderful," she said. And she made a point to make mention her recent Access Rising Star status. VIEW THE PHOTOS: Primetime Hunks
"I take that proudly. I think that's fun," she said with a big smile. Esai Morales,
who portrays Joseph Adama, revealed he has been somewhat of a jokester
on the set of the show, which has been described as a family saga with
a science fiction backdrop. "I am an irreverent person because I
don't think we can take ourselves too seriously. When you do, you lose
perspective," Esai explained. "So we goof [off] when we can. If the
scene is really deep and heavy, some actors don't like to be bothered.
On the other hand, other actors don't want to dwell on that moment
until the cameras roll. I can be a goofball and get serious,"[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Allesandra said she liked keeping it light in between takes too. "Between him and Sasha Roiz, they keep it funny. [I'm] usually running around, being obnoxious and they're making fun of me. It's great," she laughed.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Both
Esai and Sasha (who plays Sam Adama, brother to Esai's Joseph Adama on
the show), were taken aback after reading the script to the finale of
"Caprica's" first season. "Our finale is unbeliable," Sasha
revealed. "It's so powerful that I remember me and Esai calling each
other after reading the script. We were both absolutely floored by how
it ends." Esai said the season finale script made him emotional. "The
finale drove me to tears on various occasions," he said. "What happens
is so profound and out of the blue. [It was] so unexpected it took my
breath away." Allesandra revealed that secrets from the finale could get out if the wrong person finds her recently lost cell phone. "They
didn't tell me 'til the day before because they know I Twitter
everything. And they're like 'You're gonna say something.' And the real
problem is I took some pictures that would reveal a lot and I lost my
phone yesterday," she said. Thankfully, so far nothing has surfaced online from her phone pics collection. Mark Stern,
Executive Vice President of Development of Syfy, was expectedly a bit
tight-lipped when asked about any news regarding the recent rumors of
another show to be set in the dark world introduced to us in
"Battlestar Galactica," but he was not completely unforthcoming "There
ARE rumors... [rumors] that I started, I think," he laughed. "I really
can't talk about it yet as much as just to say that we are developing
other properties that come out of that world. "It's such a rich
world. I think if 'Caprica' is kind of the prequel to 'Battlestar,'
where it is how you led up to the Cylon War, and 'Battlestar' is the
post-Cylon War, there is a whole section in between the two," he said.
"There's about 50 years in between the two worlds to explore. That's as
far as I can go." Towards the end the panel Q&A later in the evening, Executive Producer Ronald Moore addressed the question of whether the conclusion of the show's storyline has been mapped out. "We
don't know right now exactly where the endpoint of "Caprica" is going
to be. You can pick out about a half dozen pretty significant landmarks
[between where we are now and the beginning of the 'Battlestar'
mini-series], that are potential ends to the show," he explained. "But
I think what we will probably decide somewhere along the line [is] what
is the organic place for this part of the story to end rather than
trying to get it to some historical marker up ahead." "Caprica" airs on Syfy at 9PM on Fridays. Related Content from AccessHollywood.com:

So we wind up with two cliff hangers; Does Amanda survive the jump from the bridge ? I predict she does...

Does U-87 survive the crash ?.....I predict "she" does....and does Zoe's 'program' get wiped ? Harder to tell about that but it seems dumb to write out the character with the biggest fan base.

I did have to watch it twice to figure out why Clarice wasn't in the car when it blew up, but it seems she had gotten out to watch Amanda on the bridge.

So what have "we" learned from the first season of Caprica. Speaking for myself I can say that it is more interesting than Battlestar Galactica overall. Why?....because it has more interesting characters that are more relatable to for various reasons. Also the S-F elements are more varied and interesting, once I got past the cultural icon hangup.....cars, clothes, etc.

Now I can enjoy it for itself and ignore that it is a "50 year prequel" to BG. I take it as just an S-F story about a civilization on a distant planet who play out the "Frankenstein" plot line. Think about it, that's all it is, with S-F embellishments.

I'm thinking that Amanda didn't survive the jump...but Clarice did steal the data/program from Daniel's computer...She has the means to possibly recreate avatars, as Zoe created hers and Daniel created Tamara's. If she wanted to use Amanda, Clarice might be motivated.
Do you think the phone call to Daniel at the end was about Amanda? I don't...he didn't seem crushed enough. think it might have been about the Zoe Crash...or the sale of his team. Man, that guy just can't catch a break.

Hard to say....the scene cut off before I could get a good idea of his reaction. So you're saying he could clone Amanda and put her in another robot ? Could be, maybe that would get a little "busy", having two "possessed" robots. Unless they get rid of Zoe which would be a big mistake imho. But I'm still thinking Amanda will survive. I thought I saw her in one of the 'scene flashes' from next season... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

James was at a Con recently. I've seen a tape of his Q&A. He says that on Caprica they plan to talk about his character a lot (it's cheaper than paying him) but the director told him he did a great job. Someone in the audience suggests it's such a great role that James should work for less money. James laughs and shakes his head yes, then gets a stunned look and firmly shakes his head no, and then screws up his face and goes "What???!!" :D

Rating's for Caprica's mid-season finale courtesy of tvbythenumbers.com:

Audience 1.105m (down 126,000 from last week)
18-49 demo 0.5 (up 0.1 from last week)

So the two JM episodes have the best demo ratings of the year along with the 2nd episode (where James fans thought he would be appearing)

It's the most intriguing show that no one is watching. No

Ronald D Moore interview

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

When you were picking actors for Caprica, what made you go with people like James Marsters? And will we be seeing his character a lot more in the future?

A lot of that came from within. Jane Espenson had worked on Buffy and was a huge fan of James Marsters and she suggested him for the role, and the network was very excited to have him. We definitely will [see him more]. His character has a multi-episode arc in the show.
